Loving You Made Life A Wish

I have suffered endlessly in life, my darling.

So death was never something I feared.

I used to wish for death to take me instead,

To put an end to my despair.

But then you arrived my darling,

Oxygen found its way back to my lungs.

I thought to myself,

“Maybe you were meant for me as a reward.”

“Maybe you were meant as a reward, my darling

for all the sufferings I had to bear.”

And for the first time I was proud of myself,

For not killing myself earlier.

My world grew quieter when you came.

The noise inside my head eased off.

You didn’t save me with grand gestures.

You just stayed, and that was enough.

Death never frightened me before,

It felt like rest, like something kind.

But loving you changed all that,

And fear crept quietly into my mind.

Not the fear of death, no!

Only the fear of too little time with you.

But then again, to tell you the actual truth,

no length of life could ever do.

Loving you made life a wish,

I am no longer ready to leave behind.

A lifetime is too short my darling.

I want an eternity by your side.
