After The Selection

All Rights Reserved ©

Summary

The Selection Ceremony decides everything. Some are chosen. Some are celebrated. And some are simply… left behind. Shrey was ready for his future. What he wasn’t ready for was the silence that followed. As the world moves forward without pause, he must learn how to live in the aftermath of a moment that defined everyone else. Between fading expectations, shifting bonds, and unanswered questions, a new path begins—one not written by fate. This is not a story about being chosen. It is a story about what comes after.

Chapter 0 - Prologue

Before time learned how to flow,

before stars learned how to shine,

there existed only two absolute beings.

They were known as Aethros and Noxaryn.

They did not speak.

They did not dream.

They simply were.

From their will, the world was born.

The Children of Aethros:

Aethros shaped humanity first.

Humans were fragile creatures—

their bodies weak, their lives short.

They aged.

They forgot.

They feared.

Yet within that weakness lay something dangerous.

Choice.

Humans could change.

They could adapt.

They could defy fate itself.

Given enough time, they could even surpass their creator.

Aethros knew this—

and remained silent.

The Children of Noxaryn:

Noxaryn shaped demons.

Demons were born strong.

Their bodies were perfect vessels of power. They did not age quickly.

They did not forget.

They did not fear death.

But they were cursed.

A hunger burned endlessly within them—

a craving that could never be fully satisfied.

When Worlds Touched:

In the beginning, mortals and demons coexisted.

They lived side by side.

They learned from one another.

From this union, demi-humans were born.

Mortals taught demons things they had never known—

hope, regret, and the meaning of life.

Demons taught mortals what fearlessness truly meant,

and how to raise their fists against the world.

For a brief moment,

peace existed.

The Taste of Betrayal:

That peace did not last.

The demons discovered a terrible truth.

By feeding on mortal souls,

their strength grew without limit.

Stronger.

Higher.

Closer to the level of their creator.

Desire turned into obsession. Hatred poisoned their hearts—

and that poison reached Noxaryn.

Slowly, subtly,

Noxaryn was twisted by the darkness it had created.

The first betrayal was inevitable.

Evolution Through Blood:

War followed.

And in war, mortals changed.

Some adapted to divine remnants and became elves,

beings closest to Aethros itself.

Others, repeatedly attacked and torn apart by demons,

were forced to evolve into beastmen,

their bodies hardened by endless suffering.

And then there were the dwarves.

They were not altered mortals.

They simply appeared.

They believed in no gods.

Only in strength earned by one's own hands.

The First Great Clash:

Coexistence shattered.

Mortals and demons clashed across the world.

Mortals were weak.

They fell behind.

And as they fell,

so did Aethros.

Even with elves, beastmen, dwarves, and demi-humans fighting beside them,

defeat crept closer with every passing day.

The Light Beyond Gods:

Yet hope did not die.

Humans prayed.

Elves believed.

Beastmen endured.

Dwarves stood firm.

Demi-humans hoped.

They believed there was something greater—

someone above gods themselves.

And that belief was answered.

A light descended from beyond existence.

The Supreme Creator of All revealed itself.

Its presence shattered Noxaryn among the demons

and bestowed Edicts—divine remnants shaped as weapons—

upon the mortal races.

For the first time,

the demons were overwhelmed.

The Abyss:

The Supreme Creator sealed the demons away

into the depths of the Abyss.

Peace returned.

But peace is fragile.

Decades later,

the seal was broken—

opened by those who sought power they could not control.

The demons returned.

The War Without End The second war began.

This time, the world was prepared.

Humans, elves, beastmen, dwarves, and demi-humans wielded Edicts.

They were led by those history would later call wielders.

Yet even with divine remnants in hand,

the demons dominated the battlefield.

Despair once again spread across the land.

The Eternal Prophecy:

And once more,

the same light filled the sky.

The Supreme Creator spoke:

"This war shall not end."

"It will return,

cycle after cycle."

"When the world approaches the Thirty-Third Cycle,

Edicts will awaken beyond what is natural."

"Judgment will spread across all races."

"Balance will fail."

"And in that age,

the Continuant shall emerge."

"Not to save the world."

"Not to destroy it."

"But to carry it forward."

The light faded.

No name was given.

No promise was made.

Only inevitability remained.

My Blacksmith Savior
