Chapter 1

Sadhana, an orphan girl from Mumbai, graduated and came to Canada to join as a personal assistant to Rowan Smith.

The Smith Group expanded worldwide. Under this name, multiple wings operate-smart appliances, AI technologies, manufacturing industries, garments-almost 21 types come under it.

Rowan Smith was a person built over 6.2 feet tall, with broad shoulders. His silence spoke more in the boardroom where he stood. He wouldn’t give second chances to anyone. He was a man of his word; no mistakes were tolerated. He suffered from insomnia, which had not healed for the last 15 years.

Rowan Smith’s brother, Grayson Smith, was the hardest person to handle. He handled the mafia as well as ran governments from the backend. He was the most cruel person. No one dared to look at him or talk to him.

Grayson was the younger brother of Rowan. Both handled the Smith Empire from two sides. Their parents died in a car accident, attacked by rivals seven years back.

From then on, they didn’t allow anyone near them.

Two days back, Sadhana entered the boardroom after completing the HR formalities. She came to report to Rowan after completing her onboarding.

Rowan was reviewing projects while his design director presented on the screen and explained.

Sadhana opened the door and entered the boardroom very quietly. While entering, she saw that Grayson’s hot coffee cup was about to spill on his thighs. He didn’t notice it. He was on his phone, listening to the presentation.

Sadhana immediately went towards him and dragged his chair back before it fell on his thighs.

Everyone was shocked by her action. No one even dared to raise their eyebrows. The director who was presenting was midway through a sentence. He forgot to close his mouth or blink his eyes. Sadhana didn’t notice anything.

Grayson stood up from his chair. Sadhana just asked him, “Are you okay?” She didn’t know who he was. Her voice made him feel the smoothness of his mother, no lust, no other feeling. Purely his mother. He considered her as his mother figure.

Sadhana again asked him, “Excuse me, mister, are you okay? Did you burn anywhere?”

Rowan came and stood beside Grayson and patted his shoulder.

“Grayson, are you okay? She is asking you.”

Grayson just nodded his head and asked his brother to come to the cabin.

The meeting was adjourned immediately.

Everyone left with a pitied look at Sadhana, who was unable to understand anything and stood still there.

In the Chairman’s Cabin

Grayson stood resting his hand on the window, facing outside, and hadn’t opened his mouth for the last ten minutes.

Rowan noticed Grayson’s mood changes, but still didn’t ask his brother. He waited for him to speak.

Meanwhile, someone knocked on the door, which left irritation on Grayson’s face. Rowan, while reviewing some project documents, asked the person to come inside.

“Good morning, sir,” Sadhana greeted Rowan, who had his head down on the documents.

“I am Sadhana, your personal assistant.”

Rowan just nodded and passed her a tab while noticing her face-lips, eyes. Rowan fell for her. Maybe not possession, but love at first sight. He was unable to realize that he was staring at her until Sadhana waved her hand in front of his face.

“Sir, do you need anything?” Sadhana’s gentle smile flattened him.

Grayson came forward and held her in a tight hug without giving her any space. Her eyes widened.

Rowan stood up from his chair and went towards his brother.

Meanwhile, Grayson kept saying, “I miss you, Mum. Miss you so much.” He didn’t realize that his eyes were welling up with tears.

Sadhana unintentionally raised her hand and moved it over his head, top to bottom, like a mother pacifying a five-year-old son after a bad dream.

After five minutes, Grayson realized what he was doing, distanced himself, and left the room.

Rowan went after him, asking Sadhana to go to her cabin-an attached cabin with transparent glass. He asked her to reschedule today’s meetings and move the work to tomorrow morning.

Sadhana went to her cabin and got busy.
