The Quiet Love of a Lonely Heart

All Rights Reserved ©

Summary

This poetry collection tells the story of a girl who often felt alone among people, but never alone among animals. From a very young age, she found herself understanding the silent world of dogs, birds, and small creatures more than the people around her. Many of these poems come from real memories — moments of helping injured animals, losing the ones she loved, and realizing that not everyone feels the same pain for them. While others moved on quickly, she carried those memories for years. These poems are not written to impress anyone. They are simply honest pieces of a heart that learned love, loss, and kindness through animals. Some poems may feel sad, but they are real — just like the memories they come from.

Chapter 1: No Friends

No Friends

In a classroom filled with twenty-three,

They all believed they were friends with me.

I was the monitor, the one they chose,

But my heart followed a different road.

While children laughed and ran outside,

I walked where quiet feelings hide.

Near the road, beneath the sky,

A lonely stray would always lie.

With biscuits in my trembling hand,

I walked to him the best I can.

His tired eyes would softly shine,

As if his silent heart met mine.

I didn’t know what was wrong or right,

I only knew his eyes were bright.

In that small moment, strange yet true,

It felt like friendship slowly grew.

Then one day a story found my soul,

Of Hachiko waiting in the cold.

Ten long years he stayed the same,

Still waiting for a friend who never came.

My heart broke reading every line,

His lonely wait felt just like mine.

I cried for days, I couldn’t pretend,

That love like that could ever end.

But when I told the world around,

No tears, no feelings could be found.

They heard the story and walked away,

As if those words meant nothing to say.

That was the day I came to see,

How different this small heart could be.

While others forgot what they once knew,

Those silent eyes still felt so true.

Maybe someday, somewhere above,

I’ll meet a soul who understands love.

Not perfect, not strong, not wise or grand,

Just someone with a gentle hand.

And even if no one stays with me,

I know where my heart will always be.

With silent paws and faithful eyes,

Under the same wide, endless skies. 🐾
