Chapter 1 - Regina

Glancing in the rearview mirror for the millionth time, my fear of being followed doesn’t dissipate, not even with nine hours of separation.

David and his pack struck sooner than I thought they would. I had just graduated and turned eighteen yesterday, officially making it legal to bond with a pack.

With social-climbing parents, it was easy for David to receive their blessing to court me. The law works in their favor, as all of-age omegas must either be part of a pack or live under their parent’s roof.

It’s a fucked up rule most omegas loathe.

My bastard parents kicked me out one minute after I turned eighteen.

David and his pack were waiting for me at the end of the driveway. They couldn’t touch me as long as I was on my parent’s property. All seven of them leered at me with hunger. In their eyes, I was their omega.

With the money and power they have in our small hometown, everyone already saw me as the Pierce pack omega.

Anything I needed was charged to David’s card. No one bullied me during the last two years of high school. They knew better than to harm the Pierce’s omega.

When they first came to my parents about courting me, I scoffed and told them to fuck off. I knew who they were. It’s hard not to when we all grew up together, even if separated by a year.

The Pierce pack didn’t take kindly to my rejection.

By the next morning, our engagement announcement was in the newspaper, on social media, and the television.

They backed me into a corner and knew it.

Later that night, they were over for dinner and gifted me an engagement ring. Once we married, it would be replaced with a band.

For two years, I suffered from their possessiveness and obsessiveness.

I had planned to leave and should have realized they wouldn’t wait to bite me once I turned eighteen.

My biological clock told me to fuck off, and the start of my heat kicked in while I was standing defiantly on my parent’s driveway.

David and his pack growled, sniffing the air. I stepped back, horrified at how my body enjoyed the sound. It craved their knots.

Thank goodness they didn’t step onto my parent’s property, as I’d be in their bed taking their knots right now if they had.

Instead, they left only one alpha to stand watch from his vehicle. David warned me when I became inconsolable with the need to be knotted, he would be back to sweep me into his alpha arms.

An hour later, the pain grew intense to the point I knew if I didn’t act, the Pierce pack would own my life.

I strolled to the vehicle, my body shuddering as pain rippled through me. Greg rolled down the window, his creepy smile making me want to gag. But damn, his alpha pheromones had kicked in, and my needy omega demanded to be knotted.

I’d whimpered, giving him what he wanted.

He leaned over to open the door for me to swing in. When he did so, I took the knife from my jacket pocket while pretending to pick up the bag I dropped. One thrust of the sharp blade into the tire was all I could do before darting to my tiny car. Burning rubber out of the driveway, the grass kicked up as I didn’t bother reversing.

Greg was yelling on the phone when I looked back. It was the last time I saw him.

Since then, I haven’t seen a single car following me, and it’s sending my anxiety spiking.

There’s no way the Pierce pack would have given up on me this easily.

Groaning, my knuckles turn white against the black steering wheel as a wave of intense pain slices through me. I don’t dare pull over. If I do, they will have time to catch up.

Reaching the edge of a small town, a light on my dash turns on—the stupid check engine light.

I had ignored it this past week because the guys would have known I was up to something while trying to fix it. David had informed me once I was officially their omega, I would never drive myself anywhere. One of them would be at my side, even if I wanted to have a girl’s day out.

The bastards didn’t trust me—rightfully so.

I hadn’t scent bonded with them. That didn’t matter to them. They wanted me and only me.

Groaning, my vision blurs violently. With the only course of action I have, I pull off the dead road and into the nearest parking lot. To my utter luck, it’s a mechanics garage.

Maybe I’ll have some luck after all.

I fear for my engine when I aggressively yank the gear into park without coming to a complete start when my vision goes black.

I don’t get out of the vehicle, not daring an alpha to walk by and scent me. It won’t matter if they are my scent match alphas or not. They will go into a rut. I can’t have that happening. I won’t force anyone to help me through my heat because of my hormones.

Staying safe within my vehicle is the best course of action.

A knock on my window has me jerking in startled fright.

What I see has my thighs clenching and cunt begging to be stretched by a fat knot. Holy fuck is this man delicious looking. My omega preens, wanting to give this alpha a reason to rip my car’s door off and fuck me senseless, ending with a knot stuck inside me.

Fucking alphas.

“Ma’am, are you Regina Beasley?”

The terror at hearing my name sends icicles down my spine. The scent of burnt peaches fills the cabin. With shaky hands I try to insert my key fob, but I can’t get it in.

“Ma’am, I can’t let you leave. Your alphas are terrified for your safety. They sent out a notice through the police departments informing us their omega had been attacked and was fleeing for her life. You have nothing to be afraid of. They are on their way here to safety bring you home.” His eyes are sincere. The police officer believes he’s doing a good deed.

Screaming, I double over in pain as a cramp has my insides twisting viciously.

“Shit, you’re in heat,” he shouts though I barely hear him through the ringing in my ears.

“Back the fuck away from our omega Rogers,” a low voice snarls.
