🥀Chapter 1🥀

The first cries of a newborn girl echoed through the sterile hospital room, but the faces of her parents remained stoic and disappointed. They had dreamed of a son to carry on the family name, to mold into the image of their beloved firstborn.Instead, they were presented with another daughter, an unwanted reminder of their failure to produce an heir.

Little did they know, this tiny bundle of joy harbored a strength and resilience that would defy their expectations. From her first breath, she fought against the indifference and neglect that surrounded her. As she grew, so did her determination to prove her worth, even in a family that saw her as nothing more than a mistake.

This is the story of a girl who learned to love herself despite the coldness of those who should have cherished her most. It's atale of overcoming adversity, finding acceptance in unexpected places, and ultimately discovering that true love comes from within.

Rose, named after the delicate flowers her grandparents loved to cultivate, grew up in the shadow of her parents' disappointment. Asa child, she would often escape to the garden, finding solace among the roses her grandparents had tended with such care. There, she imagined their loving spirits watching over her, providing the warmth and affection her own parents couldn't.

Years passed, and Rose blossomed into a young woman, her beauty rivaling the roses that surrounded her. She carried herself with a quiet dignity, a silent strength forged in the fires of neglect. Her parents remained distant, their love reserved for her brother and the traditions he embodied.

One fateful day, Rose discovered an old letter hidden among her grandmother's belongings. It was a heartfelt plea from her grandmother to her mother, begging her to love Rose unconditionally and see the precious soul beneath the unwanted gender.

You were hunched over your homework, trying to focus on the numbers and equations that seemed to blur before your eyes. The silence of the house was deafening, broken only by the occasional creak of the floorboards as you shifted in your chair.Suddenly, the door swung open, and your mother walked in, her heels clicking against the hardwood floor. She surveyed the room with a critical eye, her nose wrinkling at the sight of your cluttered desk.

"Wehave guests coming over tonight,"she announced, her voice dripping with disdain."And I expect this room to be spotless. Do you understand?"

You murmured a soft "okay, mom" and began gathering your books and papers, preparing to tidy up.

But your mother wasn't finished. She stepped closer, her eyes narrowing as she repeated your words in a mocking tone. "'Okay, mom.' Is that all you have to say?" she sneered.

As the door slammed shut behind your mother, the tears that had been building up in your light blue aqua eyes finally spilled over. They trickled down your cheeks, leaving a salty trail in their wake. You blinked rapidly, trying to stem the flow, but it was no use. The dam had burst, and the pain and loneliness you'd been holding inside came pouring out.

You buried your face in your hands, your shoulders shaking with silent sobs. The mocking echo of your mother's words rang in your ears, each syllable a dagger to your heart. 'Okay, mom.' It was all you ever said, all you ever did - obey and appease. But it was never enough.

As you cried, you felt a deep sense of despair wash over you. You were trapped in this loveless home, surrounded by people who saw you as nothing more than a burden. Your grandparents were gone, and there was no one left to turn to for comfort or understanding.

As the night wore on, you found yourself drawn to the stairs, unable to resist the temptation to watch the festivities unfold below. You crept down, keeping to the shadows, and peered through the banisters at the scene before you.

Your aunts and uncles were laughing and chatting animatedly, their faces flushed with wine and good cheer.Your parents sat at the head of the table, beaming with pride as they watched your cousin regale everyone with a story. He was the center of attention, his laughter ringing out above the din of conversation. You felt a pang in your chest as you watched them enjoy themselves without a care in the world. It was a stark contrast to your own lonely existence upstairs. You longed to be a part of it, to feel loved and included for once in your life.

But as you stood there, invisible and forgotten, you realized that this was never meant to be your world. You were an outsider, always would be.

Just as you were about to turn away, your cousin’s gaze landed on you.He pointed in your direction, his brow furrowed in confusion. “Hey auntie,”he called out, his voice cutting through the laughter and chatter. “Someone’s been noisy upstairs.”Your heart sank as all eyes turned towards the stairs, towards you.Your mother’s face darkened, her lips thinning into a disapproving line. She rose from her seat and began to ascend the stairs, her footsteps heavy with disappointment. You froze, caught like a deer in headlights.Part of you wanted to run, to escape back to the safety of your room. But another part of you wanted to stand your ground, to demand an explanation for why you were always treated this way

Your mother’s grip on your arm was like a vice as she dragged you back upstairs. Her nails dug into your skin, leaving angry red welts in their wake. You stumbled alongside her, your legs barely keeping up with her furious pace. “I told you to stay in your room,”she hissed, her face inches from yours. Her breath was hot and reeking of wine. “But you just can’t follow simple instructions, can you?”Sheshoved you roughly into your room and slammed the door shut behind her. You fell onto the bed, your heart racing and your eyes blurring with tears once more. Thesting of her words echoed in your mind, mingling with the throbbing pain in your arm. You were a burden, a nuisance - that much was clear. But why? What had you done to deserve this treatment?.

The muffled sounds of your sobs filled the room as you curled up on the bed, hugging your knees to your chest.Your tears soaked into the pillow, leaving dark stains on the fabric. You cried until your throat was raw and your eyes swollen shut, until there were no more tears left to shed.

As the night wore on, the house grew quiet downstairs. The laughter and chatter had faded, replaced by the soft murmurs of your family settling in for the night. But you remained awake, staring at the ceiling as shadows danced across its surface.

Something inside you had shifted tonight. A spark of defiance ignited in your chest, burning away some of the despair that had taken root there. You couldn't go on like this forever - ignored, unvalued, unloved. You deserved better than this.

You jumped at the sound of your father’s voice, your heart pounding in your chest. He stood in the doorway, his face etched with irritation as he took in your tear-streaked face and rumpled clothes. “Hey brat,”he barked, his tone sharp and commanding.“It’s time to clean up downstairs. The guests left a mess, and someone has to tidy it up.”Hegestured impatiently towards the door, expecting you to jump up and obey without question. But something inside you snapped. You were tired of being treated like a servant, of being ordered around and dismissed at every turn.Without a word, you turned your back on him and burrowed deeper under the covers. “I’m not cleaning up,”you muttered, your voice muffled by the blankets.“I’m tired. Leave me alone.”

Your father’s eyes widened in shock as your words sank in.He stared at you, his mouth agape, as if he couldn’t believe what he was hearing. Then, his face twisted into a mask of rage.“What did you just say to me?”he snarled, yanking the blankets off the bed with a violent tug.You shivered in the sudden chill, clutching your arms around yourself. “Isaid,”you repeated, your voice steady despite the fear coursing through your veins,“I’m not cleaning up. I’m tired. Leave me alone.”You met his gaze defiantly, a spark of rebellion burning in your eyes.

Before you could react, your father’s hand clamped around your ear, his fingers digging painfully into the soft flesh. He yanked you off the bed and onto your feet, his face inches from yours. You cried out in pain and surprise, instinctively trying to pull away from his grip. “You ungrateful little brat,”he spat, his breath hot against your face.“After everything we’ve done for you, this is how you repay us?”His other hand came up to grab your chin, forcing you to look at him.“You will clean up that mess downstairs, or I’ll make sure you regret it for the rest of your life.”

Your sobs filled the room as your father’s grip tightened, his fingers leaving bruises on your delicate skin. Tears streamed down your face, but you refused to let them fall to the floor - instead, you wiped them away angrily with the back of your hand.“You’re hurting me,”yougasped out between sobs, trying to twist away from his grasp. But he held firm, his eyes blazing with fury.“I don’t care,”he growled.“You need to learn your place in this family. And if cleaning up is too much for you, maybe we should find a new home for you. One where they know how to handle brats like you.”

With a final shove, your father released you and stormed out of the room, leaving you trembling and alone. You collapsed onto the bed, burying your face in your hands as the reality of the situation sank in.You had no choice but to obey - if you didn't, who knows what he might do?Slowly, you got to your feet and made your way downstairs, each step heavy with dread.

The living room was a mess - empty plates and glasses strewn across every surface, crumpled napkins littering the floor. You started with the trash, gathering up the debris and dumping it into a bag. Then came the sweeping and mopping, scrubbing at stains that seemed to have seeped into the very fabric of the carpet.By the time you reached the dishes, your arms ached and your back was sore.
