CHAPTER I - THE EMPTY ROOM

Nadia was a young, vibrant and beautiful girl who lives with her parents in Accra, the capital of Ghana. They lived in a gated avenue and she always goes to school in an expensive car. She attends the most popular school in Ghana, Haltward college. A form 2 student in Senior high school.

Everyone thought Nadia had everything in the world but to Nadia, she felt empty in the inside. Her mom was an Air Hostess and the father a doctor. Two of the most respected professions in the country. People admired her family from the outside - the big house, the nice cars, the prestigious schools. To the world the Mensah family had it all together.

This afternoon, Nadia came home to meet the same silence. Nothing. Just silence and the hum of the air conditioner running in a house were nobody was home. On the table, sat a sticky note in her mom's nice handwriting "Eat your food before it gets cold". Same note. Different day. Same loneliness.

Nadia stared at the food for a long time. Rice and stew(warm). Perfectly served for a girl who had nobody to eat with.

This time she didn't touch the food. She couldn't bring herself to sit at a table for three and eat alone. This routine happened over and over again - coming home to emptiness, finding a note, eating in silence, going to bed before her parents arrives.

Some days the silence was manageable.

But today it sat on her chest like something heavy she couldn't lift.

She had everything.

She just didn't have them.

Upstairs in her room, she sat on the the edge of her bed and opened her diary. One thing kept her going. Her motivational writing : I am going to be somebody.

It once felt like a promise but it now a question. Nadia asks : How do you become somebody when the people to believe in you don't notice you.

Nadia is still invisible.

Ku_Rolet: I love the story and the love between the couple. It doesn’t drag unnecessarily, which I really enjoyed.
