Stained Glass Memories
"Growing up I've always wondered what feelings are?Surely everyone have feelings but how can you change them?I've watched few series in which the male or female lead would break up with their ex and they will move on from it in just one night.But I don't find that relatable at all because how can you just move on from someone you claimed to love without even shedding tears?these kind of movies used to ragebait me and they still do." thought Emma while sitting in a movie theatre watching a movie which was getting on her nerves with the same plot.
Emma's best friend Katie was sitting beside her watching the movie with keen interest as if it was providing her eternal peace which somehow irritated Emma even more.Emma's eyes roamed around the theatre seeing a bunch of people ingrossed in their phones while many were interested in movie some also looked disgusted by it.Maybe Emma wasn't alone in this after all.She was shooked out of her thoughts as someone snapped her fingers infront of her.She looked up to find her mother Rose standing there looking at her with bright smile and warm eyes.
Rose:"What caught your attention,my sweet?"
Emma:"Nothing I'm just bored like always."
Rose smiled and gave a pendant to Emma.
Rose:"Keep this with you whenever you feel afraid or overwhelmed or sad just look at this pendant and remember me I'll come to you,my daughter."
Emma's heart melted at that and she hugged her mom tightly.She could always rest in her embrace before she had to face the world alone.
Katie:"ohhh wow dude the movie was awesome."
Katie noticed that Emma has slept so she shooked her shoulder roughly,"Hey, we were here to watch movie not to take a nap.Wake up, sleepyhead."
Emma woke up from her deep slumber and rubbed her eyes looking at Katie,"Is the torture finally over now?"
Katie grabbed Emma's hand and head out of the theatre.She practically dragged Emma along with her towards the exit.Once they reached there she realeased Emma's hand and turned to look at her,"What's bothering you?"
Emma avoided her gaze and fidgeted with her hands looking at the street.
Katie,"My wedding is in one week and my bestie isn't even showing any interest in it.What am I supposed to feel about it?"
Emma:"Look I'm really happy for you."
Katie:"You seem more jealous though.I am very disappointed in you."
Just like that Katie stormed out of theatre leaving Emma alone.
Emma cursed under her breathe and picked her phone to trying to book a ride,"It's already 11 pm.I won't get any ride.Guess I'll have to walk to home by myself then."
As Emma walked passed the tall buildings and the empty roads she felt a strange sense of loneliness in her heart.What has she earned by being nice to everyone?Her best friend Katie left her alone on road in middle of night too.As if it couldn't get any more worse it started raining.Emma groaned in annoyance and took shelter at a bus stop waiting for the rain to stop.Just then a car stopped by her.
