Chapter 1
And here comes another short story I wrote years ago for an ebook publishing company. Hope you enjoy!
“Bloody hell, Blakely; get your lazy ass up.” Cracking her eyes open to her roommate and best friend, Aussie. “Leave me alone, Aussie, it’s too early for your shit.” Blakely rolled over with her pillow over her head. “Nice under carriage, Blakely.” Raising her hand, she responded with the ever-so-popular finger.
“We are going to be late for work if you do not get that magnificent ass of yours up.” Moaning, she sat up and pointed to the door. Aussie took the hint, closing the door behind him.
Shuffling her feet to the bathroom that she shared with two others, closing the door, not bothering to lock it. Under the spray of the warm water, she felt her body begin to waken with a jolt, realizing that she had to work at the coffee house today.
Making a disgusted and very unattractive sound, she washed in record time and jumped from the shower. The door to the bathroom swung open as she wrapped the towel around her body, Aussie standing in the doorway with a challenging smirk. “Not right now, I’m running late.” Gliding past him and back into her bedroom, Blakely shifted through her not-so-great wardrobe and settled on shorts and a tank top.
A distinctive sound brought her eyes up to meet Aussie’s icy blue ones that took in her body as if he drank every curve of her in. “Aussie, do you mind?”
With a snort, “It’s never bothered you before, love. Why now?” Blakely rolled her eyes and dropped the towel, not paying any mind to Aussie’s whistles and cat calls. Modesty was not her strong point, she thought as she dressed. “You have a birthmark shaped like Texas.”
Stepping into her sandals, “So, you have a curved penis, but it will continue to serve a purpose, and so will my ass; it’s a moot point.”
Passing Aussie, he curled his fingers around the top of her arm, “Would you like to see what sort of purpose it does serve, and by the way, love, it isn’t curved. It’s long, thick, and ready to serve.”
With a throwback of her head, she laughed, grabbing his Aussie jewels, “What makes you think I want your little snake when I have toys that will make you pale in comparison?”
“Aw, Blakely, that hurts. How about you give me a go and see if you like?” Both laughing as they stepped out into the hallway, Aussie hooked his arm in with Blakely as they skipped off the last step.
“It’s about time, you guys.” Mya walked out of the kitchen with a plate of fruit, eyeing the couple closely. She always felt that the two made a cute couple if they both would just get off their high horse and admit it. Everyone else could see that they liked each other.
She smiled at both of them at the thought of them together and tilted her head in an ‘awe moment’. Blakely shook her head and grabbed two snack bars, handing one to Aussie. They walked out into the early morning, taking in the grey color of a threat of rain.
She always liked the rain, even as a kid, Aussie usually snuck to her house and into her room, living in a one-story house always made the fact easier, but knowing Aussie he would’ve improvised. There were a lot of nights that Aussie stayed the night with her, but once puberty hit, the nights were rare and few in between.
Aussie always made excuses as to why he couldn’t come, but she knew even at twelve why he stayed away at night. The thought of ever giving in to Aussie and his teasing never really crossed her mind; she always shrugged it off as just him being Aussie, her best friend.
Although the last few months had been weird for her after a dream she had of Aussie and not-so-nice activities, involving whips and blindfolds. She remembered that night quite well when her dreams first started with Aussie and her. She hadn’t really had a restful night since then. Blakely watched Aussie a lot and at times could picture herself with him, but if he didn’t reciprocate those feelings, she didn’t want to ruin the perfect friendship they had now. It wasn’t worth losing to her. His friendship would have to be enough for her, and that was just how it had to be.
Aussie had driven to Latte Grande and parked as Blakely ran through her thoughts and reminisced on her wet dreams of her best friend. “Hey, you alright, love? You seem off this morning.”
Time was not on their side as they were already late for work. “Were late, Auss, come on.” Gathering her shoulder bag, she stepped out of the car and headed to the front door of the coffeehouse with Aussie right behind her.
Aussie could see that something was bothering his mate and wanted to make whatever it was better for her. He watched her throughout the day, messing up orders and stumbling over her own two feet, things that she already knew, now forgotten.
“Hey, Blakely...lunch.” Aussie held up two sandwiches and nodded his head to a table in the back. Pushing away the hair that was falling in her face, frowning, she followed Aussie to the table and sat down beside him. Without a word, he let her eat in peace.
Blakely crumbled the Saran Wrap and leaned back against the chair. “Thanks, Aussie.”
“You’re welcome, love.” Aussie stuffed the last bite and leaned over to Blakely, wrapping his arm around the top of her chair. “Now you want to talk about what is bothering you?” Blakely furrowed her brows and bit at her bottom lip. Aussie sat uncomfortably as he watched her draw her bottom lip between her teeth.
“Nothing is wrong; I just didn’t get enough sleep last night.”
Kissing the side of her head, he brought her in against him, “because you didn’t send for me to sleep with you. I guess I’ll just have to come on my own accord.”
She shrugged her shoulders and looked around at the people who sat enjoying their coffee and the company they had. She wished that she could be that happy with someone; moving from relationship to relationship was getting old.
“What do you say to some friends getting together and getting drunk, it’s Saturday night, and I think that we could use a breather.”
Blakely livened up and looked into those eyes that she found comforting and smiled, nodding her head.
“Great, I’ll make some calls, and we will just have a free-for-all.” He leaned down to her ear, “and if we so happen to end up in the same bed, then so be it.” Teasing as he ran his hand over his meticulously groomed goatee.
“You perv, what makes you think I would ever let you get into my panties, Aussie?”
Aussie covered his heart, “You are the perv...I never said in your pants, love. I said in the same bed that we have been doing since we were ten.” Kissing the side of her head again and stood, taking their trash with him.
Blakely sat, shocked that she let that one get past her; she usually was more on her game and could banter with Aussie just as well as him. Aussie’s accent used to affect her, but after a while, she looked at it as just a part of him. Though she thought she was immune to it, now she wasn’t quite so sure.
