One - Raze

The sky was pitch black, even though it wasn’t that late, the winter sun giving in early and I took a swig of beer, rolling my eyes at the pair of them.

“You’re too fucking slow!” Grizzly laughed, managing to get Mack into a headlock but not doing much else with him.

“Bunch of fucking women,” Banks chuckled, Mack pushing Grizzly off him.

“I want you!” He shouted, pointing at me and I scoffed, finishing my beer.

“I would beat your ass,” I tutted, getting another beer from the cooler.

“Come on Pres, you scared?” Mack threw his hands up and beating the fuck out of a drunk brother wasn’t great but if that’s what he wanted.

“Kayo!” I shouted, him sitting on the floor, inches from us, making patterns in the ground with a stick. He looked up, his gray eyes identical to mine, to Ace’s but his dark hair not long enough, yet. “Come and sit with Uncle Banks,” I slapped the hay bale and he jumped up, the biggest grin on his face.

“Kayo, watch me hand your dad his ass,” Mack cackled and Grizzly pushed him against the hay bales making up the ring, bursting into laughter.

“Don’t listen to him Kayo,” I threw my empty bottle to the side, Banks sitting on the hay bale next to him. “Not once, have you ever beaten me,” I slammed my hand on my chest, Mack swaying, just slightly.

“Tonight’s the night!” He shouted and I threw a right hook against his cheek, him dropping to the floor with a thud.

“Raze!” Banks shouted, full of laughter and I grabbed the edge of Mack’s cut, his right eye already closing.

“You fucker!” He attempted to kick out, connecting one foot with my knee and I buckled slightly, not dropping and instead landing another punch into the side of Mack’s face.

“Tap out brother,” I chuckled, putting my knee on his chest.

“You’re a fucking cheat!” He laughed, failing at wiggling out of my hold.

“Okay,” I stood, wiping down my jeans and taking a step back. “Let’s go,” I shrugged, Mack slowly standing and I looked over at Kayo, his eyes wide in amazement and as I turned my head, Mack was charging at me, pinning me against the hay bale and punching the side of my stomach.

“You fucking bitch,” I groaned, grabbing Mack’s throat with one hand, swinging my foot against the back of his knees and he went down. Sitting on his chest, I got a couple of punches in as he tried to protect his face with his arms.

“It’s done, it’s done!” Grizzly shouted, helping me up and I dusted off my cut, before pulling Mack up.

“Hand me my ass yeah?” I laughed and he pushed me back by my chest, a huge grin on his face.

“Fucking cheat, Kayo,” he said to him and Kayo sat up straighter, listening. “Raze doesn’t know how to fight fair-”

“Fuck you!” I cut him off, going back to Kayo and Banks.

“Raze beat you Uncle Mack!” Kayo giggled, all of them bursting into laughter.

“As usual, let’s go, before Mama kills me,” I put him down, his tiny hand in mine.

“Got the gun money coming tomorrow,” Mack told me as we walked to the entrance of Grizzly’s farm. Banks and Mack’s bikes lined up.

“Just throw it in the safe,” I slapped his chest, knowing Fatty would sort out the cuts.

“See you tomorrow brother?” Grizzly asked and Kayo attempted to pull me by my hand.

“Yeah, I will be at the clubhouse,” I nodded, Grizzly crouching down to Kayo.

“Clubhouse tomorrow?” He asked him and Kayo nodded, his little mouth in a smile.

“I want to ride tomorrow,” he grinned, looking up at me.

“I’m sure we can manage that,” I laughed, the pair of us walking down the deserted sidewalk, the sound of bikes behind us.

“Daddy?” Kayo asked and I looked down at him, his hand still in mine.

“What’s up?”

“Did it feel good, beating Uncle Mack?” He wondered and we turned left, the house coming into view. Once Kayo was born, it was clear that our tiny apartment above a butchers was not enough and I finally gave Freya what she deserved, which was stability but in our usual way, it was Knights through and through. Our old barn style house was two over from Grizzly’s farm, enough land for me to fuck around in and a garage connected to the light brick walls, with my bike and Kayo’s. At four, he was the exact same age I was, when I got my first off roader and he had only had a spin a few times, but he would get there.

“Boy, let me tell you about Uncle Mack,” I chuckled, crouching down to him as we got to the bright red front door. “He runs his mouth and that’s fine,” I shrugged, Kayo’s eyes on me. “But to run your mouth, you must prove it and Uncle Mack doesn’t prove it,” I paused, unzipping his little leather jacket, the arms too long but he would grow into it. On the right side of the chest was just one stitch, the letter K. “So yeah, I enjoyed it,” I admitted and he giggled. “Shall we see if Mama cooked anything nice?” I suggested and he nodded quickly, his hand back in mine as I stood. The moment I opened the door, I knew my dreams had come true, smelling dinner.

“Baby girl?!” I shouted, putting my cut up by the door, helping Kayo take his jacket off.

“Kitchen!” She shouted back and we walked into the huge room, the kitchen sides a dark green with oak wood, the table huge and in the centre of the room.

“What are you making?” I asked, putting my arms around her waist as she was at the stove.

“Catfish and corn-”

“Baby girl!” I shouted, slapping her ass as I stood back. “Kayo, go wash up,” I told him and he ran out of the kitchen, Freya turning to me.

“You okay?” She asked, her hand on the side of my neck and I wrapped my arms around her waist again, our faces inches apart.

“Kayo wants to come to the clubhouse tomorrow,” I said quickly and she moved her eyes from my lips. “Can you stop perving, I am-”

“Do I even have a son?” She scoffed and I couldn’t help my laugh, my hands going to her ass. “Or did you have him by yourself?”

“This one might be a girl,” I shrugged, hearing Kayo stomp down the stairs.

“A daddy’s girl? I think that’s worse,” Freya giggled and I pulled her closer to me, her hands on my chest.

“You feeling okay?” I wondered and she nodded, a beautiful smile over her face.

“Tired but I’m good baby,” she kissed my cheek.

“I will sort dinner, go,” I whispered in her ear but didn’t actually let her move.

“Raiden,” Freya laughed.

“Mama, can I have two corn breads?!” Kayo shouted, making Freya jump.

“Whatever you want, baby.”
