Preface
Pov:Lexi --
It was stifling , like most nights in July. I was rustling in my bedsheets, I had woken up to close the window but it was still simmering. I slumped out of bed to go drink some water, when i was met with the face of my mother.
“What are you doing so late?” I hear my mom chime, she’s making ginger ale tea. The sweet aroma fills the room with a soft spice, the kind that tingles your nose when you try and sniff it.
“It’s Boiling,” I say, “I desperately need water”, It’s still hot downstairs which makes me eye the water longingly.
“You have school tomorrow, Get back to bed”
“At least let me get some water!” The truth is, I was dreading school, I had been transferred to Abbey High and forced to leave my friends behind, and all my mom could think about was how she doesn't have to pay a penny.
I reach for a glass as my mom gives one of her killer glares, I don’t pay attention to her though all i needed was water.
As I inhale my water,
The sad reality comes to me that i have to go to school tomorrow, Abbey High is the most lavish school I've gone to, not like I have went to any fancy schools, and for high school that was a problem. I didn’t want to be known as the broke girl who moved from Aberdeen, even though that fate was inevitable. My loose red curls and green eyes made me look like a leprechaun. I'd probably somehow catch the name of Tomato-Head.
I sluggishly climbed up the stairs, and got into bed, the room was much cooler or maybe that was a figment of my imagination.
