Chapter 1

He usually has brunch on Sunday and after that he watches a 70’s or 80’s movie which should correlate the Sunday noon feeling. He carefully pick the movies by researching on the weekdays where comedies or light hearted content as to delve into relaxation mode.

He absolutely avoids thriller, action or loud films for this ritual.

His family members are aware of this custom. After lunch, they left him alone in the hall.

And in one fine Sunday, after watching a beautiful film called “The gods must be crazy”, he went to kitchen for the water and on the way, he noticed that his mom was lying down in bed alone, which seems unusual.

“Where were they?” He asked.

“Who?” Mom wake up from her sleep.

From Kitchen he answered “ My wife and kid, did they go out?”

He didn’t heard back from mom while he was having water. He went back as he couldn’t bear the silence. “Didn’t you hear me? I was asking, where are they?”

Mom was sitting in the bed room in a shock looking at him and asked “ What happened to you?”

He couldn’t grasp his mom’s intention. “ What?” He remarked tensely.

“You sit down with me” Mom made him sit next to her and gently comforted him.

She didn’t speak for a moment. But he is unable to hold “ Mom, just tell me where they went, what happened?”

Mom wept with tears this time as she couldn’t control.

“What happened to you? They were dead 5 years ago.”

He got shocked hit him like a blow

“ No, no, there must be something wrong. They were here this morning, we had breakfast together, I told them I will finish the movie and at evening, will take them to beach. How come you say, 5 years, what happened to you, Mom?”

She continued with cry.

There is something wrong with Mom, I will call her. He went to the hall and took his phone and called her.

The line was busy. He was bit relieved. She must be talking to someone. I think she went out.

“Number is busy, tell me Mom, where she went?” He shouted from hall.

He could hear mom’s crying.

He again tried, It continued to say busy. He went to mom and she continued to cry.

He felt bad and went to console mom. “Everything is alright, she just went somewhere out. Look, number says busy” He called her again and put in speaker. Line continue to say busy.

“You are using her number in your phone. You are calling to yourself” Mom said.

He couldn’t grasp what just happened. They were with me till morning, I watched a movie and after that they just gone. It seems they had not been here for some time, but how come I feel they are with me when i was watching that movie.
