Chapter 1

“Be a good girl,” said Mr. Hernandez, her father. She smiled at him.

“Elvis, we are running late,” said Mrs. Hernandez, her stepmother. She looked at the car in which she was sitting. She was unsure what her stepmother’s problem was with her. She clearly does not show hatred towards her, but she does not like her either.

Mr. Hernandez smiled and hugged her. She hugged her father back.

“I will try to visit you,” he said, making movements from his hand. She knew her father was only squandering his words; he was not a man who kept his promises. He took a deep breath and turned towards his car. He got in the car and waved at her. She waved at him back. After a while, his car was out of her sight.

She sighed and turned. They had a flight in an hour, a flight back to Washington.

The building was old and elegant. Oxford University is one of the oldest universities, dating back to the 12th century. Hundreds of people, students, and parents, were gathered on the grounds of the University of Oxford, saying goodbyes. The weather was cold, and there were predictions of snowfall. The freshman looked confused and lost at the same time.

She dragged her luggage towards the building. She had to live here for four years; this building would be her house for the next four years. She won a scholarship, but she does need one because her father is an infamous business tycoon. She still wanted to do something on her behalf. She got the highest grade for her A levels.

She moved towards Wellington Square, to get keys for her dorm and get the enrolment procedure done. She dragged her luggage towards the reception. It was big and warm inside the building.

“Yes mam, how can I help you?” asked a middle-aged, obese woman, who had curly blonde hair.

She showed her passport. After seeing her passport the woman smiled.

“So you are Genesis Hernandez? Just like your name,” she said, but Genesis was wearing no expressions, she was vacant.

The woman looked vacant and made movements with her hand.

After her enrollment, she gave her the keys and sent her on her way.

Dragging her luggage she navigates through the corridor. She looked up; there was written F-33 on it. She put the key in the keyhole and the wooden door opened.

It was small, cozy, and decorated. There was too tiny bed and two side desks. There was a book shelve attached to the wall on top of the beds. A full-length window with orange curtains next to that sit two study desks. She entered the room and a girl who had pink braids and brunette hair was sitting on her bed with crossed legs. She had a tiny waist and a dark complexion. She was wearing a nose pin. Dark red lipstick looked so perfect on her thick lips. She chews on bubble gum. She got up and walked towards it.

“New roomie?” she asked. She looked at him, Blankley.

The roommate looked at her, confused.

“Hello?” she said, again but she did not respond.

She made hand movements to make her understand but the girl was unable to understand.

Just then the door opened. The girl turned but Genesis did not turn as if she did not know someone entered the room.

“Hello, Eve, how is the new girl?” asked a boy who had jet black hair and big green eyes, like Kety Perry.

“Miss arrogance,” said Eve.

“Really,” the boy said and walked ahead toward her.

“Hey, hello, mic check?” he said moving his hand making the girl startled.

“Stop it, Jason, you are being rude here,” said Eve. Jason raised his hand walked towards the bed and lay on it.

Genesis jinxed ahead towards her bed and started unpacking her luggage. She took out a photograph and placed it on the side desk. It was a woman’s photograph who had very wonderful teeth, she was smiling elegantly.

“So, this...how are we...you know?” asked Jason, looking at her.

Eve took a deep breath.

“She got attitude issues,” said Jason.

“At least, I can be noisy,” she said and started kissing Jason, passionately.

Genesis was working without any notice of what was going on around her. Two horny teenagers were making out next to her.

Just then the door opened again and they both looked at the door. It was a tall boy, who had height at the range of door. He had a lean muscular body, with tattoos on his arms. He had deep blue eyes, a sharp nose, small lips, and dirty blonde hair, styled in a British haircut.

“Haydon, perfect timing,” said Eve, rolling her eyes.

“Your girlfriend is looking for you, throwing a huge tantrum,” said Haydon. He had a thick English accent. He seemed to be born in Britain, unlike Jason and Eve who were American.

“Oh come, Patricia is a bitch, I told her we are over,” she said rolling her eyes.

The boy looked at her expressionlessly and then his gaze fell on a body sitting on the other bed, unpacking her luggage.

Her long light brown, curly hair was going down her waist.

He looked at Eve, confused.

“Our new, Roommate, miss Attitude, she does not talk, I don’t know why,” said Eve.

He walked towards the office chair nearby and sat on it. He turned on the TV and his friends started their ‘mating session’ again.

Genesis gathered her clothes and walked out of the room. She probably was going to take a shower.

He looked at her leaving and then put his gaze back on a flat screen.

***************

She took a warm shower while thinking about the changes in her life. She used to be alone in her house and even now she was alone; nothing changed.

She walked out of the bathroom and covered her body with a towel. Her long curly hair was flowing down her waist.

She closed the door. The shower was a bit away from the dorm. She turned when she saw something that made her jaw drop. The photograph, her very own mother’s photograph fell on the floor, the glass was broken.

She rushed towards the bed and grabbed her photograph, injuring her hand in the process.

Obsidian: He's hilarious. Like, actually. I loved it. You're writing style is great, although you could do with a few less murmurs and mutters. I know it sounds critical, but I have the same problem and I hate it. Overall, it was one of the best stories I've read on here so far. I liked it better than those M...
