Chapter one: Meg's new chapter at life
Chapter one: Meg's new chapter at life
The griffon house was as loud as ever lois was making dinner at night cris was sitting on the sofa watching tv, peter just drove into the parking lot of the house brion was in stewis room reading talking to Stewie meg had perfected the art of being ignorant pretending you didn't hear the drama or evil schemes of her brothers or father pretending to be a ghost was a skill she had to learn at a young age at some point when you keep seeking attention from the people who keep disappointing you at some point you learn to give up.
Sitting on the bed the room she had grown up in she took a glance around the blue furniture was nearly empty. The bed was as soft as ever, a shame it would be the last time she slept in it.
There, in her bags, she had a single plane ticket.
The lights in the room were off shadows coloured the room from the light on the side of her bed, dim but useful. She crushed up the white tablets into small edible dust that was the key to her freedom. It was harmless, really sleeping tablets wouldn't kill them if only she was that lucky. No. and even if they did die in their sleep meg would have been far away from here by then. This. This was the best way to go about this, no big fuss, no evil explosion or yelling. She was doing the right thing for herself for once.
She wrapped the powder into a plastic tube, then stood up her bags were hidden in her wardrobe the money she saved up should last her a while but not forever if she was lucky the exchange student program she signed herself up for would work but if it didn't then the streets would do she'd be able to get through it.she had to. Stuffing the tubes in her pocket she walked out locked her bedroom door and walked downstairs the air smelled of gravy and roasted chicken . She walked past the table where Stewie and chris sat.
“Hey, Chris, where's mom?” . she asked casually
“ she went to the store to buy some beer for dad”.
“ ok”. She closed the door. Meg made her way towards the gravy that was left to cool down uneconomically.
She reached into her pocket and she thought to herself, why doesn't she feel bad? Why doesn't she feel anything? What she was doing was horrible, a crime even? But she just felt like this was another task? Had she really gone insane, has the back of the camel finally broken? Or did it break years ago and the sands of manipulation blinded her?.
She mixed the white powder and gravy together with a wooden spoon and they would be asleep soon. She would steal her dads car to drive to the airport and soon she'd be gone. The thought left a smile on her face.
Once her parents came back she retreated back into herself a ghost of herself silent and unassuming as if nothing happened she sat at the table going on her phone as if she was always there in the first place cris didnt even look up when she sat beside him.the front door opened with a loud bang louis was carrying a drunk peter she sat him down the bottles he was holding dripping to the floor dark brown bottles clinking to the flor the chair almost broke when his massive buttcheeks planted themselves on the wood of the chair. “ damn it Peter”. Lois went into the kitchen cursing insults about her husband but not actually doing anything about it`she didnt try giving him water or sobering him up or taking away his bottles no all she did was complain and complain.
She watched her mother pour the gravy into each of their plates. She had watched her sit down picking up the fork and started to chew. It dint take long before they were out cold.everyone of them rested there heads on the table slowly meg got up and carried each of them to up the stairs and into their rooms reaching into her fathers pockets she took the keys and went into her room to get her bags.
Leaving quahog was the hardest scariest decision of megs life. She was still a kid herself technically despite what the country says she didn’t want to say goodbye to chris or Stewie but she couldn’t take it anymore.
Packing a bag she went the furthest away from cohog there was being homeless would suck but at least on the streets she wouldn’t get farted on in the face or ridiculed by her mother.
At least on the streets she wouldn’t hear the banging and moans from Mr Quagmire's home, at least on the streets she wouldn’t have to ignore her baby brother’s evil plan. Or the obvious favouritism in her house.
At least on the streets penniless and cold she wouldn’t have to be Meg Griffon.
Taking a deep breath she stilled her nerves.
This was it.
She was actually going to do this?.
The stars at night felt unreal to her at the airport. The air was cold and calm. It was anything but what she was used to; it felt like the calm before the storm before. It was nice. She could almost allow herself to relax if it wasn’t for every now and then something would move and make a sound? Geez she would have to get used to this.
She was never alone like this before? Never being able to sit quietly in peace without the chaos that came with being a griffin.
Her life had to be better this way.
Besides, the plane was almost here. She should go inside the airport and find a seat inside before someone else takes it. With a sigh she walked inside the building ready to start her new unexpected life she really didn't know how things were going to turn out life was all about risk and right now meg is taking the biggest leap of faith in her life this wasn't just a risk its the point of no return.
She walkted past the people in the airport swearving past them like a desprate fish in the sea spotting the woman at the desk she darted toeords the line of waiting people
She gave them her details and gave them her luggage befor hastily snatching the tickets out of the woman’s hands. It was rude yes but she wasn’t going to waste time when she was so close to leaving.
Walking around she smelled the reshily made bread and chicken from the built in restaurant. The smile of bitter burned coffee beans reminded Meg of the cheesy movie she watches on Netflix the acting was always horrible but maybe that was part of the charm? The reason people stay to watch? Her family was terrible but she stayed with them for sixteen years.
She skimmed the books on the shelf looking for the key that would ensure she wouldn’t die at the cause of boardom on the airplane.
Fingers lightly grazing the spines of the hard books sighing Meg almost gives up. Was there really nothing here worth reading? Not even a tick-tock book she saw while doomscrolling or a classic? Her grandma told her about That she would no doubt fall asleep to?. It’s ridiculous.
She almost gave up before a cover caught her eyes?
Star Wars? She never got into the movies but most movies suck compared to the original book unless she found a unicorn in a decaying desert. It could be worse?.
Meg was reaching out for the stern cover everything seemed in slow motion to her? Or maybe she is finally relaxed enough to not worry? Whatever the case she, liked? Being in her own world. This book is the first step to-
Someone slammed into her shoulder and almost caused her to fall befor her feet found there balance.
The shock and audacity caused her to snap out of her sweet new home in her mind, which most people refer to la-la land, close friends with delu-lu land. which cames to her ever so often when she saw some eye candy in her school hall.
She fixed her glasses Her cheeks burned with embarrassment she turned to glare at the bastard to hit into her.
The boy no taller then herself reekted with heavy calome. Meg wrinkled her nose almost retreating from him. Looking up they met eyes.
“ you bumped into me”. He said with crossed arms frowning
Is he serious right now? Meg waited for the punchline to this really unfunny joke? When none came she scowled she may not shout at her parents but she’ll be damned if she’ll let some guy gaslight her lifting her chin defiantly she spoke.
“ no I didn’t “. She matched his crossed with her own.
He gave a tight smile “ that’s funny because I was just standing there see over here”. He enfusized his point by rehearsaling his pose that he was in befor they spoke.
Meg frowned. He could not be serious? No one is this petty? Especially not a man? She’d prefer he just punch her then this?.
“ and you came over hitting into me like a steroid driven quarterback”. Going back to crossing his arms he spun around to look at the girl again he knew he was being an ass but if he could get her to walk away then he could grab the last copy of the Star Wars book. That’s what most people do it annoyed Steve that she was still here? He’d have to up that anti.
“ that’s bullshit “. Meg said bluntly
Steve raised his eyebrow humming in delight “ is it?”.
“ yes it is you bumped into me I was just minding my own business “. Meg was getting more annoyed by the minute she considered just leaving but she needed to buy the book first .
She let him ramble on about ‘ assault’. and ‘ getting the authority’s’. Tuning him out she turned and reached for the book.
His calls were cold and soft? While remaining being large. Like a fucking girls? There’s no way he takes care of his hands? What would that say about her? If some random guy had nicer hands then hers?.
In an instant they’re heads snapped towards each other they weren’t avoiding the massive myteporical element anymore. No. Not when the annoyance on both their faces were as visible as a raging pimple, sticking its disgusting head out into the free world.
Megs expression was a mix of emotions on one hand she was pissed! Rightfully so! On the other hand this all really didn’t matter? It was just a stupid book, dead trees and ink you can kind it anywhere in a local shop they even held buildings to dedicate to them? A place know to all ( but mostly old people) THE LIBRARY~.
Maybe she was just being petty? Maybe she really wanted to get into Star Wars? Regardless of the reasons she did know one thing she is not letting him have this from her!.
Steve narrowed his eyes at her In annoyance one eye was twitching, god was she stupid? Was he really going to have to spell it out to get it through her head?. His eyes slightly widened when she glared back the audacity of it all? She wasn’t really a Star Wars fan he bets she didn’t even read the books he can tell just by looking at her. He should be the one to have it, sure he already has a copy but it’s old and well used, he needs a new one and quite frankly he doesn’t want the hassle of stopping by a bookstore on the way home.
Steve felt her hand tighten from under his fingers her hand was warm not the noticeable kind at first in the very few encounters he has had with women he knew a all girls hands are different, some are boiling to the point Steve is convinced they did nothing but stay in the sun, others were sweaty, some were cold and the worst encountered he had was when a girls hand felt dry and hard.
He leaned in closer, trying to use his hight to intimidate her, they warn’t even a foot apart it was more like an inch dispite his set back in hight, Steve was very much bigger in other places.
Being this close Steve noticed she smelled like gravy and ……something else? Something Steve doesn’t think he could buy in a perfume store? He didn’t know what it was he was smelling? He assumed it was some sort of girly perfume? But with a mother like Francine who tries almost every product at one point he wasn’t sure? It didn’t even smell like a DIY home made perfume with ‘ natural organic ingredients his older sister Hayley made at one point. That was a disaster, he shuddered at the memory. Maybe he was just distracted by the gravy and whatever. This is?. Is probably nothing.
Meg didn’t back down instead she stood straighter.
There eyes didn’t leave each other.
For some reason Steve didn’t feel shy around her or nervous the way he did in school when the girls would pass him? Glaring he opened his mouth to speak it came out a quiet demand.
“ Let go”.
She met his gaze head on and with the defence of a space solider she said
“ You first”.
The argument that followed fourth was a bit of a blur to Meg all she knees is that both her and Steve took there hands off the book and started to argue in the store voices rising with colourful language earning them odd looks from the people at the airport somehow both Meg and Steve’s body’s moved away from the book in the heared argument.
“ look I’m buying that book end of discussion!”. She shouted.
Steve grimaced then pulled out his wallet “ how much do you want for it?”.
“ I’m not letting you have it you fucking asshole!”. She shoved the wallet away.
Steve annoyance snapped “ your such a bitch!”.
Little did they both know that a kid went behind Meg and snatched the Star Wars book while they were arguing.
Both Steve and Meg spun towards the kid in horror as the checkout clicked.
“ great just great now none of us can have it thanks a lot!”. She screamed
“ hey this isn't my fault if you would have listened I would have been long gone by now so really this is on you”.he rolled his eyes already walking off.
Meg huffed and made her way to the plane.
The seat she was assigned to was at the far end where the doors are
