Summary

Was it Forrest Gump who said, "Life is like a box of chocolate, you never know what you gonna get." Well that could be said for Eric and Tanya's life. There is also a saying on the island, "Be careful what you wish for." Right after wishing that he could stop loving his wife, Eric got into a horrific accident and wakes out of a coma with no memory of his wife Tanya or the life they had prior to the accident. She is still crazy in love with him but to him she is just a beautiful stranger he just met. Eric is like a totally different man, opposite of who he was before. He is calm, cool and understanding or is he? Tanya seized on the opportunity to put the past behind them and start afresh. Will they be able to leave the past behind or will the past follow them to the present and into the future and IMPLODE the perfect life they are trying to create? “Why didn’t anyone tell me that I fucking kill my wife’s father?” Eric asked.

**********

Eric was beyond angry. “Fucking Bomboclatt,” he cursed as he paced the room.

It is one thing not to remember shit but for them to hide things from me is beyond fucked up.

Eric looked at the clock on the wall and then at his watch. He told them to meet him at 5 PM sharp. He looked out the window and saw no sign of their cars. It was already 5:15.

He was mad. ’Where the fuck are they? Hiding from me? All I want is the truth.”

Lloyd was the first one to shuffle in. He could see that Eric was in a bad mood. Eric was clearly on the war path again. He felt like turning around and walk back out.

Eric nodded his head in acknowledgement. "Glad you could drag your ass here, even if you are late."

Lloyd ignored the tone. “Lola ask me to tell you to call her,” Lloyd said rather cautiously.

“Who? Who the fuck is Lola?!” Eric asked.

Lloyd smiled. “Your project assistent. She said that you came to the office and you completely ignored her. She mentioned ice cold and she seemed upset.”

Oh the hovering chck.

Eric massaged his forehead. “Do you know what the nature of my relationship with her was before the accident?”

“If you are asking me if you were fucking her, I don't know,” Lloyd laughed as if the whole thing was funny.

Eric looked at Lloyd ready to let him have it, when Linden and Grandpa Will walked in and saved him from getting his ass chewed out. The conversation about Lola was immediately put on hold. Last to arrive was Rick and he seemed just as angry as Eric.

“This better be an emergency like you said. With you out on leave, I have to pick up the slack. I don't have time to be called to a fucking meeting with you in the middle of the day over some petty shit,” Rick said staring down his son.

“Middle of the day my ass! It’s fucking 5:30 in the evening Dad,” Eric said returning his father’s stare.

“Enough! What is the problem Eric?” Grandpa Will asked.

Lloyd put the lock on the door preventing anyone from barging in. When the Willbrooks men had a meeting, nothing said was to be heard by anyone except the members present. Normally they would meet at the men’s lodge with airtight security, but Eric wanted to meet in his office, which was just as airtight and secure. He built it that way.

Eric threw down the newspaper on the desk. They alll gathered around to see what in the paper had rattled Eric so bad.

Grandpa Will could not see without his glasses. “Will one of you tell me what the hell the paper says?!” Grandpa will asked.

“It’s the murder trial of Tanya’s father,” Lloyd informed the old man.

“Who gave him this shit?!” Rick asked looking at Lloyd.

“He asked me to bring him all the news paper I could find; what the fuck was I suppose to do?” Lloyd asked his father.

“Wrong question Dad; the question should be why didn’t anyone tell me that I fucking kill my wife’s father?!” Eric asked.

They all stood there speechless looking from one to the other. Even Linden was speechless. What could they say?

“Is there anything else that happened within the past ten years that I should know about?” Eric asked. They all looked at each other. There was so much that happened.

“I asked you a question. Is there anything I need to know about anything or anyone?” Eric shouted.

Rick passed his hand over his face. He was shock that Sahita had not fill Eric in on the situation with Luke and Tanya...the incident that ruined their marriage.

‘She couldn’t wait to tell him about the kid she claimed he had with Mila. She must have forgotten about Luke.’ Rick mused.

“Rick I hope you have fill him in on everything about the business that he needs to know, same for you Linden...everything he needs to know." Grandpa Will told his sons.

"Of course. He has been coming into the office a couple hours per day, but lets be real. Our work is complex and with his memory... not what it was. He is not going to learn this all overnight." Rick answered trying not to mention the words memory loss.

"I am cool with that. Eric is welcome to everything I know about business. I don't have a problem with that." Linden said.

"I wish you would stop talking about me as if I am not right here!" Eric said getting more angry.

Eric looked at each of them with blood in his eye. He wanted to break something and he would have if his grandfather was not present.

“What is it about Tanya that you are not telling me?” He looked to Lloyd. “You...you live with us; what do you know?” He asked pointing at Lloyd.

“Shit, you have gone and fallen for that girl all over again, haven’t you? The minute you tap that you were a goner,” Linden teased.

Lloyd hesitated. “Eric I have never seen you and Tanya so happy. You guys are about to have another baby; just leave the past in the past,” Lloyd advised.

‘Yes we finally found happiness, but at what cost? I just know that it will not last’

“Now Eric, getting angry is not going to help one bit. We all trying to help, but whatever personal things that happened with you and your wife, she should be the one to tell you...that is none of our business...although I think there are some things that is best left where they are, in the past,” Grandpa Will said.

“You have to know that I can’t hide from my past, eventually it is going to catch up with me. If you know something, please tell me,”

“You need to talk to Tanya,” Lloyd said.

“Okay, fair enough.”

“What did you find out about Mila? Can you tell me that?” Eric asked.

“She left the island for a while...right after she had the baby. From what little I know, she and your mother was banking on you leaving Tanya and get with her. When that didn't happen, she left but she is back. She is staying at your mother’s house.” Lloyd informed Eric.

Eric paced the room with his hands in his pocket. “So she gave the kid to Mom and left? Now she is back. She and Mom, they are up to something.”

“You have to know that they are planning to take you down, especially with Tanya pregnant again. You should take them the fuck out now before they fuck up everything for you!” Linden said.

"Take them out?" Eric asked.

Rick looked at his brother. He didn’t like Linden talking such shit in front of the boys.

Grandpa Will coughed. His sons knew that he was no saint, after all they learn everything from him, but his grandsons had no idea who their grandfather really was.

“That woman has been a thorn in our sides ever since she lied her way into our family.” Grandpa Will said.

“You shouldn’t have just ruin her father Pop Pop, you should have taken them all the fuck out,” Linden said.

Eric looked on somewhat puzzled at the direction the conversation had taken.

“Let’s not go into all that now; that is a conversation for another time,” Grandpa Will sternly said

“Duly noted...another time,” Eric said.

‘What the fuck did Grandpa Will do to my other grandfather...my mother’s father. Yes we will come back to this conversation another time.’

“What can you tell me about Neil Wilson? He seems to show up everywhere Tanya and I go,” Eric said.

Linden laughed. “You have something that he wants.”

“The investment properties?...I already know that; what else can you tell me?”

“I am not talking just that Iyah; nothing is new under the sun. From creation the source of man’s woes have been land and women,” Linden said going off on a tangent talking in parables.

Lloyd walked away as if he wanted nothing to do with that subject. Eric looked at his uncle and the truth finally dawned on him.

“You are talking about Tanya, aren’t you? He wants Tanya?”

“Don't trust that dude Iyah. I have my eyes on him and so should you. I have no proof, but it would not surprise me if he was behind your accident,” Linden said.

Eric looked at his uncle. "Was Tanya having an affair with this guy? Is that what you are all hiding from me?"
