Chapter 1

Every year, I've been excited for my birthday, ever since I was little. Growing up, I'd want to have big parties and lots of people come to them for me. I couldn't think of any reason to not be excited for my birthday. Except for the fact that this year was different.

I'm turning 18, into an adult. Birthday parties wouldn't have the vibes it once had. It would just be people talking to me about becoming a grown woman. It was tiring. I'd have to move out soon, find a decent city to move to, find a way to pay bills in a lawful manner because every city is damaged in some sort of way, even if you can'r see it. The curses done so. They attack us humans, and some find us as food.

It's the one curse that does so. His name is Sukuna, and no human stands a chance against him. Jujitsu sorcerers don't even make it, so I'm definitely not surviving if I ever meet him.

"Chloe, have you got everything?" My mother asks me from another room.

"Yes," I respond. I carry my belongings and set them down by the entrance.

"You grew up so fast," my father said. "There should be some place you can call home now."

I feel some sort of anger at them sending me off. Why as soon as your child turns 18, they must leave. I barely had any time to prepare for this moment, but I was forced to be ready when I wasn't. I push the anger down and look at them like I was okay with it.

"There should be," I say. There should be no chance that they would know if I died or not.

"You're so brave," my mother said. She hugs me and kisses me on the cheek. I'm gonna miss her embrace, so I'll cherish this for the rest of my life.

My father joins in and I accept. I wrap my arms around them and close my eyes, holding my tears back. I can't cry, it's not right for my age. Everyone says so. I bite my lip to hold in my whimpers and blink the tears away.

"Be safe," my mother says.

"And we love you," my father adds.

"I love you both too," I tell them. But I couldn't tell them something that I didn't know was for sure true. I picked up my things and walked out of the only home I've every known.

I looked back and thought to myself, it'll be easy to find a knew home if I forget about this one. I walked off and hoped for the best.

I scream as I feel myself being pulled by the hand. I kick the air around it in defense. I do it for a while until I realize nothing is there. I look around cautiously even if I can't see anything in this abandonded house.

"Stay back!" I yell out to the darkness. No response. Maybe it was just my imagination? Maybe it was part of my dream?

I curl myself in a ball on the floor. I wish I were home with my parents right now. No, my new home is somewhere else. The time with my parents is over. I have to know how to fend for myself, and not rely on anyone.

I close my eyes and imagine a new life. A life without curses. A life where people weren't so selfish. A life where I could see my parents again. A life where we all could be safe and not hide in the dark.

I wouldn't be here if those curses weren't so harmful. People probably would've gotten themselves together and realized all the horrible things they're doing to the world. But curses don't care about anything but hurting people and their own kind. Same with us humans, though we aren't as strong.

Just sleep, Chloe. Don't think about anything and sleep.

Finally, my journey has come to an end. I found a suitable home that I'm able to live in. Hopefully those curses don't come here often.

I set my things down and look around. It's decent. If only I felt the vibe of home from this new place. I'll have to get used to it, even if I don't like it.

I spend the day setting everything up and getting ready for a new life in this new place. I'll have new friends and neighbors now that I moved away. This all happened too fast, I can't move on with a snap of my-

I feel a force pull on my hand again. I hit the wall and I groan in pain.

"Ow.." I say. "What is that..?" I look down at my hand and see a mark?

"What is this??" I say in panick. It looks like an eye? I rub it but it doesn't come off. Did I always have this? It might've been a detail I've never paid any attention to when I was little. But I'm sure I would've noticed it earlier than this.

"Did a curse put this on me?" I wonder. I didn't see any. And what kind of curse would do this to me?

Suddenly, the force suddenly pulls me into the wall. Before I can react, I hit my head and everything goes black.
