Main Characters
Gu Yizhou – Alpha father. Calm, dependable, and successful. He rarely shows his emotions but has been counting down the days until his son comes home.
Lin Yuchen – Omega father. Gentle, affectionate, and a little overprotective. He carries years of guilt for not being able to raise his son himself.

The morning sun streamed through the large windows of the Gu family villa.
Lin Yuchen stood on a small ladder, carefully hanging the last photograph on the living room wall. It was a family picture taken only a few months ago. Although the three of them were smiling, there was still a faint awkwardness between them—a distance created by years spent apart.
He stepped down and stared at it.
"...Is it crooked?"
Gu Yizhou looked up from the sofa where he was assembling a bookshelf.
"A little."
Lin Yuchen sighed dramatically before climbing back onto the ladder.
"This is the fifth time you've said that."
"Because it was crooked the first four times."
Lin Yuchen glared at him.
"It was not."

After another minute of adjusting, Gu Yizhou nodded.
"There. Perfect."
Lin Yuchen smiled in satisfaction before looking around the spotless house.
The guest room had long since been transformed into Gu Tianyu's bedroom.
The wardrobe was filled with clothes in every style.
The bookshelves held novels, textbooks, and collectibles they thought he might enjoy.
Even the refrigerator was stocked with ingredients for every meal Lin Yuchen wanted to cook.

"It doesn't feel like enough," Lin Yuchen whispered.
Gu Yizhou walked over and gently squeezed his shoulder.
"You've been preparing this house for months."
"I know..."
Lin Yuchen lowered his eyes.
"But I've waited eighteen years to hear our son walk through that front door and call this place home."
Silence settled between them.
Both of them remembered the difficult decision they had made years ago—to let Gu Zhengwei and Wen Lihua raise Tianyu while they worked toward a stable future. They had visited often, celebrated birthdays together, and never stopped loving him, but they had missed countless ordinary days that parents never get back.
A sudden ringtone shattered the silence.
Gu Yizhou answered immediately.
"Father."
A familiar chuckle came from the other end.
"We're leaving now. Tianyu has finally finished packing. You two had better stop cleaning before you polish the floor away."
Lin Yuchen's eyes widened.
"They're coming?"
Gu Yizhou covered the phone with one hand and smiled.
"They'll be here in about an hour."
Lin Yuchen froze for exactly three seconds.
Then he rushed toward the kitchen.
"I still need to finish the soup!"
"And the dessert!"
"And... should I bake another cake?"
Gu Yizhou laughed quietly as he watched his omega disappear around the corner.
Their son was finally coming home.
And today, after years of waiting, they would begin learning how to be a family under one roof once again.
Gu Tianyu stepped through the front door with his luggage in hand.
Before he could say anything, Lin Yuchen rushed over with a bright smile and wrapped him in a warm hug.
"Welcome home, Tianyu."
Gu Tianyu stiffened for a second before awkwardly returning the hug.
"...I'm home."
Gu Yizhou walked over, took the suitcase from his son's hand, and gently patted his shoulder.
"It's good to finally have you here."
The three of them exchanged small smiles before heading to the dining room, where breakfast had already been prepared.
As they sat around the table, an awkward silence settled over them.
This was the first time Gu Tianyu had ever shared a meal with only his parents. Growing up, his grandparents had always been there to keep the conversation going. Without them, none of the three knew how to start talking.
Gu Tianyu quietly picked up his chopsticks, stealing a glance at Lin Yuchen. Wanting to break the silence, he cleared his throat.
"Um... Dad."
Lin Yuchen immediately looked up.
"Yes?"
"You... don't look like someone's parent."
Lin Yuchen blinked.
"Hm?"
"You honestly look like you're around my age. If we stood together, people would probably think we're brothers."
Lin Yuchen laughed, his eyes curving into crescents.
"That's because I'm a model."
Gu Tianyu paused.
"A... model?"
Lin Yuchen nodded proudly.
"I've been working as a fashion model for years. Taking care of my appearance is part of my job."
"Oh..."
Gu Tianyu nodded slowly, finally understanding.
"I guess that explains it."
Gu Yizhou let out a quiet chuckle.
"He spends more time choosing skincare products than I spend choosing business suits."
Lin Yuchen shot him a playful glare.
"And yet you still steal my moisturizer."
The tense atmosphere instantly eased, and for the first time that morning, the three of them shared a genuine laugh over breakfast.
The laughter gradually faded, and the dining table fell silent once again.
Gu Yizhou decided to keep the conversation going.
"So... how's life been?"
Gu Tianyu took another bite of his breakfast before answering simply.
"Normal."
"...I see."
Another pause.
Lin Yuchen smiled awkwardly, refusing to give up.
"Then... what do you usually do in your free time? Any hobbies?"
Gu Tianyu thought for a moment.
"Nothing in particular."
Lin Yuchen blinked.
"Nothing?"
Gu Tianyu nodded.
"I mostly study, train, and work out."
"But everyone should have at least one hobby," Lin Yuchen said with a gentle smile. "Watching movies, reading novels, traveling... anything that helps you relax."
Gu Tianyu simply shrugged.
"I've never really thought about it."
Wanting to comfort him, Lin Yuchen reached over and absentmindedly rested a hand on Gu Tianyu's leg while speaking.
"You don't have to be so serious all the ti—"
Gu Tianyu stiffened.
"...Dad."
Lin Yuchen looked up.
"Yes?"
"Could you... move your hand a little?"
Lin Yuchen froze.
He slowly looked down and realized where his hand had ended up.

"..."
"...Ah!"
His face instantly turned bright red as he jerked his hand back.
"I-I'm so sorry! I wasn't paying attention!"
Gu Tianyu cleared his throat and gave a small nod.
"It's okay."
The room fell into complete silence.
Gu Yizhou quietly lowered his gaze to his breakfast, pretending to be extremely interested in his bowl of porridge.
No one spoke for what felt like an eternity.
The breakfast, somehow, had become even more awkward than before.
The awkward silence lingered for a few moments before Lin Yuchen suddenly remembered something.
"Oh, right!"
Gu Tianyu looked up from his breakfast.
"Yes?"
Lin Yuchen smiled curiously.
"By the way... do you have a boyfriend or a gir—"
Before he could finish, Gu Tianyu answered in his usual calm tone.
"A boyfriend."
Lin Yuchen blinked.
"You... have a boyfriend?"
"Yes."
Lin Yuchen's eyes immediately lit up with excitement.
"Really? That's wonderful! So, what's your omega boyfri—"
"He's an alpha."
The dining room fell completely silent.

Gu Tianyu nodded casually.
"Yes."

"And your boyfriend is also an alpha?"

"Is that a problem?"

"Then one day, bring him home."

For the first time that morning, the conversation no longer felt quite as awkward.Lin Yuchen's curiosity only grew stronger.
"So... do you and your boyfriend study together?"
Gu Tianyu shook his head.
"No."
"He teaches me sometimes."
Lin Yuchen smiled.
"Oh? Is he good at academics?"
Gu Tianyu nodded.
"He graduated as the top student in Business Administration."
Gu Yizhou raised an eyebrow.
"'Graduated?'"
Gu Tianyu looked at his father.
"Yes."
Gu Yizhou repeated the word thoughtfully.
"...Mm."
A brief silence followed.
Lin Yuchen slowly put down his chopsticks.
"...Tianyu."
"Yes?"
"How old is your boyfriend?"
Gu Tianyu answered as calmly as if he were discussing the weather.
"Five years older than me."

Lin Yuchen blinked twice.
Gu Yizhou quietly sipped his tea.
"So... he's already graduated and working."
"Yes."
Lin Yuchen looked between his husband and his son before rubbing his forehead.
"Our son really doesn't reveal important information until the last possible second, does he?"
Gu Yizhou nodded in agreement.
"Apparently not."
Gu Tianyu tilted his head, genuinely confused.
"...Was that important?"
Both of his parents answered at the exact same time.
"Yes."
The synchronized response made Gu Tianyu pause for a moment before he simply nodded.
"...I see."
For a second, the room was completely silent.
Then Lin Yuchen let out a helpless laugh.
"I think I'm going to need another cup of tea before I ask any more questions."
Lin Yuchen leaned forward with a curious smile.
"So... what's your boyfriend's name?"
Gu Tianyu answered without hesitation.
"Shen Jingyuan."
Lin Yuchen quietly repeated the name.
"Shen Jingyuan... that's a nice name."
Gu Yizhou folded his arms.
"What does he do for a living?"
"He's a secretary."
Lin Yuchen blinked.
"A secretary?"
Gu Tianyu nodded.
"He works at Nova Horizon International Group, a multinational corporation."
Lin Yuchen's eyes widened.
"The Nova Horizon International Group?"
"Yes."
"I've heard of it. It's one of the biggest companies in the country."
Gu Tianyu calmly continued eating his breakfast.
"He works directly under the company's executive office."
Gu Yizhou gave a thoughtful nod.
"Impressive. That must be a demanding job."
"It is."
Lin Yuchen smiled to himself.
"So he's intelligent, has a stable career, and he's five years older than you..."
