I think I'm in a desert

Okay, I think I got myself stuck. I'm not gonna worry about being grounded right now. I'm gonna worry about this. I look around this new place that I somehow got myself into, not a place any 13 year old should be at.

Okay, think. Where was the last place you were at, Max? You were at home in New York City, and then the Krang just started swarming. I was looking for Pops, since he went missing, and I panicked at said swarming (who wouldn't). I thought my powers were gonna explode right there out of my hands and then I’d die. I guess they did explode, because this doesn't look like New York at all. Gotta find some food.

I walk around, possibly in a circle in the blazing heat looking for something to snack on. So hot… Maybe I shouldn't have brought my majestic cloak today. Speaking of which, it must've ripped when I landed.

I look up at the sky to try and find the sun, but the sky's all messed up too. FANTASTIC, now I'll never get back to New York!

Calm down, soldier. There must be something. Heck, at this point I'd eat one of Uncle Tello's “brain food” granola bars.

Okay, gas station! Pops always told me that if I ever see a gas station when I'm lost, go in there and ask to call home. Noted. I go in there and no one is at the counter.

Everything seems messed up, like people were desperate for food to the point where they didn't care who got hurt, because there's also blood.. No bodies though.

I grab a can of peaches, the only thing still unopened, shake it to make sure there’s still SOMETHING inside, and turn it upside down. Expired over 30 years ago, bleugh.. I guess it'll have to do, even if I throw up later.

I close my eyes, bear the smell, take a bite, and realize how long it's been since I last ate. Guess I don't really have a CHOICE now.

I eat it, and as I expected (and hoped wouldn't happen anyway), approximately 4 minutes later, I'm lurched over a trash can and throwing up. Now I'm back to square one. Nothing in my stomach.

Usually when I got sick (even BARELY, like a mild fever), Pops would rush to my side, carry me to the couch like I was a dying Victorian child, and fuss over me while I complained that I'm too old for chicken noodle soup and lullabies (Millie would also tease me for being treated like a baby). Now that I don't have it anymore, I'm starting to miss it. Guess I really AM losing my mind this time.

I look at my 3 fingered hand, a trait from Pops, and take in the magic glowing lines on them. They seem kind of squared, a checkerboard of sorts, almost like I was peeling away somehow. Yikes. Aunt April wouldn’t like that much..

I look up again at the abstract sky and notice that it's starting to get darker, so I try and find a place to sleep. Food will come later. I wipe sweat from my brow and notice that I'm starting to get awfully dizzy. Well, that's no good. I manage to see SOMETHING out there. Must be a mirage I suppose. False hope's better than no hope at all, as I like to say.

By the looks of it, appears to be a giant magenta turtle thing. I run, not caring if I collapse midway. I scream “HELP ME!” and I see someone get off the giant turtle. “Pops?” I murmur, swaying slightly as the guy who looks like my father catches me. “It's okay, buddy. Just rest now” and then I collapse before i can see his face
