Chapter 1
Hey Sasha where you going?” Josh called. I turned around. He was running to catch up to me. I smiled. “Back to the hanger.” He had a big question mark on his face.
“The hangar the place where they place government airplanes and fix them.” I explained quickly.
“Oh.” Josh stopped in front of me. I turned back around and started walking again.
“Hey Sasha why do you always go there?” Josh asked. I smiled again. “Curiosity killed the cat ya know.” I said waiting for Josh to say something. “What are you talking about?” Josh asked.
“Curiosity killed the cat, you know the saying right.” I said, on the verge from laughing. We turned around the next corner and almost rammed into two tall bulk men in suits. I grabbed Josh and pulled him back to a stop.
“Move out of our way.” Bulk guy one said. “No thanks I’ll pass on that.” I said quickly. “I said move.” Then he pushed me.
“Hey.” Josh said. “If you’re going to tell someone to move at least be polite about it.” I could tell Josh was getting defensive.
Then I heard a voice from the back of the two bulks say “Oh, get out my way I’ll deal with the peasants.” The two bulks moved out of the voice’s way.
Right there behind them was a teenage boy about my age 17. He had emerald green eyes and blond hair. He was wearing extremely expensive clothes that only the rich people wore.
“Shoo, peasants, shoo.” He said. Yep what I thought was right. He was a rich kid. “Hey we’re not peasants.” Josh said angrily.
“Well compared to me you’re considered peasants.” He said grinning. “Enough, Josh.” I said quickly.
Before Josh could say anything. “Hey rich kid, what time is it?” I asked. He looked at me like I was some science experiment gone wrong.
“2:00, why do you ask?”
“Oh crap, I gotta go.” I cried. “They’re going to close the gate in five minutes.” “What’s wrong Sasha?” Josh asked.
“What’s wrong that I’m going to be late!” I explained. “And what does that have to do with you?” The rich boy asked. “Never mind that, I’m going to run for it.” I cried. “Here josh.” I threw my books at him. I stepped out on the road. Then I took off running.
“Wait, don’t close the gate!” I yelled. The guards looked at me. They didn’t stop closing the gate. “Fuck.” I muttered.
I started to run full speed towards the gate.
I slipped through the gap that was left between the wall and the gate.
“Hey you weren’t on the invitation lists.” One of the guards said. “Yes, like I didn’t know.” I straightened up.
“Hey leave her alone she’s with me.” Someone yelled. I turned around. “John.” I said happily.
“How many times do I have to tell to call me Dad?” John asked. “Hmm, let me think. Five million times so far.” I said grinning.
“That’s for saving me there. I still haven’t been forgiven for the last incident.” I said.
“Oh yeah, I remember that day.” John said smiling. “If I remember correctly you were chased from sector twelve to sector zero.” A voice said.
I turned back around. “Adam.” I cried. I looked around the whole crew was back. “Wait what’s going on.” I asked. “Why do you ask?” Adam asked.
I looked at him then noticed the dark circles under his eyes. “Well, I’ll be damned you look like crap.” I said a bit too loudly.
“Oh really, you want to start with that now.” Adam said suddenly looking very angry. I gulped.
“Hey, you scientists get over here, we need to know what areas needs more protection or ammunition.” Someone called from behind me. I turned back around again. I smiled.
“Hey general.” I waved at him. “John fill Sasha in on our situation.” Adam said sternly. “But, why do I have to do it. She’s always disruptive in times like this.” John whined.
Adam gave him the stare. “You took her in did you not?” “Yes, well-.” Adam interrupted John. “You signed the papers. You get to do the job of explaining everything to her. You walked yourself into this problem so deal with it.” With those words he turned his heel and walked away.
“Sasha why did you have to make him angry?” John asked.
“What? All I did was compliment him on his good looks.” John started to laugh.
“So what did Adam want you to tell me?” I asked John.
“Oh, well um …..” John faded off. I smacked him on his back.
“Come on tell me. I can take whatever comes so, don’t worry about me.” I said smiling.
“Really?” John asked. “Are you sure about being involved in this stuff, Sasha?”
“Yep, I’m totally sure about this. Plus if I wasn’t involved I’ll be bored as hell.” I said happily. John looked up at me.
“Okay.” John said. “We were attacked again.” John said miserably.
“How long ago and who was taken?” I asked. “Sasha they were looking for you.” John explained. “You’re an extremely suitable host.”
I looked at him. He looked depressed.
“Well too bad for them. I’ve already chosen my side.” I said while smiling. “I’ll go wherever you are because you need protection more than I do.” I said truthfully. John sighed.
“Oh by the way explain why I’m a perfect host.” I said.
“Later right now you need to wait until I need your help.” John said trying to sound stern but, sadly, was failing.
“Okay, I'll wait.” I said happily.
Okay it’s time to give you a little update about me and where I am.
So it’s year 2031 and nothing much has changed from our used to be modern age.
I was born in 2014 on November 15. I have brownish red hair and multi colored eyes.
There is a perk to why people think I’m normal. That is because I wear brown eye contacts.
I don’t like drawing attention to myself.
I am white but have a goldish tan. I’m an extremely fast runner and I come from a rich family.
It didn’t work before and it never will. I hate dresses.
Okay enough about me.
In the year of 2024. The world’s electronics were infected with a computer virus that went worldwide.
This was no normal computer virus.
It was a living electronic virus. Once the living electronics came across a suitable host it would possess it and claim it as its own.
Now we live in places called Area 1 through Area 12. There used to be billions of us now there’s billions of them.
Humanity is very close to extinction. There now you’re up to date.
“Hey Sasha wake up.” John said.
“Mm, what do you want?” I groaned.
“What I want is you to get up and come with me.” John said quietly.
“Fine I’ll get up.” I groaned again. I opened my eyes to find someone’s face an inch from mine. I freaked out.
“Holy crap!” I shouted. I slammed my head into the other person’s head. The other person was knocked backward.
“Sasha you don’t have your contacts on.” John said worriedly.
“Of course I don’t I ran out of contacts around last night.” I explained.
“Ow that hurt but I’m okay.” The other person said. “Hurry we need to go they do not like to wait.”
“Yep, we hear you.” John said sympathetically. “Come on we have some negotiations to do. I sighed.
“Who got caught?” I asked. “Josh.” John said angrily.
“What?”
“It’s going to take a few hours to get there so brainstorm about what we’re going to trade for them.” I nodded. “Got ya.” I said quietly.
The plane finally landed. I turned to john.
“Are you okay?” I asked. He looked at me.
“No Sasha I’m not.” John Said sadly. We got out the plane. All of a sudden John put his hand in front of me.
A man appeared in front of me. He was holding a gun to josh’s head.
“This is what I was trying to explain to you.” John said sounding depressed. I looked at Josh. I took a step closer.
“Are you okay?” I asked. Josh nodded. I sighed.
“You are such an idiot you know. If you wanted to get involved you could’ve asked me.” I scolded him.
“You would’ve said no anyway.” Josh muttered. I grinned.
“I would’ve challenged you to a duel.” I said. His eyes widened. “How am I supposed to win?” Josh asked. “Nobody can beat you.”
I looked at John. “I’m going to do something stupid.” I said happily. I looked at Josh again.
“It’ll be your fault if I lose.” I said.
“What?! Sasha don’t do it!” Josh cried.
“I challenge you to a duel!” I shouted. I heard someone laugh.
“I accept your challenge.” Someone said from the shadows. It was a boy about 15 years old. He had completely white hair and had tattoos all over him. They were the shapes of the wires on a circuit board. His eyes were bright green.
I grinned.
“I win josh goes free and we get over to our base safely.” I said. “If you lose?” He asked.
“Well you’ll find out.” I said loudly.
“Hey john can I please have my sword back?” I asked. John looked at me. “Sasha we took that from you for a reason.” John said seriously. I groaned.
“Don’t be like that. I’ve challenged him to a duel therefore I can’t back down.” The boy cocked his head to the side.
“The girl is right. She has challenged me.” He said slowly. His eyes started to glow a shade of green.
“She cannot escape me.” He said his voice amplified with power. I looked at him a bit more closely. His circuit board tattoos were glowing a light shade of green.
“Was that supposed to scare me?” I asked. He looked at me curiously.
“John you know how I am.” I said sternly. John nodded.
“You also know I don’t go down without a fight.” John’s eyes widened.
“You knew?”
“Yep totally. To the government we’re nothing but trash waiting to be taken out.” John nodded.
“Therefore as your commander I order you to give me back my weapons.” I ordered. “Yes, ma’am.” John said sadly. He opened up the bag he brought with him. He pulled out my sword and my guns.
“Here.” John tossed me my sword. “I’ll hold onto your guns.” I grinned while I caught my sword.
“You know me too well doctor.” I said slyly. I pulled my sword from its sheath. The metal started to glow orange yellow. I positioned myself where I was in fighting stance. Josh pointed my gun in the air.
BAM! He pulled the trigger. I grinned. I raised my sword over my head.
“Here I’ll make it easier for you.” I said.
Then I called the elements. “Earth."
"Fire."
"Wind."
"Water."
The elements immediately responded. Lifting me up a foot in the air. I took a deep breath.
“Banishment!”
“Show thy soul stone!”
All of a sudden, I felt a burning around my throat. A black and white stone had appeared connected to my throat.
“Sasha no!” John cried.
“We haven’t perfected your techniques of fighting!" I smiled.
“Exactly why I’m doing it.” I explained. “You guys may have already almost perfected them but I haven’t been able to even try to perfect it myself.” I said truthfully.
I looked at him.
“That’s the key to my techniques.” I said quietly. I turned back to the boy.
“Let’s get started.”
He nodded.
“Oh are we fighting royal swordplay or no.” I asked while I tensed my muscles.
He smiled. “Yes I am going to use royal swordplay.”
"This will be fun!"
