Prologue

You must protect your neck at all costs; exposing it is an invitation to the vampires that lurk in the shadows. They are drawn to vulnerability, and once you give them that chance, their fangs will find their mark. Perhaps you don’t know who I am or the journey that has led me here, but I promise to share my story with you soon.

Right now, though, I’m desperate to escape these relentless creatures. The world around me has faded into a blur, consumed by fear and urgency.

Suddenly, a rough hand clamped over my mouth, and the stench of something toxic wafted toward me, filling my nostrils and clouding my mind. My heart raced as everything around me slipped into darkness.

I gradually regained consciousness, and the world around me slowly became focused. As I pried my heavy eyelids open, I took in the familiar contours of my room, the soft light filtering through the curtains casting gentle shadows on the walls. With a determined effort, I shifted my body, feeling the stiffness in my limbs as I pushed myself into a sitting position. Glancing down at my wrist, I focused on my watch, its dial glinting softly, a reminder of time slipping by.

The clock strikes midnight, and I am in awe of how swiftly time has slipped away. It's almost surreal, this feeling that the hours have flown by in the blink of an eye!

I take a moment to glance away from the ticking watch clasped tightly in my hand, its relentless seconds urging me onward. My gaze sweeps across the dimly lit room, finally resting on the heavy door at the far end. With a surge of adrenaline, I dash towards it, my footsteps echoing against the hard floor as I push myself to move faster, my heart racing with the urgency of escape.

As I anxiously paced my cramped room, the heavy silence of the old house pressed down on me.

The tightly locked door felt like a barrier to freedom, fueling my sense of entrapment.

My heart raced as I walked along the narrow path between the bed and the wall, my mind racing with thoughts of escape. The soft creaks of the ancient wooden floors echoed in my ears, heightening my sense of panic and isolation.

I desperately hoped to see the door unlocked, envisioning a glimmer of hope beyond it.

“This isn’t real! That can't be happening!” I cry out, my voice rising in disbelief.

The words echo in the small room, each repetition a frantic attempt to grasp the impossible truth. My heart races as I pace back and forth, my footsteps quickening from one wall to another, feeling the cool surface beneath my fingertips. Anxiety floods my mind, and I can hardly contain the whirlwind of emotions swirling within me.

The soft glow of moonlight cascades through the open window, illuminating the room with a silvery sheen. As I pause after my mad, insistent pace, an irresistible urge compels me to turn back and behold the scene. The gentle light dances across the floor, creating ethereal patterns that invite me to linger just a moment longer, captivated by the serene beauty of the night.

It intensifies my dread of vampires, wrapping me in a shroud of unease and anticipation as I imagine their dark, penetrating eyes lurking in the shadows.

I gaze intently out the window, the world beyond shimmering in soft light as I gradually approach the glass pane. My footsteps echo softly on the floor. Each step draws me closer to the outside scene, where colours dance and life bustles.

A deep sense of dread grips me as I contemplate the thought of dying in this room, surrounded by the stark walls and the echoing silence that seems to close in around me. The air feels heavy, thick with an unsettling stillness that amplifies my fears, making the space feel suffocating and isolated.

With both of my hands resting on the soft fabric of my rich purple curtains, I gently tug them apart, allowing a narrow slit of night to open up. My gaze is immediately drawn upward, and I gasp at the sight before me: a striking full moon glowing fiercely in a deep crimson hue, casting an eerie light over everything. The unexpected beauty leaves me momentarily speechless. I instinctively touch my lips in disbelief as I slowly retreat from the window, feeling both awe and a hint of unease wash over me.

I’m feeling completely lost and overwhelmed by everything that’s going on around me. A storm of confusion swirls in my mind, and the most pressing thought is about my mum—where is she?

I can’t shake this gnawing worry about her well-being, and I desperately need to uncover the truth behind this chaos.

A chilling presence lingered beside me, sending a shiver down my spine. Suddenly, a smooth, haunting voice pierced the heavy silence, drawing my attention and wrapping around my senses.

“Amber…” it whispered, the name echoing in the stillness like a foreboding melody. In that instant, panic surged through me, and I couldn’t suppress the scream that erupted from my lips, a sharp cry that sliced through the night air.

I turn to see a figure standing before me. His striking blue eyes sparkle with intrigue, framed by tousled blonde hair that catches the light.

Justin Dustin. I feel a deep sense of dread whenever he's around, a knot tightening in my stomach that makes me want to avoid him at all costs. His presence sends shivers down my spine, and my heart races with fear at the thought of facing him.

I part my lips ever so slightly, allowing a soft breath to escape as I take a few steps backwards, feeling the cool air brush against my skin.

“I-I-I—how did you manage to slip in here?” I stammer, my eyes wide with surprise and a hint of fear.

I pivoted to face the door, its surface solid and unyielding, before turning back to confront him. He had moved closer, his presence filling the space between us. As I instinctively stepped backwards, he mirrored my retreat, advancing toward me with an unsettling determination. I found myself pressed against the calm surface of the wall, my heart racing. Closing my eyes in desperation, I turned away from his penetrating stare, focusing instead on the stark texture of the wall beside me.

A lingering fear still grips me when I think of him. His presence sends a chill down my spine, and the memories of our encounters haunt me, making my heart race at the mere thought of seeing him again.

I glance back at his face, and a predatory smile spreads across his lips, revealing sharp, glistening fangs that glint in the dim light. He steps closer, his presence overwhelming, and leans down to brush his lips softly against my neck. The warmth of his breath sends shivers down my spine. The gentle kiss on my skin feels both intoxicating and electric, stirring an exquisite tension that hangs in the air between us.

“Could I please bite you?” he pleads, his voice laced with desperation as he gazes up at me, a mixture of longing and urgency in his eyes.

I hold back the tears, my throat tightening as I close my eyes, willing away the emotions threatening to spill over. After a moment, I open my eyes slowly, the world around me coming into focus. As I prepare to turn away, I feel Justin's firm grip on my arm. He pulls me gently yet firmly against his chest, offering solace in his cold embrace, and I can feel the steady rhythm of his heartbeat against me, anchoring me in that moment.

“No, Justin!” I exclaim, my voice rising with urgency as I feel frustrated.

I struggle against his tight grip, feeling the pressure of his fingers digging into my skin, but every attempt to break free proves futile. He opens his mouth, drops his fangs into the soft, exposed skin of my neck and drains my body of blood.

A soft moan escapes my lips as a wave of dizziness washes over me, the world around me blurring into a hazy swirl. I feel my limbs growing heavy, and just as the edges of my consciousness begin to slip away, I sway unsteadily, teetering on the brink of oblivion.

Once again, I find myself in the bustling heart of London, immersed in the vibrant atmosphere of this event. However, amidst the excitement and the whirlwind of activities, I seem to lose all memory of the details that unfolded during this occasion!
