The rain falls.

It is an incessant sound, unrelenting.

My curtains are drawn tightly, and the room is shrouded with black shadows, despite the approaching morning. Even after being awake for hours, my eyes have yet to adjust. I throw off my covers, and stand, squinting into the room. Maybe I will make some tea for myself....

In fact, the sun was beginning to rise. The sound of rain hitting the skylight is sharp and unyielding. I sigh, all pretenses of sleep floating away with it. The raining, the harsh tapping, has been going for hours.

tap. tap. tap tap tap.

I go into the kitchen, when I suddenly feel a sense of unease. The sun. It is rising.

tap. tap. tap. tap. tap.

I head back to the bedroom and open the window. The sky is blue behind my dark curtains....

tap tap tap tap tap tap.

I walk slowly towards the skylight.

tap. tap. tap. tap tap.

The skylight throws an odd looking shadow onto my carpet.

Slowly.

tap.

It isn't raining.

Rain doesn't fall in groups of five.
