Prologue
2014
It was as much as Jos could do to look at the pile of rubble where number 13, De Grey Street once stood. Even walking along the road had almost turned her legs to jelly. Her heart leapt into her mouth and she felt a familiar feeling of fear, one she remembered experiencing all those years ago. Her hair was greyer now and a network of fine lines mapped her face, but what aged her beyond her years was the haunted look in her eyes; a look that never wholly disappeared, not even when she smiled.
A crow’s sudden croak called her back to the present, but not for long; her whole being was transported back in time to a time when she and her friends were high on the promise of life and youth.

Hi ejo,
I just finished reading your story There But For Grace... and I loved it so much. Your writing is captivating, and I kept imagining how atmospheric and haunting it would look as a comic.
I really loved the opening scene in the prologue where Jos revisits the site of number 13, De Grey Street, now reduced to rubble. The way you describe her emotions fear, nostalgia, and the weight of past experiences would translate beautifully into a graphic panel filled with expressive detail and shadow. Also, the moment when Jos and her friends defy their landlord's warning and enter the mysterious attic room adds a layer of suspense and foreboding that would be fascinating to illustrate visually.
I’m a commissioned artist, and I’d love to bring your story to life in comic/manga form. No pressure though.I just think your work would look incredible in visual storytelling.
