Soo good👍
"The story is so unique and amazing. I love the wit and character development. The author has done a great job of fleshing out an intriguing plot. Absolutely loved this book.😍 I really hope to read more from the author 😊"
Wow
"I loved this novel! There was so much going on in this new but familiar world and the characters anchored the whole story perfectly. I really enjoy the concept the author created with the sapient plus community and how that could impact modern society in the not too distant future. The pacing was a little slow to start but picked up quickly and the last few chapters were full of action. The author left it wide open for more and I would love to continue reading about Maya's journey. "
Review
"Its frustrating with all the secets and I'd like her to question those more but all in all a really good story so far :-) "
Dont date your nemesis...
"Extremely good story! I loved the sarcastically funny headlines and the plot was very immersive, made me "be there". The ending is greatly done and makes me want second book. There was few mistakes, but nothing bad and the authors writting style is very good. More books like this!"
I couldn't put it down.
"As far as why I gave mostly 4's, that has more to do with the fact that this is the first novel I'm reading on this site and am setting a kind of baseline than specific criticisms. I actually really appreciate the talent it takes to write an entire chapter out of dialogue and have it feel organic. I can't remember which number (I decided to wait until the end before reviewing) but there was a chapter of just Maya and Alex bantering in their apartment, and that was my favorite chapter. Obviously you can't (or shouldn't) make a whole story out of that, but those moments really help the story by grounding these connections. There's always going to be different interpretations of the "mind reader" trope, and it's always going to be hard to empathize with their choices, simply because it's hard to imagine that position. But I do feel like a good take on that is one where they need something much deeper than simple attraction. I guess what I'm saying is that the way this story went is much better than the Twilight series' "I love you because I can't read your mind", which is understandable but still quite shallow. This take on it was a little hard to understand but the story sometimes just demands that certain things are the way they are. The 3 stars for writing style really just comes down to personal preference. I kind of like it when the author sets the scene, giving at least a basic description of the room and characters before diving into things. I quite enjoyed the kind of streaming consciousness feel, just light on description is all. I'm still not sure on how I feel about having such an interesting setting, with so much potential to explore, but not really exploring it very much. The novel even gives a nod to all of this, pointing to social upheaval that is happening in the background, but not really noticed or even engaged with by the main character because she's so invested in her own drama. Its oddly believable and if this was parody I'd even applaud it, but as it stands I''m genuinely torn on that. I read a lot more sci-fi/fantasy than romance so I'm not sure how normal this is. There's a part of me that wanted to explore the powers a lot more. I was even quite surprised when I found out teleportation didn't work by "portal" rules, and by that I mean that momentum wasn't conserved. That you could potentially survive a 300ft fall by just teleporting those last few feet... unless I misunderstood something. But at some point I just sort of accepted that it's best not to think about the rules too much. All in all, it was a neat story though."
