An exorcist
The sound of the creaking boat in the calm sea is all that can be heard. Only one thing can be seen other than the boat in the dark night and that is the island believed to be called Zarenia. Few have ventured to this isle ignoring the stories about it’s curse – none of them have returned. While it is not certain what exactly is occurring on the island , it is believed the spirits of the fallen kingdom of the Zaren are haunting the land, killing anyone who dares approach.
Now comes the question ” Who in their right mind is sailing to this island?“. A very good question with no clear answer. On the boat sits a man , tall and strong in figure , scarred in many places , aged anywhere between 40 to 60 with a very tired expression, with long black hair curled up in a horsetail and a rugged black beard. His outfit is made out of heavy leather boots , heavy leather trousers , a leather mantle ending at his knees with a heavy leather torso covering him underneath. The man has no name or if he does , he has not shared it.
Raised in a specialized orphanage , the mysterious figure has no real past apart from his profession. You are not given a name in this institution. You are only taught to believe blindly in the powers of the beings or energies above you. You decide their shape or form so long as you follow their will to the very end. After 20 years of combat training, learning of curses and different kinds of abominations as well as all the currently spoken languages and constant praying, those truly faithful are guided by the “powers” to choose a weapon which then is engraved with runes specializing in dealing with the incorporeal in the world. Those who cannot choose are deemed unnecessary in the cycle of life considering they have no family, friends or faith, thus are quickly executed. After rigorous trials , the orphans are let loose into the world with one purpose – exorcism. There are exceptions in which the weapons lead the exorcists to deeds which have nothing to do with the cleansing of monsters.
The boat is almost at the shore of the island. Tall tropical trees are covering the land. Suddenly as the man is preparing to dock, an incredibly strong gust of wind strikes. The boat is blown into a rock with an incredible amount of force, however due to his sharp reflexes the exorcist reacts and jumps out of the boat right as it is about to crash. Now standing on the island , he could only imagine what awaited him after his warm welcome.
