Introduction

LILIANA

I look out my window, and what do I see? I see humans walk past my window and dorm room every day and every night. I notice one human with blond hair and dark blue eyes. His scent was picked up by the wind and was brought up to me. I smelled it. It was a pleasant scent: a scent that brought pain to my throat. It had a strong royal and sporty smell, one that I was interested in. He turned to look at the Moonlight schoolhouse. He saw me and waved to me with a smile. I smiled and waved back. Then, he turned and left with his group. I always thought that he was very dreamy. Oh, I almost forgot to introduce myself. My name is Liliana Marshall. I am 17 years old and a vampire. My father is Luke Marshall. He is getting old, but every vampire in my town knows him as the great Vampire King; I always wondered why, but it really doesn’t matter to me at all. If my people did consider my father as this famous title, then that would make me the Vampire Princess. I never knew my mother very well, but my dad says that I look so much like her and that he wishes she was here with us now.

I continue to look out my bedroom window and at the humans below. Yes, humans. A whole yard filled with them. You’re probably thinking, “Don’t vampires drink human blood?”. The answer to that is yes, but my dad had found a school that allows vampires to be on the same ground as humans. It is called Kane Academy, which is in the city of Floresville, Texas. A boarding school that has two different classes in it: the Moonlight Class and the Daylight Class. This school was established by Mark Kane, the most famous Vampire Hunter that we vampires have heard of. He is 5 years older than my dad and has sea-green eyes with curly auburn hair. He is the principal of the school and makes sure that no chaos happens.

I moved away from my window, growing bored of watching the humans walk by the gate of the Moonlight Class. Yep, that’s right. I said that I was a vampire, so that makes me a Moonlight Class student. I walked out of my dorm room and started walking towards my best friend’s room. My best friend is Chloe Winston. She is the best vampire girlfriend that I could possibly have. She thinks that Ash Johnson is the cutest male vampire in the Moonlight Class, but he isn’t. I knocked on her door and she answers, “Who is it?”. “It’s me, Ash”, I say in my boy's voice. “No, it is not. I know it’s you, Lily”, Chloe said. “You can come in”. I opened up her door and entered her room. Once I closed the door, I looked around her room. She had definitely changed it since I last saw it. She had put pictures of Ash on all her walls and had a picture of him in a heart. “Wow, you really did do a makeover to your room, didn’t you?”, I asked Chloe. “Yep, I really did, didn’t I?”, she replied with a smile, her green eyes bright with joy. I smiled back at her. She watched me as I walked around her room. “Does your father know that you are here?”, she asked, trying to break the silence.

“No, he doesn’t. I just wish he would stop telling every vampire in the world that I am the Vampire Princess”, I say to her with disgust in my voice.

“Well, you kinda are the Vampire Princess to us, Lily,” she replies. “Your father is like a king to our kind. I would give up anything to be you, Lily, and you are the luckiest vampire of all!!”. I looked at her with my red-orange eyes, putting fear into her. She looked at me with concern. “Are you okay, Lily?”, she asks me.

“Yeah, I am perfectly fine. Thanks for caring for me,” I say to her. Chloe gets up from her bed and hugs me very tightly. “Don’t worry about it, Lily, and don’t be afraid to ask me for anything. Alright?”, she asks me.

“Alright, Chloe. I won’t forget that” I say to her as we stand there, embracing each other. Once we were done, I let go of Chloe. “Are you ready for class tonight?”, Chloe asks me.

“You know that I’m ready. I’m going to be passing these classes with a fangtastic A+ in all of them!”, I say to her, showing her my enthusiasm for my third year of Moonlight Class. She laughed at me so hard that she started to cry. I started laughing too. We laughed our way out of her room together. When we came out, I bumped into another student. “I am so sorry”, I say to the stranger. “I didn’t mean to...”. I looked up and saw this really charming male vampire. He has dark yellow hair and dark gold eyes and had a smile on his face.

“Don’t worry. Let me help you up,” he says to me. I let him take my hand and help me up from the ground.

“I’m … I’m so sorry. I should have paid attention to where I was going,” I tell him, feeling my cheeks go pink with heat.

“It’s alright. I was just looking around anyway. I didn’t know that the female vampires were on this side of the dorms,” he said. His voice was light and had the sweet kindness that I liked, with a hint of roughness in it.

“I’m sorry. My name is Liliana Marshall, but you can call me Lily if you like”, I told him. “What’s your name?”.

“You’re Liliana Marshall? THE LILIANA MARSHALL? My parents know your father very well. He is the oldest vampire we know. Now, I’m sorry,” he says, laughing. “My name is William Clark, but you can call me Will if you want. I am a Moonlight Class student here. This is my third year here. It is an honor to meet you in person, princess”. He took my hand, put it to his lips, and kissed it very lightly.

“It’s … it’s nice to meet you too, Will,” I say to him, while my cheeks turned a rosy red again on my pale face. He smiled, letting his fangs show, then left me and Chloe there all alone. “Who is he?”, asked Chloe as she looked at me then at Will as he left us.

“I don’t know, but I haven’t seen him before,” I answered, looking at where Will had just left.

“It seems that you like him, Lily,” says Chloe with a bright smile. I smiled back then left Chloe alone by her room. I started heading toward my dad’s office when I bumped into Ash Johnson. “What are you doing out, Lady Marshall?”, he says as he bows down to me. “Please don’t bow to me,” I tell him. “My father might have said to do that, but I do not like it”. He looked at me with his amber eyes and said, “Sorry. I’m just doing as I am told. Lord Marshall wishes to speak with you”. I nodded my head slowly, not responding to his statement. I walked to my father’s office door and knocked. “You can go and get ready for class, Ash,” I tell him before entering my father’s office since he said to come in. He bowed to me again and left quickly.

I shook my head and entered the dark cold office that my father, who is the Headmaster of the Moonlight Class, worked in. He leaves me in charge of the vampires and makes sure that I keep them in order. “Ah, if it isn’t my little Tiger Lily”, he says as I enter the room.

“Hello, Father. How are you doing?”, I ask him with intention in my gold eyes. He looked up from his papers, glasses on his nose. His brown hair was messed up and his bright brown eyes had lost their joyous spark in them. “Have a seat, my dear, and I will tell you everything, alright?”, he says as he points to the chair in front of his desk.

“Tell me what exactly, Father?”, I ask. He replied, saying, “It’s about you going to the Daylight Class and staying there for the rest of the year”. I looked at him shocked and sat down in the chair that was in his office.

Obsidian: He's hilarious. Like, actually. I loved it. You're writing style is great, although you could do with a few less murmurs and mutters.
