Chapter 1

"Vicky, aren't you so excited? It's the first day of senior year," my best friend Melissa squealed. She was fixing her hair in the side mirror of her red convertible while we were at a red light. I didn't even have to look at her to know what she was doing, she did this at almost every red light.

"I'm just so ready to be out of that crap hole high school, ya know?," I replied, looking down at my phone.

"Yeah me too. I'm so tired of everyone. It's been the same people forever. I swear I know everything about everyone by now. We need something to spice things up," Melissa said.

"It's still going to be all the same people, Mel." I reminded her. No new students had joined our grade for two years. Everyone knew everyone. Unless you lived under a rock or you didn't care to learn other people's names.

"Hm. Well its a new year, anything can happen," she shrugged, turning the music up.

"Yeah right," I muttered.

"Hey, did you ever find out who moved into that house across the street from you?"

"It seemed like three college guys, but I didn't really get a good look, they were carrying boxes," I explained. The house across the street had been for sale all summer and last week the 'for sale' sign was finally taken down. Now that the house had new owners, Melissa had been dying to know who moved in, maybe hoping it would be the added spice she was looking for.

"Ohh... College guys... Are they cute?" I saw her face light up which made me smile. I knew exactly what she was thinking and the thought had crossed my mind as well.

"Girl, I told you, their faces were covered by boxes," I told her again trying to hide my smirk.

"Oh, come on! Who cares? Three college guys, living across the street with no parents? They're perfect relationship material, or sneaky material if you know what I mean," Melissa squealed.

"You're crazy. You know nothing about them! They could be serial killers for all we know and I need my best friend alive."

"I don't think serial killers travel in groups of three Vick."

Maybe she had a point. "Mel, don’t be that desperate. If you really want a boyfriend, find someone at school,” I told her.

"I've known everyone at school for too long," she whined. I looked over at her pouting face and laughed.

"Mel, you're too gorgeous to beg," I told my best friend.

"I guess you're right," she laughed with a wink. After all, she was tall and blonde with sky blue eyes. Anyone would be lucky to date Melissa.

"I'm always right," I reminded her.

"Almost always right. Anyways, get out of the car!! Skyline High School, first day of senior year here we come!" Melissa rushed, excitedly.

"I'm coming," I said, as I opened the door, grabbed my backpack and Melissa put the roof up on her convertible.

"Vicky, I think that those guys you were talking about might be high schoolers...," she said.

"What are you talking about?" I asked.

"Look," Melissa pointed to three motorcycles all parked in the same spot and nearby a group of three guys surrounded by girls probably offering to show them around.

"No way," I muttered. I hadn't seen any parents move in so I assumed that they were in college since there was a state school not too far away. Why would three high school boys live alone?

"I knew it, they're totally hot. Bad boys, I like it," Melissa said as she casually leaned on her car, but I could tell she was tense.

"How do you know they're bad?" I asked.

"Oh honey, don't act dumb. They drive motorcycles and one has bleached hair. And they're wearing sunglasses," Melissa explained.

''I wear sunglasses all the time," I reminded her.

"Do you drive a motorcycle?" Melissa asked.

"No."

"Exactly. See, you're not a bad boy."

"Yeah well maybe, I'm not a bad boy because I'm a girl. Ever think of that?" I laughed as she glared at me.

"Shh. They're coming over here," Melissa whisper-shouted, excitedly. I looked to see all three of them walking directly towards us.

"Hello ladies," the guy in the middle said. I rolled my eyes and crossed my arms. I could see the ego pouring off of him from a mile away.

"We're new here. I'm Axel," the guy on the left said.

"We know. We never get anyone new. I'm Melissa and this is Vicky. She's my best friend," Melissa introduced us.

"Vicky? You live across the street from us, right?" Axel asked.

"It seems like it," I said. I didn't realize any of them had noticed me when they were moving in. I could barely see them. I hadn't even seen their faces with the boxes covering them.

"These are my brothers, Jason and Zach. I guess we're your new neighbors then." Axel's words were polite but his tone had a hint of sarcasm and maybe mischief.

"Nice to meet you," said Jason.

"I wish I could say the same," I muttered.

"Oh feisty. So we were wondering if one of you lovely ladies could show us around for the day?" Zach asked.

"Yeah not me, sorry. I'm busy. Maybe one of those girls over by your bikes can show you around," I said, pointing to their motorcycles. To be fair I did have a lot of homework I had to get done.

"You see, that's the thing. They all offered to show us around," Axel explained.

"Okay? So take them up on their offer?" I said, confused.

"Hey, um I can show you guys around if Vicky's too busy to do it. We're just not used to having any new people," Melissa cut in.

"Sounds like fun, but I think I'm gonna hang with Feisty today. Have fun guys," Axel said. Did he just refer to me as feisty?

"Oh no. I will not be followed around by you today. I have stuff to do."

"I'll come too," said Jason, slinging his arm across my shoulders.

"Yeah me too," Zach joined in.

"Sorry, but I just met you guys and I never agreed to this. Also, ever heard of personal space?" I said, backing up.

"Come on, Vicky," pleaded Melissa.

"I have a very busy day," I said through my teeth trying to tell Melissa that we had other things that were more important than hot guys.

"Well, we're just going to follow you anyway," Jason said.

"Fine." I gave in, exasperated.
