Chapter 1
"I'm so exhausted, but really relieved that we're almost at Antonio's home."
My mom and I were exhausted--we had just left the airport. See, we recently settled in Canada, but when my mom's long distance boyfriend suddenly asked my mom for his permission to marry her my mother said it would be better if our families got to know each other before she actually said yes.
So her boyfriend flew us over on the private jet thingy all the way to New York. This would be life changing for all of us-- my mom, Antonio, his daughter and of course me.
I was surprised when my mother told me he was the manager of an American hotel chain. Wouldn't that make him pretty well off?
