Summary

“How far would you go for someone you love?” he asks. His voice trembles. So do his hands. For a moment, I simply stare at him. Then I meet his gaze. “I would hunt him to the ends of the world,” I say quietly. “And if someone took him from me, I would kill them a thousand times over.” My voice is calm. The promise behind it isn’t. What do you get when you put together a cold-hearted leader haunted by her past, a man of few words who spends more days in silence than in conversation, an unhinged lunatic who belongs behind bars, a hotheaded warrior ruled by his emotions, a jealous redhead willing to kill for the attention she craves, and a seemingly kind-hearted man who secretly holds the entire group together through sheer willpower? Heroes? Not even close. They are the Caelestius—six powerful warriors feared throughout the land of the living. Once they fought beside the gods in a brutal war against the demons. Now they are little more than legends. Killers. Monsters. Survivors. When a forgotten mission drags them back into a conflict they thought had ended long ago, they find themselves caught between gods who see them as tools and demons who want them dead. To save a world that never appreciated their sacrifices, they must confront old betrayals, buried secrets, and the ghosts of a war that refuses to stay in the past. Because the gods are playing their games once more. And this time, the Caelestius may be the ones who lose everything.

Forward

I have wandered this world for a very long time—far longer than you would imagine, and far longer than my appearance would ever suggest.

Some would call it a blessing. I call it a curse.

When you live long enough, you witness things no one should ever see. Empires rise and crumble. Entire bloodlines vanish. Cities burn. Wars begin, end, and begin again. In my case, it was worse than merely witnessing them.

I took part in them.

But that was the nature of the world I was born into—a world of chaos, bloodshed, and endless conflict. For centuries, gods and demons waged war against one another, and countless mortals were caught in the middle. To them, we were little more than pieces on a board, expendable soldiers in a game that neither side intended to lose.

It made little difference where a mortal’s loyalty lay. A demon’s blade and a god’s wrath killed with equal indifference.

Yet, in their own twisted way, the gods valued us more than the demons did.

They spoke to us. Guided us. Watched us.

And they discovered something unexpected.

Among humanity, a few were born different. Stronger. Gifted with powers capable of rivaling even the might of demons. Rare individuals who could stand where ordinary mortals would fall.

The gods saw potential in those people.

So they forged them into weapons.

They created the Caelestius.

Ku_Rolet: The novel was good, and I really enjoyed reading it. I love the leads and their bond, but I have one question that confused me. How could Tristan have been dreaming about his mate since he was a child if Omara was already mated to someone else before him? If Kyle had accepted Omara, would Tristan ne...
