My Touch Within' The Darkness, my life within' the light.

*Crackle*
Living in a desolate world, where wooden and stone houses were torn apart and stayed inruins.Trees ravaged and the once bright and serene land, now turned into a state of dystopia. Nothing remained but debris as the light came from the other side, a wall stretching between us the poor and rich. The castle that littered with music and light, opposing from the life we lived in. Where darkness settled in as their home, where the songs of the dead were never sang. There we sat on a damp wood in the middle of the night and in adark forest, the small ember we huddled around crackling. Staring at it with hope, it was being fed using our own clothes made out of dried animal carcases. We only begged for a miracle, even just a drop of it.
It first began long ago; people who areunfortunate enough to be struck with such disaster. That tore everything inside out, even the fabric of humanity itself. They named it--“The great disaster.”Spreading the news around the world, every nook of the land. As disaster strikes, people desperately held anything they can get hold of. Slowly but surely, eyes struck open indisbelief and pain. Surviving was their first thought. They rose up with pain stricken in their hearts, they hopelessly sought individually. As they gradually learned and turned into groups, assisting one another. As time went on, the groups were emerging. Slowly into abattalion, and surely into an army. The lies they heard, the pain that they fought through. “We bring terrible news,” ‘Lies’, they chanted in their minds. “Several small fragments of meteors fell from the sky, killing almost all of the population and destroying the land inthe process.” The government claimed that the meteors were inevitable, calling it “God’s plan!” They preached, the lies that they made were hid into secrecy. Buried, unlike the casualties by the disaster. Rotting above ground, not even having the proper burial that they deserved. They fought against the government, using anger and determination as their weapon.
“What did happened to them?” The curious boy next to me asked, onyx eyes glowing from the fire. My smile for a second turned into a frown, but I shook my head and gave a firm smile.I placed my hand onto his puffy hair, closing my eyes with a gentle sigh. “Look around you,” He slowly scanned his dark surroundings, his pursed lips slowly turning into a frown. “Can you see the aftermath?” I pitifully muttered as he gently shook his head. I silently chuckled, seeing the light from his eyes fade. “I wonder...” He started as I hummed in amusement, looking at the others around us to see them dead silent. It was no different from the other days I guess: looking at the fire, crying silently, and even sleeping in peace. “What if...only if--” I glanced down towards the boy, who’s no younger than me by a month. But far most, he was healthier than me.
“We made a difference, or even changed something?” The boy gave a bright grin, eyes smiling. An irritated grunt could be heard, receiving a glare from the others. “Huh?!” ‘Oh, we finally got a reaction.’ The others stared at him with the deliverance of confusion. The boy who tried giving hope wasn’t a bad thing of course but it is no different from-- “What do you mean by that!?” Roared by a guy right across of him, cutting my thoughts short. He stood up throwing his hand away from him, eyes shaking in disbelief of what he had heard. ”We are gonna die in this hell hole!” Straining the ‘We’, I frowned and raggedly coughed as I rested my head onto his short stature. Wrapping my arms around his warm and frail body, I can feel his beating along with my aching heart. Burying my face deep into his neck, taking a deep breathto inhale his lavender scent. Reminds me of one thing, sunshine.
They were starting to bicker, the boy next to me tried standing up but my grip around him was tight. The infuriated teen bore his fangs out, I can see pain and obvious disdain. Giving a sigh, I closed my eyes. “But couldn’t you see--” “See what, Juno?!” The boy roared, hearing displeasure from others due to the noise they were creating. “Stop this!” “What the hell, are you two doing?” “Kelvin, for Christ sake.” The boy huffed and back down, he wasn’t like this. This was surprising for me, obvious at how easily tamed he can be. Yet to approach the boy whose parents died because of starvation. I couldn’t help but let him burst and shout out his anger. It is unhealthy to bottle out emotions, well-- mostly living in this condition. We try to lessen the conclusion of death, aye?
“Nathan,” A gentle voice called, slightly opening my eye at where the peaceful voice came. It was no surprise, it was Angel. “Please forgive him, but I can not seem to ask...” Angel rubbed circles around the hot-headed boy, calming the poor boy. “What do you mean by see...?” she calmly asked, tilting her head as blond hair followed suit which ended scraping the log she was sitting on. “This.” ‘Huh...?’ I saw him-- no, felt him raise our hand. I gave him a confused look that even I can’t answer, this was surprising. The boy full of questions... gave answers...?
The others looked surprised by the word, and even statement when he raised our hand. “Kiel, inside hope..there is love, right?” “Yes.” I calmly answered, trying to eye out what his point is. He never became this unpredictable, especially in a world where unfairness and claimed the deaths of many. All of us ate moss and mostly herbs even if dysentery occurs. Boiling them into hot water won’t suffice when even the water and metal are corrupted with radiation. ”We have each other..." I can’t help it but roll my eyes myself, it was too cliché. After all, that’s what the rebels themselves thought.
I grumbled and scratched my throat, trying to ease my throat from its sore state. I looked around me to see them taking glances at me worriedly, I looked beside me to see Juno’s round eyes to see it knitted together. “This has been going for a whole month,” Juno spoke as I grinned, I laughed it off as I patted his head. I can not... let them know.
“Sore throat, that’s all.” I stood up and sat on the ground, patting right next to me. “Let’s go to sleep.” Please nod, please nod. “Are you sure--” I coughed once again, they rose their own suspicions but I cut them off with a “I’m fine, I just need sleep.” Juno nodded with a suspicious look, laying down right beside me with an obvious frown. I hugged his body and took his scent that was like a drug to me, he hugged back in instinct. He never hugged anyone except me, after all. When he confessed he was a blushing mess, his first instinct was to hug me. Taking me by surprise, he pretty much tackled me down. My favorite things about him is when someone asks for a hug, he gives out a glare and tell them too screw--well, you know how it goes. It was quite cute if I say so myself, he was like a puppy asking for a pet on the head. He buried his face onto my chest and mumbled inaudibly before going silent, I just nodded to him just to put him at ease. He always says things that doesn’t reach my ears, but I complied to his every wishes.
“Please,” But this very wish, it was an impossible feat even for me. I closed my eyes with a smile, snuggling with him closer as I kissed his forehead goodbye. ”Don’t leave.” was his daily nightly wish, that even God couldn’t grant.
