The Beginning
The Rebellion Against God
Mortals, Demons, and Angels; though they come in different forms, shapes, and sizes, these are the species that makeup life in reality. Above all else, at the top of the hierarchy, sits God. With absolute power and complete rule overall, it’s easy to see why we have faith in this all-knowing Creator. However, even after millenniums of searching, we still have not found the answer to the question that led us to this point. What reason would God have to abandon us?
History
Unexplained and incredible, filled with endless space, and home to an innumerable amount of solar systems. This is what our understanding of the universe was. Through trial and error, we have tried to understand the complexity of our reality. Unfortunately, with every answer we gained, countless questions arose. It appeared as if we kept straying further from the truth. Before the significant shift, we were already lost for words. But a single event would flip the world of mankind upside down on its head. This event would be known as the turning point for all of humanity, the beginning of the war for survival.
At the turn of the second-millennium mankind had considered itself to be at the peak of the food chain. This arrogant idealism would cause us to nearly become extinct. We do not really know when or how they first arrived or how long they have been here. Their conquest began by taking over positions of power, controlling everything from wealth to the media. Organizations with global influence became their pawns, easily swayed by their own mortal greed. Their impact would rally us against a false cause waging wars amongst ourselves.
Imagine if you could, continually running, hiding, on the verge of starvation. Everyday afraid to go out in the sun not knowing if you would be gunned down; restless nights dreading that your safe zone would be bombed. Suddenly, for unknown reasons, it was announced that the conflict had ceased. For that short moment, everyone was relieved, we had made it out of Hell, or so we thought.
From the shadows, they emerged. Their faces burned into the souls of their victims. When human violence ceased, they came out and continued the rampage. Bullets had no effect on them, merely bouncing off their bodies. What remained of the military was quickly disposed of. These beings were unaffected by all our efforts. Mothers watched as their children were slaughtered in front of their eyes mere seconds before dying themselves. Fathers sacrificing themselves in vain would be killed in front of their families. If we were not being slaughtered, we were eaten. Yes, at the turn of the second-millennium Demons from the depths of Hell had taken over our Planet.
Our species was brought to the brink of extinction, however, amid this turmoil. A specific organization that had been hiding in the shadows of history would appear. Having passed down the ancient arts from generation to generation, they were the only Agents who were able to fend off our demonic enemies. The secret organization, Ragnarok, would now choose to come to the front lines. The art of cultivating one’s life energy for combat was finally needed. Our enemies are beings who are unaffected by guns and other heavy artillery but fell at the hands of Ragnarok agents who used the energy from within.
Ragnarok was successful at holding a standstill with demons; however, the organization was unprepared to fight against a global invasion. Our numbers still continued to fall rapidly, leaving us on the brink of extinction. Before their attack began, our species totaled six billion members, now a millennium later less than fifty million remains. Our numbers have dwindled to less than one percent of what it used to be. Although our population has fallen dramatically, we continue to fight for our Planet to the last person.
Ragnarok has grown since those days, our stronghold stands tall, and our population is fighting for our home. Yet, unbeknown to us, at the time we were playing at a much smaller game in the grand scheme of this universal reality. This is the story of how we Rebelled Against God.
