That Night

It was my 7th birthday, and we were so happy. My parents asked me where I wanted to go and what I wanted to do. I remember it like it was yesterday, ha. Remember, the thing I wish I could do. Anyway, that day, I woke up with a smile on my face and went downstairs to see my special breakfast. I got hugs and kisses from two people. They got me new toys, and later, we went out.
That day, we went to the ice cream parlor, and I got a special birthday sundae. I was so happy. I asked to go to the park, and right when I said it, rain began to fall. It was super dark, and thunder began to rumble. They told me that we’d go another day and that we'd go home and watch a movie of my choice.
Seems like a sweet deal, so I nodded my head, and just like that, my world came tumbling down. It happened so fast, on that cold, dark, rainy night we got into an accident, the trailer hit us hard. Since the road was slippery, the man couldn’t control the wheel, which caused the vehicles to collide, and the last thing I saw was two unconscious people and, after that.....darkness.
I woke up in a hospital and the doctor asked me questions about my name, my parent's name, where I live, and all that stuff. The answer I gave him was, "I don’t know." The doctor diagnosed me with long-term amnesia, meaning I will never get my memory back. I couldn’t remember anything, not my family, home, life, or even name. Since I didn’t know my family, I’m now living in an orphanage. What a nice cherry for my depressing cake. What a nice 7th birthday, right?
Well, happy birthday to me. I guess.
