Vivian
I was made to be a protector. I was raised to be perfect. Taught how to fight and to act on demand immediately. I grew up as any other girl, or that’s what I thought. I was read historic novels and tucked into bed every night. I had friends that were being taught beside me, though they were always three feet taller. I later learned that they are my commanders. I have a human body and a bionic make up. I grew up like everyone else, I’m just stronger and smarter and yeah, I’m faster. Basically, I’m a superhuman. At least that’s what they call me.
I was once in a duel with one of my friends. I was 5 and when I was trying to dodge him, I ended up tripping him. I started to cry as I had hurt my friend. It was then that I was told to put my emotions aside. That I was too emotional, and it made me weak. From that day on I hardened. I perfected my non emotional stance. In this I became a weapon. A tool of mass destruction. The villain.
10 years later, 15 years old
“Vivian, are you paying attention.”
I blink, startled, and look over at my teacher. Oh, how the years caught up to him. He was once the best defender of the states, then he lost his arm. Most people are uncomfortable around him, as he is so stuck in his ways.
“Of course, commander.”
He looks at me sternly and continues on in his rant about Venom. Venom is an organization responsible for all the wrongdoing in the world. My enemy. I have not yet encountered them as I am still in training, but they are the worst of the worst, complete scum. As I look outside, I wonder what they are doing this very minute. The trees, the grass, the sun, him. They could be planning on destroying it all and I had yet to even step foot out there. I wasn’t allowed outside as I was of to much importance. I will be let out in a week, my 16th birthday.
“And their name, it’s just...”
Yep, I can’t wait to get out of here.
Joshua
The world is cold and dark, but it wasn’t always like this.
I remember a time, when I was 6, my mom was spinning around in a field and then they came. They destroyed everything and made an example of me and my mother. They brought us to the square and hung my mother for breaching the perimeter. I was crying and kept yelling for her, but she didn’t wake up. It was then that the guard came to me, grabbed me by the hair and wiped me. I was their slave for 4 years. It was there that I found their greatest weapon, her.
I was young, but even then, I knew. She was...pretty, so...innocent. I thought she was like me, trapped, starved, tortured. I was never allowed to talk to her and if they caught me staring, I was beaten. I quickly learned to keep my distance. At night however, she would sneak me food and we would talk. I learned her name, but nothing more as she always wished to hear about me and the outside world.
At 8 I found myself having a crush on her. She had snuck into a control room and turned on the radio. She then started dancing to the music. I was entranced. In a dark world, there’s an angel, enjoying every bit of life as to what she was limited. That night, was the first time she hadn’t visited me. I was afraid that she had gotten caught earlier and was being punished. So, with all the strength I could muster, I looked for her. However, what I found was worse then I thought. She was in her room and I heard muffled voices. I looked in and saw them disconnecting her arm.
“You must be more carful Vivian. What would we do if you broke down. We would have nothing and you need to forget that boy. He has put crazy thoughts in your head. Thinking you could be human. Ha, your nothing but a bargaining chip, a weapon. Now get to bed, before you cause anymore problems.”
Just like that the world was dark again, there was no angel, only deception. I hated her. After that day I ignored her, as she did me. It wouldn’t be till 2 more years when I was rescued by my father, the leader of Venom.
