A Pirate's Life for Me

I awake to screaming and shouting 'he's back' I think to myself, rolling over to look at the pocket watch that lay beside me on my bedside table, I open it up and put the face into the glow of the candle that is also sat on my table 3:52 am, the public house must have kicked him out. Again. He thinks just because he's a Commodore he can treat people like this, treat her like this.

I honestly don't know why she puts up with him, wait that's a lie I know exactly why she puts up with him I can even hear her voice in my head "He's good to us Eva, he looks after us and has provided us a life much better then we deserve" but she's wrong this man doesn't protect us, he isn't good to us in fact he's the one we need protecting from. But I'm getting ahead of myself; I guess first you should know who they are, who I am.

My name is Eva Victoria Smith, I was born on the sixteenth day of the ninth month in the year sixteen-fortytwo. That woman I was talking about earlier she is my mother Lillian Stone and the Commodore is her husband, Commodore Hector Stone.

The reason I don't have the same last name, he isn't my father thank the Lord. No my mother married the Commodore when I was but a child of six years; you see my mother was working for the governor as a maid, one day the Commodore came to visit and he was beguiled he said that my mothers beauty was like none he had ever seen before and that a face like hers should not be covered in dirt and filth.

Deciding he wanted her for himself he pursued my mother finally getting her to agree to marriage little did he know a child came with her, a burden he didn't really want but took on so he could keep my mother.

At first things weren't so bad, he would buy us gifts and take us out, showing off the beauty that had married him he even got me tutors so I would be educated just like the other girls my age in society. But then everything changed, he changed. After the elusive Pirate Captain Smoke eluded him-again- the Commodore became obsessed and started to drink his worries away. And he is not a happy drunk, he's not even a pleasant drunk.

NO, he's abusive and my mother always seems to get the brunt of it. Night after night he comes home and shouts at my mother for things she can't control, pours himself another whiskey and either falls asleep in his chair by the fire place or worse he takes my mother to their room and attacks her in other ways.

I've had eleven years of this, eleven years of hearing them fight or worse hearing them 'make up'. Since I turned seventeen last year things have changed slightly, the Commodore pays me more attention, he's started to be nice towards me leaving me gifts-inappropriate ones- and giving me smiles, he often lays his hands on my knee, some say like a loving father may do, only his hands have started to find themselves going higher and higher up my thigh.

I know what he wants, I have seen the ways he looks at me. I am not as Naïve as other girls my age. I know what men want my mother warned me at a young age due to our position as maids. I will not allow him to take my virtue from me nor my pride.

You see I have my mothers beauty, her kind green eyes though mine have specks of blue in them-something I inherited from my father-I also have her full lips ones that are naturally red, I even have her rosy cheeks. But there are differences between my mother and I though our bodies are very similar I have wider hips and my bodies curves are more...voluptuous as the dress maker put it. My breasts are also a lot fuller than my mothers something a corset does not help with, these are the main aspects of my body that the Commodore likes to ogle.

Yes the Commodore has turned his perverse ways upon me.

One night I even heard him talking with some of his men telling him that once I turn eighteen he was going to have me in only the way a husband should have a wife, though those are not the exact words he used. The only problem is my birthday is only three months from now, three rises of the moon until he will have his way with me the way he has so many women. The way he has had my mother. That's the part that hurts the most he seems to think that he will be able to have both my mother and I. But he is wrong for I will not be here in three months time. I'm going, leaving this dreadful place. Getting out of this house and out of the Commodore's grasp, I'm going to find my father and stay with him I know he is a sailor and that his ship docks here. This is my plan of Escape.
