Summary

Two detectives discover a disturbing scene. A splash of a strange stain on the floor, it looked like blood, yet it did not look like blood. It looked like red paint that was dried, then it was flash frozen. Even more disturbing was the body. A woman's body....or at least it looked like a woman's body. Like the odd blood stain it looked dried up and then flash frozen or something. It looked like the body had been there for weeks, dried up and even mummified. Yet they knew this was impossible. The woman had just been seen earlier that day. The lead detective decides to call upon the mysterious organization known as SPADE and special a special Agent known only as Ocelot is assigned to the task. Upon arriving Special Agent Ocelot uses her special abilities to determine what happened. She has the ability to examine something and be able to "rewind" the events to see how it is that things happened. Ocelot quickly deduces that something incredible had just happened in this house. This woman had been killed by something unlike anything else that had ever been encountered in history. To make matters worse Ocelot soon discovers that there are other victims. There is a serial killer on the loose with an ability to drain the very essence of life from the individual and it is up to Ocelot and her deductive eyes to discover the suspect.

Chapter 1

It was a disturbing crime scene, curious, but none the less disturbing.

“What do you think?” his partner Tabitha asked as she looked up from the curious stain on the floor. It looked like blood, and yet it didn’t look like blood. It almost looked like it was made by spilling red paint that was then dried and then it flash-frozen…or something. It was unexplainable.

“I don’t know,” he said looking at the scene.

He literally had no idea what in the world had happened. The scene was hard to fathom. There was a body, it was a woman’s body, or at least it looked like a woman’s body, it had long hair and a thinner frame that made it seem like it was a female. But it was in this curious state of decay. Like the strange stain that looked like blood this looked like it was dried up and then flash-frozen, the problem was that the last time that the woman was seen very much alive was earlier in the day, in fact she was even seen coming home from work which apparently was just a couple of hours ago.

“How did the call come in?” he said looking up to his partner.

“Apparently a scuffle was heard about an hour and a half ago.” His partner said looking down at her notes. “It was creating such a ruckus that we were called. We are the first on site.”

“So, whatever happened to this girl happened a couple of hours ago?” he said looking at the body again. That was a disturbing idea.

“Maybe we should call them,” his partner said.

“I knew you would say that,” he said as he rubbed his eyes.

Detective Umberto Zuniga did not really like them. They were called SPADE, a special investigation corpse that was part of the Internal Burau of Investigators (or the IBI). It stood for Special Paranormal Anomaly Detecting Emissaries, an elite and secretive part of the IBI with special training for circumstances like this. Umberto had only met a couple of the people who worked in S.P.A.D.E. he didn’t like any of them, they always gave him the creeps. It was because the whole mock up they had.

The one S.P.A.D.E. agent he met was called Wild Bill, he was…well to say the least a wild one. Umberto had the unfortunate luck of meeting him when he was at this investigation in which someone had spontaneously combusted a few years ago. Wild Bill had a heavy southern drawl and he spoke very broken and was hard to understand. But that was not the wild thing about him. Wild Bill would sniff the air like an animal and would pick up hair follicles claiming he could track the scent with them. The whole thing was very disturbing.

“I don’t like those guys,” Umberto said sighing heavily.

“So, you’ve met one?” his partner asked. Her name was Tabitha, or sometimes just referred to as Tabby. She was a young upcoming agent that had been shadowing Umberto for a couple of months now.

He looked at her with a sullen look. He remembered when he was so gullible about the members of S.P.A.D.E. that he wanted to join them, but now-a-days, especially after meeting Wild Bill he hated that idea.

“Oh, I met one alright,” Umberto said sighing.

“How was he like?” She asked.

“I don’t want to experience that again,” Umberto said sharply.

“You know the protocol though,” she said.

“You don’t need to quote protocol to me,” Umberto said impatiently.

“I’m sorry if I spoke out of line,” she said defensively and scared.

“No, it’s fine…” Umberto said sighing again. “Call it in,”

“Yes sir,” she said.
