Let's Ride

Roman ripped his body from Damion and Eli's grasp, glaring at me as he stormed out the front door. I don't know what possessed me to follow after him, but I couldn't stop my feet from moving. It pained my heart to see the hurt in his eyes. Lewis gently grabbed my arm.

"It's okay. I'll be right back." I looked into his eyes, pleading then peeked at Ali, who still looked flabbergasted. Lewis followed my line of sight, understanding why I didn't want Ali to find out suddenly as Roman did. He let me go with a disappointed sigh. It was enough drama with him and Roman.

I ran passed Ali to catch up to Roman just as he yanked open his car door. The chilled air wrapped around my legs. My bare feet were slapping against the cold concrete as I ran to the passenger door before he noticed that I had chased him outside. There was still snow on the ground. I pulled open the door just as he started it up. His head snapped in my direction as I jumped in, closing the door behind me. He was beyond pissed.

"Get the fuck out of my car," he growled out.

"No," I whispered, looking at my hands. I avoided his angry eyes.

"Okay," he challenged. It didn't sound like he conceded in the least.

Before I could speak again, he took off like a bat out of hell. My lack of a seat belt forced me to hold onto the door and dashboard to steady myself. I was too afraid let go so I could throw on my seat belt because I might just fly out the windshield.

"Slow down, Roman!" I yelled as he swerved in and out of traffic, nearly missing a lot of cars. He smirked at me and then sped up. He had to have been going at least ninety. He slowed down a little to maneuver around traffic.

"Roman, slow down!"

"If you don't like the way I drive, then you shouldn't have gotten in my car!" he hissed.

He slammed down on the brakes, causing my body to fly forward, making me use my hands on the dashboard to soften the blow. I grunted when my chest hit it. When I was able to breathe again, I rushed to put on my seat belt. I didn't say anything else. I was too busy trying not to die or at least to see it coming. My mind drifted to the accident with my dad. The flashbacks were so real. It felt like it was happening all over again. I started to hyperventilate.

Oh, God! I can't breathe!

I could feel the sweat begin to coat my body. Darkness rimming the edges of my sight, and I start wheezing erractically. I gripped the door handle, and my toes curled at the heaviness that filled my chest. Sounds began to fade. I was going to pass out. The last thing I remember, before everything went dark, was that the car stopped.

"Wake up, Emery. Come on, baby," I heard as I slowly came to. I felt hands on both sides of my face. My eyelids fluttered, trying to open. I slowly peeked them open to see a worried-looking Roman hovering over me. He sighed with relief. When I looked around, I was no longer in the passenger seat. I was lying in the backseat.

"What happened?" I croaked out, looking around the area.

"You passed out. Are you okay?"

"Yeah," I sit up, peering out the window, "I'm fine."

My chest still felt a little tight. I saw we were in a secluded lot that looked like an old parking lot. There were no buildings or anything close by to indicate any life form was around.

He's going to kill me.

"Wh-where are we?"

He still kind of hovered over me, looking me over for injuries. "We're in an old industrial parking lot. They tore down the building. God, I'm so sorry. I was just really pissed."

I sat up, pulling my knees to my chest, hugging them to block out cold coming through the opened door on Roman's side. I shivered, wishing I had at least grabbed a jacket. He noticed and closed the door, sitting where my feet were. I observed as he ran his hand through his hair and down his face. He looks straight out the front windshield, to the concrete platform around us. He was quiet.

"Roman, I'm sor-"

"Why? Why would you do this?"

"Roman, It's not like we were...dating."

He threw his hands up in frustration, causing me to flinch. "We were something! We had something and you go and let Lewis finger fuck you. You're mine. I'm not giving you up!"

"No, I'm not! I don't belong to anyone. We barely like each other. We just tolerated each other a little more. Lewis and I are together now. We love each other."

His green orbs looked into mine. His slightly bruised lip and thin cut on his cheek weren't as bad as Lewis's injuries. "Don't say that."

"Well, it's true."

"Had I known you would be alone with him all this time, I would have stayed with you."

"I'm sorry that you found out like this. I really am, but it's really none of your business."

"Does Ali know?"

"No. Why do you ask?"

"It's obvious. She likes him. You're her friend. You need to tell her." He sighs. "I'm just asking for you not to give this...us up. You may get tired of him and I know deep down you still have feelings for me or you wouldn't be in my car with me right now where you should be nursing your boyfriend. "

He grabbed me, pulling me clumsily onto his lap. I held his shoulder while his vice grip held me closer to him, my knees on either side of him.

"Roman-"

"Tell me you don't love me, too."

I started to feel uncomfortable, being forced to sit on his lap. Not because I didn't like it. Because I did. That control. That forceful way he demanded my attention turned me on, and I was bending at his will. I couldn't let that happen. I had to fight it for Lewis.

I push against him to try to get off of him, squirming to escape his lap. That was the wrong move. I felt him harden under me.

"Just answer me."

"No! I'm not doing this with you! Just let me go."

"Answer me first. Tell me you feel nothing for me, and I'll leave you alone."

I looked out the side window. My guilt for hurting him and for betraying Lewis with the feelings I still coveted for Roman was eating at me. Although Lewis and I developed a deeper relationship than I ever had with any other man, I still couldn't shake my feelings for Roman. I couldn't answer him. I couldn't lie to him, but I couldn't give him hope as well. Why, when I finally open up to a relationship, my heart gets greedy and craves two men.

"Roman, I can't do that. But I'm not going to cheat on Lewis." I turned to him, looking into his eyes. "I'm not going to hurt him."

His grip loosened on me, and I slid out of his lap. He took off his jacket and wrapped it around my shoulders. He looked at me with such seriousness, still holding onto the lapels of the jacket. "I'm not going to stop fighting for you."
