Chapter 1
I walked through my packs territory to get to the training field for training I am the Packs greatest warrior. My name is Evangeline Blake I am now 18 it is the year of 1310 and I am the only female warrior in my pack I am only allowed to wear pants when I am training or in battle other than that I must wear a dress like a lady that I am, I am arranged to marry the future Beta of my Pack as he has taken a fancy to me and knows that I am going to make great pups my sister Lillian Blake is arranged to be married to the Future Alpha of our Pack, it is said that we will bring great honour to our family marrying our future husband’s.
I know what you might say what about our mates well here is a history lesson, our Moon Goddess use to choose our mates 300 years ago, the last recorded mate was in 1010 but the Gossip is that she stopped creating mates after her mate the Moon God was taken from her by her enemy the Goddess of Darkness who is the creator of our enemies the Vampires because she wanted the Moon God to herself and was always jealous of the Moon Goddess.
After that, the Moon Goddess stopped making mates so that we don’t have the same weakness that she had, as the pack Priests say that is in the Holy Lycan Bible. So we marry for power and prestige no longer for love I cannot say that the Beta is alike choice he is a very gorgeous wolf both He and the Alpha will marry us at the same time as it is tradition that all higher-ups will have a joint marriage so that includes the Delta and Gamma who have their brides but as a future Beta Female I must be able to fight so when my engagement was arranged at the age of 10 I was sent to train only the Beta Female is allowed to train as the Beta and Beta Female are classed as the Alpha’s Sword his right-hand man and woman.
The Luna the Alpha’s “Mate” arranged or Mated is the Alpha’s equal but is not allowed to train as they need to bear the Future Alpha and any siblings he/she has and is protected by the Elite Warrior’s that is the Alpha’s Private Guard’s I am currently among the Elite Warrior’s ranks the Second in Command to be exactly chosen by the Alpha even though I am to be wedded to Damien Carter the current Alpha was proud of my strength and agility that he promoted me to Elite.
Today was my last day of training with the Elite before I marry my future husband, he has been at my training for a year so that we can learn to fight together in both human form and wolf, as the Alpha’s Sword we must be able to fight as one, good thing is that higher-ups months into the training with Damien we already worked as one in battle and in life, it is uncommon for those arranged to be wed fall in love before we are married, but we were always different, we grew up as best friends as we grew up together I am the current Gammas third child and second daughter by brother is the eldest at the age of 20 he was born 5 minutes before Lillian, Zach is engaged to Damien’s sister Rosemarie who is 18 my age.
We all live in the pack castle on the top floor where all the higher-ups in the pack (Alpha, Beta, Delta and Gamma) live then the floor under us is the elite warriors and under them is the unmarried warrior’s then the unmarried members who choose to live in the castle then the Omega’s who work in the castle then the main floor where the main rooms in the castle is. That includes the kitchen, library, ballroom, armoury, larder, buttery and an ice house.
Many Lycan families have their own house near the Pack Castle and those unmated that do not want to live in the Pack Castle live in a dorm on the other side of the training fields, Now that the backstory of my life is over back to the present.
I saw Damien swinging his sword waiting for me to join him for training we all get married in one week after today it is customary for the couple to not see each other until the wedding.
“good morning Damien,” I said pleasantly with a smile on my lips.
“good morning Evangeline” he replied with love in his eyes.
I know he can see the love in my eyes, sadly we cannot show that we love each other in public as those not married are not allowed to show affection or touch each other unless chaperoned by one of the parents.
Our trainer was the Gamma, my father he is in charge of training the warriors and was proud of me when I excelled to the point where I ended up the current Alphas private guard and second in command.
After saying hello to my father Damien and I got into position for training, we have other warriors and elites charge at us in either wolf form or human, Damien and I then have to work together to defeat them, After most of the warriors went flying with Damien and I blocking their attacks the next leg of training was starting where we have to defend the current Luna and Alpha from attacks.
That went on for about half an hour which was easy but after that, we had to Protect the Future Luna and Alpha from the Current Alpha, Luna, Beta, Beta Female, Delta, Delta Female, Gamma and Gamma Female which was a lot harder the future Alpha is also fighting to protect his Luna these are the only times we get to train with Jansen who is Damiens Best Friend and my Future Brother-in-law and our future Alpha.
It got to the point where Damien and I had “defeated” all attackers it was only the Current Alpha left I looked at Damien asking him if we should use the moves that we practised a few weeks ago, Damien nodded slightly so no one else can see what happened, then Damien and I ran to the Current Alpha and started to do our double attacks moving in sync where we attacked opposite each other to tire the attacker down, we ended up getting thrown by Alpha Malik which Damien and I quickly recovered from and ran at him Damien quickly grabbed me spinning quickly and then launching me at Alpha Malik where I knocked him over and pinned him to the ground.
My father then announced us as the winners and ready to Marry and become Beta and Beta Female with that Damien and I had to walk our separate ways for we won’t see each other for a week before we made our vows to each other and to the pack.
