I lost my mother when she was giving birth, growing up with my father taking care of me is what you would want it's the other way around at the age of 6 years old I was taking care of him he drank a lot did drugs had people come in and out of this house all the time I would have to cook and clean for him I didn't have a great childhood I lie to my friends at school, I'll go to school with dirty clothes being called names there was a day I met this girl named Jenna in 2nd grade when I was being teased she kicked the boy he was crying who ever called me names Jenna was my shadow we even cut our hands to call eachother other blood sister's since then we were sisters for life, my father never wanted my friends to come over only his if I need all of my chores on time and cooked dinner I can go play for an hour if I'm lucky then 2

I had to clean the house, take out the trash, cook, dishes, go get food which Jenna would help me on that, our outside lawn looks like it hasn't been touched in 100 of years I always made sure no one from school See's me going to the house, I didn't have movies only books I would have is from school I love to read and do my homework I had A+ all the time

Jenna's grandma offered to wash my clothes when ever I was over there but didn't let her do it I would go to the laundry mat cause at home washer and dryer is broken and yes I wash my fathers clothes in the bath tub I use to do the same with mine, we didn't have a dish washer

I love Jenna's grandma Meggie, she likes to go by grandma she sends me home with cookies, feeds me with delicious flavors that you can't get enough I would lie when she will ask me doesn't your father feed you I hate lying about it I don't want to be there anymore I feel like Cinderella and talking to my friends at night of mice

My father would hit me time to time if he was on whatever drug and I didn't do something right or I was just there to yell at and what not, I try to stay out of the way, there was this one time I came home 10mins late because at school the bus broke down and we had to wait for a different one, when I got home he back handed me caused blood to spit out it was the weekend for it to heal by Monday whoever asked what happened I lied about falling down slipped on liquids on the floor.

When high school came around being in 9th grade I was excited all my schooling years I had A/B's there was one time a C I asked the teacher for extra credit I returned it the next day got it to A- so I was really happy about that.

Beginning of 9th grade I forgot my papers at school cause Jenna had a idea let's share a locker, she came to my house

KNOCK KNOCK

"Who the hell is that" Father yells, I walked to the front door once opened my eyes widened like deer on headlights

LOUD FOOTSTEPS

Next thing I knew I was thrown backwards hitting my face on the desk causing my bottom lip to bleed out, I looked at Jenna if a black person can turn white from seeing a ghost this was the moment that she did, she took off running

"Get the fuck up you stupid kid", I got up before he could speak again without asking me to do something I went to go cook

An hour later

KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK

"NOW WHO IS HERE YOU LITTLE SHIT" I gave him a look like I don't know, he opens the door

"C.P.S" (child protection services) said

"What do you want" Father says

"Where is your daughter Adrianna"?

I walked over to the door, they couldn't see me on the other side, father turns his head at me gives me a evil look I backed up slowly

I hear another voice "Mr.Rose you are under arrest for child abuse and neglect" Cop says, once I see father being handcuffed I see the lady must be C. P. S along with a cop

"Miss Adrianna you poor child you are fine now come with us please" I nodded once outside I see the neighborhood watching from their front lawns sad looks I see Jenna getting out of the car running up to me hugging me tightly her grandma gets out walking up to us fast

"Officer can we take Adrianna Rose she is like a grandchild to me plus these two children are like sisters, I would love to adopt Adrianna please", the woman steps up to her

"Ma'am if you want to adopt the papers are at the adoption center then has to go to court"

"I understand, Adrianna we will be coming to get you dear" Grandma says, Jenna hugs me one last time.

A WEEK LATER

I can finally leave this hell hole, walking out of the building I see grandma and Jenna waiting by the car I ran up to Jenna hugging her tight

"Adrianna honey, would you like to go to your house and get whatever you need" I nodded slowly trying not to cry

We pulled up to the house there was a cop car there officer waiting on the sidewalk, we all got out heading his way

"I hear, you are here to grab somethings" Officer said, I nodded as we all walked up once the door opened it looked like before I could of think of anything else

"The drugs and alcohol were taken out of the home Ms.Rose" I smiled at the officer, I went to my room grabbed my clothes stuffed them in a black garbage bag my hair stuff, school supplies, my only photo I have of my mother pregnant with me holding her belly smiling, once I grabbed what I needed I went down stairs

"I'm ready".....

"I can't believe you girls made it through high school and graduating now college in few months" Grandma has tears in her eyes

"Grandma stop it" Jenna says

"You shush" Grandma says while putting her finger on Jenna's lips I couldn't help but laugh.

COLLEGE DAY:

"Oh my god Jen I can't believe we are leaving each other for couple of years I'm sure gonna miss you girl"

"Anna please call /FaceTime all the time I don't care if you are taking a shit"

"You are so gross"

Jenna laughs hard

"You behave in college and no boys" Grandma says, Jenna and I look at eachother started laughing grandma shaking her head

AMERICAN AIRLINES FLIGHT 173 TO FLORIDA IS BOARDING

"I gotta go I'll miss you guys so much, thank you so much for everything grandma"

"If it doesn't work out you can always come back to me"

"What about me grandma" Jenna says angrily

"You aren't far I'm sure you'll be over all the time to bug me", I startes to laugh hard giving them hugs one more time

Walking away from them I turned around one last time after handing my ticket to the door lady I waved, she hands my other part I got on the plane.

(A new fresh start in Florida, I promised myself I'll come back home after I get masters degree which is in 6yrs)

3YEARS LATER

Just got done with class laid down on my bed looking at the ceiling

RING RING

I grabbed my phone off the night stand

"Hello"

I hear crying

"Jenna"?

"Adrianna oh man I don't know how to put this"

At this moment my heart is racing I say up fast

"Adrianna grandma passed away this morning", I was shocked

"I'm getting on the plane Jenna I'll be there"

"No no no you have school you can't miss it I know you want to be here"

"Jenna I'll let my teachers know I'll have 5days off don't worry about it I'll be there as soon as I can"

I hung up grabbed whatever I needed

"Babe where are you going" My boyfriend says at my doorway

"Jenna's grandma died this morning I'll be back in few days"

"It's not even your real grandma Anna", I stopped in my tracks turned around to face him

"Fuck you Mark I knew her since I was 6yrs old she took me in I had a hard life"

"Which you never tell me anything about you" Mark spits out

(Mark and I been dating for a year I lost my virginity to him, we been at parties like a normal college student I'm scared to open up to him I don't love him I mean I do care about him and all I don't know I'll think more about it later)

"Leave if you want cause I'm going they are my family" Once that was said I left got a cab, checked in at the airport 2hrs later on my way to New York.

HOURS LATER

"Anna" I hear a familiar voice I looked to the side Jenna was running to me (she looked good from working out her hair is long, 3years will change the looks)

We hugged eachother felt like for hours once we pulled away she helped me with my 2bags but I told her I'll take the one.

Arrived at grandma's house since Jenna wanted to go back to anyways I asked her if it was the right thing to do all she said was we grew up here and having you back it feels right let's pretend grandma is on vacation, so I agreed to the plan.

5DAYS LATER

It was time to go back to college, grandma had a very nice funeral tons of people showed up some we didn't even know probably from the neighborhood grandma was very well known lady with lots of love to give, we went through her things donated things that we don't want I kept whatever Jenna didn't want so I rented out a storage unit until I get back in 3years or so.

"I love you Anna"

"I love you too Jen I'll see you soon if you need anything let me know please", she nods we hug.

"Sisters forever " Jenna yells out while I was handing my ticket to the man at the doorway I couldn't help back run back to her to hug her one more time.
