The library

Rith got confused glancing at all these racks that have plenty of novels lined up that aren't his interest.

After 15 minutes, he got a book on the last shelf, it happens whenever he want to read but don't have a particular book in mind. Rith & silence both were talking loudly that evening in the library that's near his home. He was skimming through the pages & was looking at the chapters in the book. The librarian was busy, ordering books & totalling the Bucks that he gets as charges.

He was to complete the first chapter comprising 10 pages. He heard someone, coughing with a shrill voice near him, only then he noticed a girl sitting beside him. How lost he was, without noticing a girl, sitting near him for the past 20 minutes. She was beautiful, a little short, 5'2 feet & Rith was 5'10 feet, ebony hair with a cute little ponytail, a baby pink pyjama suit, glowing brown eyes, fair & lovely. The best thing was, a part of her hair was falling on her face when she read the book, a fairy-tale he thought.

He was gazing at her glamour & that made her pay attention to him. she looked at him & told, "Hello, I'm Laksha." Rith was blinking for a couple of seconds & replied, "Nice name, & I'm Rith.'' He made it sure that he gave a genuine smile and not a barren expression that he usually give.

She smiled & asked him how long he was staying in the library, he told her, around an hour.

"Oh, can we talk about something?" asked Laksha.

"Why not, who would resist talking to a girl like you?"

Rith is kinda flirty at times. She was blushing but was trying to hide it.

The time was 5 pm, Thursday and 27/03/2014. He was abruptly memorizing the date, time & the day, cause after meeting her his mind told him to remember these things. He's bad when it comes to a conversation, yet he tried his best. She was about to start the convo, and suddenly his crazy mind without thinking it twice, spilt a needless question, "Lak...Laksha do you believe in ghosts?" this question was trivial to the ambience that they had.

I was an idiot, no he's always an idiot, he thought.

She was staring at him, her eyes told he was a dumbhead. And no other boy would ask such a question to a girl that too on their first meet. He tried to change the topic by laughing, thinking it would distract her.

"Haha I was kidding Laksha, you were about to ask me something, what was that?" she smiled looking at his weirdness.

"Yes, but what was that, oh, it slipped out of my mind in a minute", said Laksha.

"Oh, I'm sorry, the reason was my question," he told himself.

Rith was looking at the librarian, he was walking hither and thither, arranging the books.

Rith thought, Laksha was also a shy person, a little reserved type too. After 14 minutes of complete silence, she was looking at Rith, she was about to tell him something, "Rith, you asked me, do I believe in ghosts, and I'm not sure if I have to tell you this thing, " Said Laksha. That triggered his curiosity, "Laksha you can share anything with me, an introvert is known for maintaining secrets.

She looked at him with her magical eyes, girls have a sight that can kill a boy alive. Her lips were ready to speak out. Closed her book & she came a little closer to him, that increased Rith's pulse rate, Now he thanked all the ghosts!

"I.....I...I have a friend", said Laksha.

"Haha, OMG, I can't protect this secret, it's really difficult," he was faking a laugh.

"And she is near me now," said Laksha. That was absurd but then all his senses were working, at that time if his heart was given the task of pumping water from underground, it would have resulted in the formation of oceans.

he hid his fear and asked her, "Are you joking?

"Do I look like I'm joking?" She replied to his question with a question

"Nah, but... where is your friend? I can't see her." He was sweating cause, only the librarian, Laksha and Ridiculous Rith were inside the library that evening.

"She is near me & invisible to all people except me," said Laksha.

"Why is she invisible?"he asked

"Because she died 2 days ago. "

"What the heck are you talking about Laksha, " Rith raised his voice without any knowledge.

"I know, you will not believe my words, but she is just near me, actually she is sitting just opposite to you," said Laksha. I was tongue-tied, for a second my heart stopped beating & I was gawking at the opposite bench.

"What does she look like, what is her name, how did she die, is she looking at me now?" I still had millions of questions running through my mind. And I desperately needed answers for them.

Laksha said, "She looked extremely beautiful 2 days ago. now she looks like a leaf left under the sun for a thousand years, her lips half-dried & a few stains of blood dropping from the left side of her lips, her polished nails have now grown long & the edges of her nails are broken irregularly, her hair is left untied, her long pepper coloured hair SWEEPS THE GROUND while walking, her sweet voice is a little rough as her throat is bleeding due to the sharp knife that killed her, she is wearing a dark blue long dress and she is looking right at you and smiling. Her name is..."

Triiiinnngg-Tring-tringgg...

Laksha's phone rang loudly through the silence in the library, the vibration tilted his heart upside down. His eyes flew wide open & his mind started picturing her invisible friend.

"Hello mom, I will be back in 30 minutes," Laksha was on her phone talking to her mom.

She immediately took her bag & left that book on the library shelf & waved at him.

"But, Laksha where are you going, wherever you go please take your invisible friend with you and when will we meet again?"Rith asked her.

With a little smile, she said, "Tomorrow evening, the same time, bye Rith, nice meeting you!"

She left the place in 40 seconds, He was blank again, the bench opposite to him was empty but he was staring at it.

Obsidian: He's hilarious. Like, actually. I loved it. You're writing style is great, although you could do with a few less murmurs and mutters.
