Chapter 1

The new girl.

I was new to the school and I hated that we had to move so fast from my old school.

I didn't even get to say goodbye. My mom didnt even give me time to properly say godbye to my friends. Me, being awkward didn't help matters much either. I am not that socialable. Being around people made me nervous. I don't communicate very well. The fact ripping me out of my familiar life felt like ripping my soul from my body. Being a teenager sucked and being an odd ball in a new school didn't really help either.

My mom tried to explain why we moved, but i just didn't want to hear it, so I slipped on my earphones and turned my music up.

I already knew why. I stood in the kitchen, jamming out to my favorite band when mom tapped me on the shoulder.

I pulled my headphones off and stared at her. “Don't forget to go to the office and pick your paperwork up, and don't forget to get a copy of your school schedule,” she said.

I just looked at her and put my headphones back on and rolled my eyes. I looked at the clock on the wall and picked up my bag.

I walked out the front without a glance back. The school was only a couple blocks aways so I walked to school.

The bell didn't ring till 7:50 anyway, so I had time to check the neighborhood out.

I scanned the block that we lived on. We lived in a middle-class neighborhood and didn't really need any special assistance.

My mom made good money. My dad had been killed in a car accident when I was little, so I really didn't remember him.

My mom worked as a medical doctor at the Champlain Hospital and was the head ER surgeon.

She was well known and was asked for by the state to transfer to this hospital because of her excellent reputation.

I looked at all the houses and noticed a house that stood out from the rest of them.

It had a long front and was a tall house but seemed to bulge from the side. As if it had been stuffed from the inside out.

It had oval shaped front windows and looked as if they were going to shatter at any given moment.

Just then, a boy about my age came barreling out of the door. He looked as if he had just woken and threw clothes on.

His hair was messy and looked as if he hadn't washed it in weeks. He looked pitiful.

I watched him run down the front steps and barrel down the sidewalk to the gate that separated him and I.

He looked at me with piercing green eyes and shot past me without even saying hello.

I thought that was an odd thing, but who knows, it might be the norm here. I looked at my cellphone to see what time it was and it was only 7:40.

I got to the school and went to the girls' bathroom. I went to the mirror and looked at myself.

I wore black jeans that hung a bit low on my waist and wore a black t-shirt with a green alien on it.

My hair was cut short with green and pink highlights running through it. I had my nose pierced, three piercings in one ear and four in the other.

My tongue was pierced, and my eyebrow had a small stud in it. I thought I looked pretty good.

Now, being this was a new place, I had not looked up the dress attire for this school. I was narvous about this place as it was new to me. My mom couldn't care less what I thought. She just up and moved us without giving me time to process. I hated the fact that I had to start over. This was going to be a very long and hard day.
