When a disaster occurs at hospital as Baylee Anderson visits a friend, she feels compelled to step in as a seriously compromised patient nearby starts to fail and the equipment tells her many things about his near morbidity.
Charmed into marrying the recovering man, and not bad looking for a terminal patient near death's door, Baylee finds herself in an unexpected environment as his home and business become more and more her own home and business.
Unknown to Baylee, her husband has plans for her future and the future of his company after his death. He calls her his Striking Hawk, and leaves her at the head of a very large coil of business, company policy, old boys on the board, some dastardly close friends of the family.
With only the novels she's read of past women who survived the death of a beloved family member, only to find themselves at the mercy of unscrupulous business partners who are protecting a way of life alien to the best interests of the business, Baylee comes up with some old fashioned Women's Lib Assertiveness Training techniques to entice some of these hard hearted greedy bastards back to the board room and into the company she wants to keep.
omg I just reviewed this, after having set it aside earlier this year, and it still sounds interesting to me.
