Chapter 1
Moving to a foreign land that isn't that foreign to me, I knew that it wasn't going to be that tough. I don't aim to please anyone. I am my first priority. I owed no one a thing.
I still feel distraught as this move required for me to leave my cat in South Africa. I missed Skye. She was my only true friend.
My father got a promotion and that led us here. Speaking of him, he is in his study, working while I'm sprawled out on the bed, bored out of my mind. There are a lot of things I could do instead of just staying there laying like a corpse.
Maybe I should just ask one of the maids to show me around this place, I thought.
With that, I got off my King sized bed and out of the unnecessarily huge room.
Lucky for me, the house is swarming with maids and servants so I bumped into one and quickly muttered an apology as did the maid.
The maid seems to be two to three years older than me. I quickly grabbed her arm before she could leave.
"Uhm..hey, uh I'm A-"
"Alita, I know ma'am." She said softly offering me a small smile.
"No no call me Alita!"
"Uh..alright, Alita."
"Good. So you know that I just moved here..." the maid nodded, "Yes so I need someone to show me around this place." I smiled.
"Oh... so... how can I help?" Her eyebrows furrowed.
"Oh! By coming with me!" I dragged her all the way to my Father's study.
I barged in and unintentionally startled my dad.
"Eish yintoni ingxaki yakho Alitha! Zang'nditsho uk'ba unqonqoze before you enter my study!" He shouted.
(Eish what's your problem Alita! Didn't I tell you to knock before you enter my study!)
"Yeah, yeah uxolo tata. I'm bored so I asked uh..." I looked at the maid expectantly.
(Yeah, yeah sorry father. I'm bored so I asked uh...)
"Gwen."
"Yeah, Gwen to accompany m- actually, to show me around this place... can we go?" I gave him a smile so wide, it would give me the creeps if I looked in the mirror.
He gave me a 'ew stop smiling or I'll die of a heart attack' weirded out face and said, "Yeah. Just don't barge in my or study like that again and make sure you're back by 6PM alright?"
"Yup, enkosi!" I beamed and ran out still dragging Gwen with me. (Yup, thanks!)
"Oh God!" She breathed out, trying to recover from the work out she never asked for.
"Ooh...where are your clothes?" Completely ignoring her laboured breaths.
"I-in my bag."
"Alright, go get dressed and come back here when you're done. I need to change too." I said looking at my outfit that consists of oversized grey t-shirt, black leggings and socks with black uggs.
"Alright."
I watched walk away.
New friend? I shrugged and entered my room.
I showered for the second time today.
Habit.
Getting out after 5 minutes, I dried and moisturized myself, sprayed my body spray and wore a robe.
I then dried and combed my black, curly hair.
Which hairstyle do I go for today?
Ah!
I braided my hair into a side double cornrow on both sides of my head then tied my hair into a cotton candy or whatever, you get the point.
Leaving the bathroom, I walked to the other connected room, the dress room.
I wore my lime green, Puma one shoulder, thick strapped bodysuit, my wash mom jeans, black Nike socks and my black Fila Disruptor shoes.
Feeling satisfied by my simple outfit, I walked out, got my nude pink Louis Vuitton purse.

"Enter."
Gwen entered wearing a sky blue flowy sundress and beige sandals, her red curly hair flowed down to her waist and her amber eyes sparkled with joy.
"Wow." We said in unison.
"What?" We both said again and laughed.
"You look good G!"
"Thanks, you do too."
I scoffed. And applied the anti-blemish cream on my face then grabbed my silver hoop earrings and wore them.
Remembering my eyes' sensetivity to light, sunlight specifically I grabbed my leopard print decorated sunglasses.
"We're good to go!"
"Your father told me that the driver is waiting for us." She said.
"Ugh! Limo?"
She nodded.
"Oh hell no!!"
"We can ask the driver to take a different car."
"Yes. Yeah let's."
As we walked out, greeting the staff we meet along the way, we finally found ourselves outside, facing the beautiful fountain and the infuriating limo.
I sighed as the driver approached us.
"Good day Ma'am." He bowed.
"Hey, please don't do that anymore."
"Don't do what Ma'am?"
"Bowing and calling me Ma'am, I'm Alita." I offered a small smile and my hand for him to shake.
He shook it and gave me a handsome boyish smile.
He looked to be around the age of twenty one to five. Very handsome with chestnut hair and emerald green eyes. Every feature of his defined, sculpted to perfection and oh those dimple-
Gwen subtly elbowed me and I groaned. Oh yeah I was staring.
"Ahem, yeah sorry, what's your name again?"
"Andrew, but my friends call me Drew ma- Alita."
"Well...this is Gwen and we're your friends now Drew." I laughed sofly.
"Oh I'm glad." He smiled again.
Jesus!
"Yeah and you won't be driving that," I pointed to the limo, "I prefer the RR!"
"Oh alright."
He disappeared into the house.
Gwen giggled suddenly. Mirth dancing in her eyes.
I cocked my head to the side and raised an eyebrow.
"What's wrong with you?"
"You know what. He's handsome isn't he?"
"Yes he is. I still don't understand why you're giggling like a five year old."
"You were drooling! You like him!"
"Yeah, I like him, I like you, I like Barney. What's the difference?"
"No, silly! Not that way!"
"No no G, that way. Are you English?"
"You're changing the subject."
"Yes, I closed and changed it. Answer me Miss!" I hit her with my purse.
"Ah you halfwit! Yes, I am!"
"I'd listen to you the whole day."
She mock curtsied and laughed.
"Alright, Let's Go Ladies!"
We both jumped, startled.
"Oh! Sorry..." he muttered sheepishly.
"Shot gun!!" I bellowed and heard Gwen groan. I sprinted to the car and sat tightly, grinning like a chechire car.
They got in the car seconds after, Drew, amused and Gwen, sulking.
I turned and watched her, still grinning like I won the lotto, I said, "Oh I'm sorry milady. Better luck next time!" I said using her accent and fake pouting.
We both laughed.
On our way out, I connected my phone to the car and played Positions by Ariana Grande.
Gwen and I sang along and damn we sounded pretty good.
Drew groaned scowled as I played

"Can I play my own songs now?!" Drew shouted as The One by Elaine started playing.
I paused the song and tapped my index finger on my chin and said, "Let's see... Nope!"
Then pressed play.
We continued listening to our songs until we arrived at the mall.
