Chapter 1
Reggie, tries to cover his identity the best he can when he’s out in public, he tries a face mask, but he has never found one comfortable enough for his facial hair, so he sticks to wear a low down hood and tries whatever he can to cover his eyes. With either sunglasses or the top half of masks that doesn’t cover the bottom of his face.
Though he did move to a new town and no one knew who he was, he was never comfortable in people looking right into his eyes, especially when he had a scar that ran from his left eyebrow to under his eye.
He was lucky enough to find a job, after so soon of moving in to his apartment, which helped as he desperately needed the money. He found a job at a computer shop, where he would speak to customers and repair their devices.
His manager wasn’t afraid that Reggie would scare off the customers, if anything the manager joked that it made sure that they wouldn’t try and break or steal anything, with Reggie looking almost intimidating.
Though once they heard Reggie speak, he wasn’t all to keen on being vocal, he kept it short, occasionally made conversation if he didn’t think the customer was going to be rude.
He hopes that one day, after being able to get enough spare parts from the shop, he can fix his computer up, make a decent set up and be able to stream and maybe meet some friends, besides the one he had left back in his home town.
Until that day came, Reggie sufficed with working at the shop, behind the counter, there weren’t many customers so he was catching up on some of his college work, he decided to work online in order to not gain any attention to his face. There were others who did the same and with the few lectures that were on a video call, each time he just claimed that he didn’t have a camera on his computer. Though he probably had a more expensive camera than anyone in his class. He was leant over the counter, notebook in front of him, noting stuff down from his tablet set up to the side.
Out of the blue a customer walked up to the counter, immediately demanding his attention by tapping with her long nails.
“Excuse me, I’d like to purchase this!” The grouchy lady exclaimed, and before Reggie could even look up she screeched once more “I said, I’d like to purchase this.”
Not wanting trouble he put his pen down onto his notebook, and scanned the lady’s item.
“You’re indoors you don’t need a hat on you know.” The lady explained.
This just made Reggie look up enough for the lady to see him smile, before he slid her money to his side of the counter and put it into the cash register. Then placed her item into a bag and handed it to her, but the lady didn’t move she stayed in her place even though there was now people behind her.
“I’m talking to you, why haven’t you replied?” She spoke with exaggerative hand gestures, thinking she was funny, she looked at the people behind her laughing. Though in return, they gave her bored looks, returning customers looked smug knowing she was about to be very embarrassed.
Reggie took this as his moment to stand up straight, towering over the lady by a few feet and decided to speak.
“Ma’am, it is of no concern of yours, as to why I wear a hat, but you are holding up a line, so I’m kindly asking you to leave.” Reggie spoke with his abnormally deep voice.
In front of him, the lady’s face had dropped, and the previous bored faces of the customers behind her were now laughing or amused. The lady huffed and stormed out of the shop.
