Prologue
“It’s time for you to awaken, my lord. The times have passed too long for the foolish humans to continue any longer.”
“I know, I know. I’ve seen it personally from some of the sinners… quite wonders. Do tell me which one of those pests have returned to fight me. I pity them.”
“It’s Mr. Abernathy, my lord. I believe he is trying to gather them in one place at this very moment.”
The Devil smiled, knowing this was all too well in his plan. He awaits the prospect of bringing all of them down once and for all. He stood up, walking towards his beloved.
“How are the contestants this time, Lilith?” he asked, his voice smooth and a shiver, “Who are we competing against this time?”
“A group of youngsters, my lord. They do not possess any knowledge of what has happened, nor of any powers thus far. The key to unlocking them must’ve been hidden all this time our scouts were searching. For now, they’re clueless.” Lilith inclined her neck towards him, a snake’s tongue darting out.
“As they should… Tell me, Lilith, should I send my precious offspring to torment them?” he walked away, leaving Lilith lingering on the floor, “She is powerless, as powerless as her mother, but she has some potential.”
“I would agree that she would very well make do, for now, my lord, while you recover.”
“Very well…” he sat back on his throne, his face impassive, his lips tilting to a smirk, “It has been all but a game, isn’t it? I hope they know what’s coming for them, for it will be quite a while until they can rest.”
“Rest in their graves,” Lilith giggled, her face turning ugly for a split second, “rest in their little bodies…”
The remnants of their demise echoed through the darkroom.
