Chapter 1

Living in the middle of the snowiest woods where not many animals or people lived sometimes had its perks, especially if you were anti-social or didn’t like going outside. Daniels parents didn’t really like people so much and decided to move to the upper part of town where the forest was. His parents were constantly fighting with each other over the most basic adulthood stuff like rent, food, etc.

Daniel was around 8 at the time when stuff went downhill...

Daniel never really had friends and was being homeschooled since there wasn’t really a path to drive with a car and his parents are quite lazy so the easy option would of course be being homeschooled. The house where he lived was a two-story building with three rooms on the upper floor and four rooms on the bottom floor. Daniel’s room being on the top and his parent’s room at the bottom

As Daniel was walking down the stairs to the kitchen to grab a snack he heard his parents fighting over at the living room. He sighed disappointedly as he walked up to his room to complete his homework after getting his snack.

As he opened his door he saw one of the other room’s door creak slightly open, curiosity got the better of him as he quickly sat his stuff down and went to the room which was pitch black. Daniel tried searching for the light switch and when he found it the room lighted up a bit, you couldn’t see the whole room but at least most of it. As he walked further into the room to see the room better

Suddenly a book with a pentagon on the cover fell from a shelf that was in the dark area of the room. He looked at the book with curiosity since he has never seen the book before. Honestly, the family didn’t read a lot of books but still had a small shelf that had a few books on it, Daniel read all of the books that he had for homework but this one wasn’t one of them

As he opened the book, he saw some weird foreign language or writing, not quite sure if the person maybe had some horrible writing skills.

Neenee73: The author managed to weave instant tension and mystery from the get go. It was a balancing act that kept me guessing and made everyone look like they could be a villain which is on par with the great writers of mystery like Agatha and Doyle. I was jumping at every creak. If you like tension in ever...
