Safe Place | Taekook

A tiny cosy place in the city, owned to cherish the bright days and warm nights full of love.

The wooden floor that creaks, weird shaped lights arranged randomly, rugged mats secretly hiding the kitchen stains- the place far from perfect but is truly home.

The comfy space that belonged to Taehyung and Jungkook- boyfriends of four years.

A beautiful picture of them together in Japan for their first anniversary hangs in the living room, above the TV where the said two men in the frame would cuddle and stare at it all long.

The antique clock ticked by as Taehyung's melodious humming resonated through the house. He slightly swayed his body to the tune while cooking dinner.

He hummed gracefully, thinking of old memories that had him blushing so hard.

Maybe, it was the tune that reminded him of the day when he not so shyly confessed to Jungkook during Fresher’s night party and not surprisingly, Jungkook too actually ended up asking him to be his boyfriend.

It was of course out of the blue but what made it worth remembering forever was that their love had always been mutual. They both harboured feelings for each other, equally shown and showered through different ways.

Like the other days, this day too Taehyung being the sweetest boyfriend ever was busy preparing dinner for his boyfriend who would arrive from work soon.

He knew that settlement takes time and the two were trying their best for all that it takes to make it home. Taehyung started writing journals from home to support their family of two financially which also allowed him to stay home and look after their space.

It was Taehyung’s own choice and Jungkook couldn’t protest so he made sure he appreciated and showered his understanding boyfriend with love for that.

On the other side, Jungkook was still stuck working for cybersecurity. He wished to become a game programmer but because of his financial struggles growing up, he eventually had to let that course go.

Luckily, he found himself a job that paid him well, allowing him to work towards his dream job.

He works in a company that directly deals with complaints from the Public agency and sometimes things would get tougher than they seem to be.

The rates of complaints spiked recently, burdening Jungkook more than his usual work hours.

The clock chimed softly, the hour hand sharp at eight, half an hour later than Jungkook’s usual arrival when Taehyung heard shuffling against the door while he was busy plating the food.

"Baby, I’m home…" A tired voice came by the foyer.

Taehyung left everything in the kitchen and rushed to the door happily, eyes shining as he saw his Kookie entering and taking off his shoes.

Right after Jungkook removed his coat and shoes, Taehyung jumped onto his arms without any delay and Jungkook caught him steadily.

"Kookie…. You're back!" He exclaimed happily, leaving a chaste kiss against Jungkook's lips and just like that all of the pressure and exhaustion from work flew away from Jungkook.

The feeling of his boyfriend’s lips on his was all that Jungkook needed.

"Yes baby, how did your day go?" Jungkook asked with the sweetest voice possible, softly feeling the warmth of his boyfriend against his.

"It was good but I missed you…. That’s okay, don’t worry we will have a lot of time on weekends, yeah?" Taehyung asked with expectation filled in his eyes.

Jungkook couldn't say anything for now so he hummed and made Taehyung stand again on the ground.

"Koo, I know you’re tired. I made your favorite kimchi rice. Go freshen up so we can eat." Taehyung said enthusiastically and Jungkook sighed.

"Tae, baby I still have something to work on… I’ll finish that and eat. Why don’t you go first?" Before Taehyung could debate Jungkook made his way to his tiny room where his workspace was set up.

Taehyung pouted, feeling so bad for how his Kookie was pulled into work again even after being at home.

He silently followed Jungkook into the room and saw how he began working again, not even changing from his work clothes.

Taehyung looked away disappointed, heart aching to see Jungkook looking so tired, barely staying awake.

You see, the best boyfriend ever doesn’t fail that often. Taehyung instantly turned to the kitchen again, gleaming of his backup idea. He picked up a large bowl full of Jungkook's favorite food and headed back to the work room.

Taehyung placed the bowl on the table, hovering behind Jungkook and softly removing his headphones.

"Baby?" Jungkook asked, his gaze questioning why he was here and not at the table eating.

Like heck, Taehyung would eat alone.

Jungkook's gaze went even more questioning when Taehyung easily slid into his lap. The working man let him do so and quickly paid attention back to the screen.

Shuffling a little to settle comfortably, Taehyung then brought a spoon full of rice towards his lips.

"Open up, mighty Jungkook." Taehyung teased.

Jungkook let his attention fly away from the screen to the food in front of his mouth and honestly he couldn't help it anymore.

A choice of blowing his head into a blue screen or his baby and delicious food in his lap.

The choice was way too easy.

A wide smile spread across Jungkook's lips, his mouth full of food. Taehyung’s gestures only made him fall in love more as he silently thanked him with a squeeze on the perm boy’s waist.

Soon the bowl went empty and their stomachs full. Taehyung placed the bowl aside, slowly snuggling into Jungkook’s chest straddling him who put his hands around Taehyung’s waist automatically.

Time passed away swiftly and Jungkook noticed later that Taehyung had actually fallen asleep in his embrace. Jungkook couldn't help but stop whatever he was doing to kiss his precious baby sleeping so tenderly in his chest.

Jungkook felt the wetness in the edge of his eyes because Taehyung was just too perfect for him and Jungkook couldn’t believe how lucky he was to have such an angel in his life.

The angel in Jungkook’s life slightly disagrees because no matter what happens, Jungkook was his safe place and no comfy mattress could replace that.

Taehyung knew that he will always find a way to those arms and Jungkook will always keep his boyfriend wrapped safely in his arms proudly.
