Prologue
My brother and I are writing this story together to give you two separate voices for the main characters. This is our first story so all criticisms are welcome.. as long as they are constructive;). We hope you enjoy reading this as much as we are enjoying writing it.
Do you ever wonder what it would be like to meet the person who is your ‘other half’? I mean that one person who when they look in your eyes, they touch your soul and see things that you didn’t even know were there? When they touch you the first time it causes your eyes to close and you envision what your life will be like in fifty years.
I can see you laughing at the thought of this, this silly romantic view of the first meeting. You’re saying to yourself ‘this guy is crazy’. Reality is never that ‘romantic’, it’s harsh and cruel, and more often than not it’s all about sex.
First off, let me just say that I am not one of those people who sit around waiting for the love of their life. Pinning for someone who will help them feel fulfilled and complete. All I was worried about was getting out from under my father’s thumb and going somewhere far away. I had no thoughts or aspirations of dating let alone committing myself to one person. I mean sure I dipped my toes in the ‘dating pool’ but really it was just to keep girls off my back. I’d only see a girl a couple times, take a break, then move on to the next one. Always telling myself if I met the ‘right one’ that I’d stay with her forever.
The first time I saw him we were standing in line to register for our classes. I’d like to say that he looked at me and we had a life altering moment, but that would be a load of crap and we all know it. No there was no soft touch followed by birds singing off in the distance. In fact, I don’t think he even knew I was there.
