Prologue
I watch as Desirée accidentally brushes her stomach. If you look closely and know what you're looking for you'll notice that under that ball gown, there's a small baby bump. Of course I know because I'm the father of the child she's carrying. A disgrace to the family name as my father would put it with a scowl on his ageing face.
At 18 Desirée's the only source of light in my dark life and I plan to put a ring on her finger. Her eyes lock with mine and she turns a shade of red that makes me hard. She smiles and lets her hair hide her from me.
My father gives me a warning look from across the room, probably wants to make sure I got his threat through my "thick skull" but what he doesn't know is that I love this woman, I'd live for her, die for her and kill for her.
