Chapter 1
No… No, nonononono, let her go!
Edwin dropped the corpse of the woman he had just snapped the neck off, and tilted his head towards the man who had just screamed at him. As the man saw his wife’s body fall to the ground, he dropped down to his knees in tears.
I don’t care anymore, just take me to them, please. I can’t live like this!
Edwin turned his body towards the man and began walking towards him. The man continued crying, and as Edwin passed the dead children, the man began screaming in tears, basically planting his head on the ground.
Hurry up you monster!
As Edwin stopped in front of him, he lifted his foot off the ground, placed it firmly on the back of the man’s head, and pressed downwards with a quick push. The man’s head buckled under the immense force immediately and splattered across the floor.
Edwin looked around the burning house, looking for any people he might’ve missed. He searched every crevice of the house, that was minutes away from breaking down, and he realized he had gotten everyone. Once he realized that, he hurried outside, so as to not get crushed under the burning debris, and once outside, the house fell down. Edwin looked back at the house, relieved he made it out in time.
He stopped for a moment and took off his white gasmask. He took a deep breath and appreciated his hard work. He looked down at his large, white pair of cargo pants which were now pink. He looked at his white gasmask, it was also pink. He got a little annoyed but got over it quickly since he completely understood why they were now pink. He looked over his shoulder towards his back and ground a bit over the fact that his gasoline-type fluid-filled canisters, also were pink.
As he stood and wondered where he could wash all of his now pink stuff, he felt a little droplet on his left shoulder, he shivered a little since it hit his bare skin. He looked up and realized the whole sky was covered in a ginormous grey cloud.
One droplet turned to two, two turned to four, four to eight-
It started raining. Edwin put his mask under his arm, and started walking away from the house, heading towards the forest next to the village he now was in.
Aw man, maybe I should integrate a shirt into my costume? Fuck, it gets cold in rain like this.
But I’ve gone with this image for a while now so I guess I can’t. Would just lead to a bunch of annoying one-liners from wannabe heroes. Like “finally became self-concious walking around with those manboobs ayy?” like shut the fuck up asshole, I’m a murderer, like I care that im a little fat. Fucking assholes.
It just gets cold sometimes walking around the entirety of America without a shirt on, like these black suspenders sure do suck up some heat during the warmer places but that’s it.
Edwin continued walking, turning and turning on the different streets of the small village, passing one burning building after another, getting some of the debris flying towards him from the houses unfortunate enough to buckle under the burning facade. Edwin exhaled a little as he dodged some of the burning wooden planks, which quickly got extinguished as they hit the wet asphalt on the street.
Well, that was close! Or, not really. Not like these planks could harm me, like I’ve been burned alive multiple times, why do I still flinch at shit like this??
Anyway, back to rain.
But I guess this rain came in at the right time anyway. Haven’t showered in a while, and my bald, pale, golf ball of a head could really use some cold rain after being trapped inside this sweaty, smoke-smelling mask for a whole day. Why does smoke stick its smell so deep into clothing anyway? Like it’s a gas? Shouldn’t it just float into the atmosphere or somethi-?
As Edwin got lost in his thoughts, he walked into a low, hanging tree branch.
Eeehhh! Why must wet leaves be so gross-feeling? ooh, the forest, nice.
Edwin walked off the street and headed onto the little pathway that led into the forest.
Too bad this rain started, don’t feel like coming back here again just to burn this forest down to the ground, although I guess it has to be done.
Edwin continued walking through the forest, passing tree after tree. Sometimes Edwin looked upwards, looked at the tree crowns, seeing the wind pass through them. He felt the rain hitting his face, dripping down his shoulders, passing his stomach, and being absorbed by his pants. He breathed in, and out, in, and out. He could really feel everything about himself. He could feel how he was alive.
He hated every second of it.
The sun was starting to set, and the cold breeze was really getting to Edwin.
Why does it have to be so goddamn cold, man! Wait what’s that?
Edwin saw a little light to the left of him.
Ooo, might sleep somewhat decent tonight.
Edwin put on his mask, made his way off of the pathway, and began walking through the trees. He walked towards the light. As he got closer to the light, the contour of a tent started to get visible. As he got even closer, he heard a conversation from within the tent, one of them sounded quite worried.
Why isn’t she answering my calls? I’ve been calling for about an hour now??
Don’t worry baby, she probably just fell asleep or something, get over here no-.
Shut up Steve! My mom always calls whenever I sleep away from home, she always does.
Whatever stacy! She didn’t call this one time, why is it such a big dea-.
…
Hey! Is some idiot out there! It better not be you Richard, I told you I had a hot da-.
Edwin shot them both through the tent door. He quickly put the gun back in his pocket.
Didn’t get any water in the gun did I? eeh I’ll find out in the morning.
Edwin proceeded to pull the teenagers’ bodies out of the tent, and placed them under a tree next to the little camp they’d made. Edwin climbed into the tent, threw out the bloody sleeping bags, and just laid flat on the two person large, inflatable mattress, who miraculously hadn’t gotten any blood stains on it.
Before going to bed. He searched in his left pocket, and took out his bottle of eyedrops. He squirted a few drops in his eyes before putting the eyedrops back in his pocket.
Man, I sure do miss my eyelids.
Edwin then proceeded to take off three large canisters on his back, which took the tubes on his arms with them
No water got into the canisters? Great! I should probably get new ones, these are starting to become a little old and rusty.
He looked up at the roof of the tent, and for a moment, smiled a little to himself. He stretched a bit, yawning during the stretch, and rolled over. As he laid on his side, he thought to himself
Pretty productive day I’d say. Saved a lot of lives, and didn’t even get injured! Pretty dull working for 12 hours straight, but if I don’t, who will? Eeeh doesn’t matter really, I should just be happy that there’s at least some enlightened people out there like myself, going against our own genetic programming. I should be proud of that, proud that I caan,
*Yawn*
At least help out in the areas that I,
*even bigger yawn*
Can…
Edwin had slept for around 6 hours, when his sleep was interrupted by a shout.
Excuse me, whoever is in that tent, but you have to wake up now!
Edwin faded into consciousness, it was only around 3am outside so Edwin had a hard time staying awake.
Yeah?! Who is it?
It’s the Wisconsin state police force, sir! We have Helicopters surrounding the now burnt down village, Arpin. Me, and some of my colleagues are now in these woods looking for potential survivors who escaped the fire. Were you sleeping in this tent during the fire?
Yes sir.
Edwin put on his mask, , and strapped the canisters to his back.
I’m terribly sorry sir. But we’ve already confirmed around 200 deaths, with no found survivors. Did you have any loved ones within the city?
Edwin strapped the two tubes from the canisters to his respective knuckles, placing the triggers fastened at the end of the tubes, in the palm of his hands.
No, actually. Was just passing through here.
Ooh, how long have you been staying here?
For a few days. why did i say that, shi-
A few days huh? How come you didn’t notice the raging fire just a few hundred meters away?
… Say something idiot!
Sir, I think you should step outside now.
Got it officer!
Edwin got up from his mattress and began sipping the entrance open.
Just my luck! The door is a little jammed again. I really should get a new tent, shouldn’t I? Could you be so kind and help me, sweet officer?
Eeh. Sure thing.
The officer bent down and started zipping open the tent’s door, as it was halfway open, and Edwin got a good look at the officer’s body. The officer realised something.
Wait, is that a gun hole-?
The officer’s hair and hat burst out into flames. Causing the officer to fall to the ground, rolling in screams of pure agony and pain. While the officer was on the ground, Edwin got out of the tent, stood up straight, and stretched his back. During the stretch he pulled out his gun.
*Yawn* Why do they always have to find me during the night?
Hey! Get your hand in the air, sir!
Edwin looked around and saw a good five officers standing in various places in the forest. All pointing their guns at him. Edwin did as he was told, and put his hands up, not over his head, but pointed towards the second officer who screamed at him.
He has a gun! Fir-!
Edwin shot him clean between the eyes. The other officers opened fire. Edwin fell down to the ground, his back being pressed against the grass
Fire, hehe, ironic.
Edwin chuckled a bit to himself as he pushed the triggers in his palms, which caused the tubes to spray out an immense amount of the gasoline-type fluid all around him. The fluid bursted into around 1,5 meter tall flames in a circle about ten meters in diameter. The giant heatblast the fire created got all the officers to stumble back, trying to keep their composure close to something that had to be hotter than regular fire. Edwin at the center of the circle didn’t ignite a little area in which he was standing. Allowing him to stand up, and aim his gun towards the distracted officers.
one by one they all fell, all through clean headshots in some way. One through the ear, one through the mouth, one through the forehead, and one through the eye. The last officer had regained their composure before Edwin got to them, leading to a shot through Edwins right shoulder
Aaaahhh! Son of a bitch!
Edwin threw the gun to his left hand, raised his left arm. And fired towards the last officer, on which he hit, but only in his shoulder as well. The officer did not recover quite as well as Edwin.
The officer dropped his gun from the shot.
Edwin extinguished the fire around him, and noticed the first officer whom he had burnt the hair and cap off.
Oh, nice! got rid of that first cop in the fire.
Edwin then turned his head towards the still alive officer, and started running, leaving the burnt corpse behind.
Don’t come any closer! In the name of the law I order you to stand down! Shit, shit SHIT! Wheres the gun?!
Edwin got closer
Stand down, I said!
Edwin got closer. The officer was at this point basically a part of the ground, looking for his gun.
Edwin got closer.
Please!!!
Edwin, while running, kicked the officer straight in his stomach, sending him flying onto his back. Edwin then proceeded to get on top of the officer.
Edwin started strangling him. The officer started crying.
P-please…. *Gasp*. I have a family.
…
Two bea- *Gasp* beautiful girls… Will grow up.. *Gasp* Without a father.
…
Please… at least let me see the one who is going to kill me….
…
Wh- *Gasp* Why aren’t you saying anythi-.
Edwin Squeezed the officer’s neck so hard that it caused both internal, and external bleeding. The smashed neck quickly caused the officer to start gurgling his own blood.
He died quite quickly after that. Edwin stood up, bent down, and smeared his bloody hands on the wet grass, semi cleaning them.
I’m so stupid! I always forget about the inhuman strength I have. Like I can get it over with so much quicker! Wait. I could’ve just snapped his neck… I really am inefficient aren’t I?
Anywho. Better find those helicopters they were talking about.
Edwin made his way back to the Village, stopping behind a tree at the edge of the forest, there he peeked towards the village.
He saw a number of ten helicopters. Two police-, five fire department- and three medical helicopters. He looked towards the ground, the rain had now fully extinguished the fire. Which made it possible for around 60 firefighters 40 20 cops to be present on the ground.
Some police cars in the distance with some fire trucks and ambulances in the village, helicopters surrounding the entirety of it all. Pretty few medical helicopters, but I guess that’s because they’ve already transported some bodies to the hospital. Either way, it’s gonna be a pain to take down.
Guess I can’t complain though. I knew what I was getting into when I chose this path in my life
Edwin reached into his right pocket and pulled out some individual gun-looking parts.
Like, I do what needs to be done.
He started assembling the parts.
If I don’t, then who will?
Once done, he had a white, although pretty generic-looking flare gun.
If everyone could just open their eyes, then we could all just end it.
Edwin loaded the flare gun with a strange looking flare, it was coated in Edwins Gasoline-fluid.
Once,
Edwin stepped in front of the tree, revealing himself. He higherd his right arm.
And for all.
Edwiin pulled the trigger, and fired what felt like the sun, against one of the two police helicopters. The tiny flare hit the helicopter, and exploded immediately on impact, destroying two nearby helicopters in the blast. The explosion left an enormous amount of smoke which poured down across the village. Coughing started echoing throughout the village. Edwin dropped the now destroyed flare gun, and he started running, no, running would be an understatement. Edwin went all out, and broke a new record for himself, running up to 48km/h. Edwin ran into the smoke.
Gotta think quickly now, where is the coughing coming from?
Edwin closed his eyes, the smoke was like poison gas for everyone, but Edwin had gotten so used to it, that it basically felt like running through a cloud, the really hot smoke did nothing on his pale, slightly leathery skin.
…
…
*Cough cough’*
THERE!
Edwin opened his eyes and slammed his right foot into the asphalt in front of him. He turned to the left, pulled up both his arms, and sprayed everything in front of him in his gasoline. He ignited it.
waiting for confirmation aaaaaaand?
AAaaaAhhhhhh!!!
Screaming! good.
Edwin didn’t have time to confirm any kills. He instead sprinted away in the opposite direction.
Please please please! My memory, please dont allow me to run into any walls.
Edwin ran past some more destroyed houses.
I believe I saw some people around here if I’m remembering it correctly.
He took a right, running into a new street.
…
…
*Cough cough*
Aha!
Edwin doused the area in his gasoline, and ignited it.
AaaaAAAhhhh!!!
Some early screams this time, very appreciated!
Edwin had now taken care of the two big groups of people, which opted Edwin to run out of the smoke, which he proceeded to do. Edwin ran back to the street he previously was on, and continued on the path he would tooken if he hadn’t made that right turn.
hmmmm, gotta make my flares less powerful, the flare gun could have at least handled two mk8 ones.
He continued running.
Or maybe I should just design my own flare gun to handle that beast of a flare?
He took a left.
Or maybe not, haven’t really designed anything mechanical before. btw. How come these helicopters are so loud?
Then another left.
Whatever, I should probably just stick to explosives and fiery things. It’s what I do best anyway.
A right.
But how should I get my hand on some powerful flare guns? Like my flares are designed to destroy stuff, like fiering a mini fiery-bomb towards something.
Edwin was now out of the smoke, on the opposite side of where he ran into the village. Edwin ran behind one of the houses that had their backs against the woods on the other side.
But I’ll think about that later though. My flare didn’t get the other cop-helicopter, shit. got two fire department ones though. Better than nothing I guess. Anywho, the smoke should clear soon. I should in the meantime just chill here though.
Edwin waited for a solid 15 minutes, which allowed the cloud of smoke to vannish. Edwin proceeded to poke his head around the side of the house, and saw to his surprise that all helicopters weren’t there anymore.
Huh?? Why would they just leav-... Oooh, yeah I burned their friends didn’t I? They’re probably over there extinguishing them, can’t allow that to happen!
Edwin, less violently this time, ran back the way he came from.
Those copters sure do make a lot of noise don’t they?
As he got closer the helicopter noises got louder, alarmingly louder.
Do my IQ equal my age or wha- , did i misscount only seven helicopters?
When Edwin turned one last right. He was greeted by not only the seven helicopters that Edwin knew would be there, but also five military-grade attack helicopters. And on the ground, were some medics and firefighters, as well as the five remaining police-officers that piloted the last police helicopter. Along with around 40 military officers. Which all spotted Edwin immediately.
The feeling of intense startled ness rushed through Edwins body, rendering him defenseless for but a single moment, maybe as little as one second.
Which was all the time in the world, for these soldiers.
They opened fire.
Edwin rushed for cover behind the house right at the turning point for the street. His body was forced to sit down due to the bullet wounds throughout his body, totaling in at around 7 successfully hit shots. The moment Edwin sat down, he screamed out of pain.
AAAAAAAHHHHH!!! son of a bitch! This is bad, really really bad!
Edwin Started getting dizzy.
Keep it together Edwin, remember your goal, YOU’RE NOT DONE YET.
Edwin, who previously had covered his wounds with his arms, let go with his right arm, letting it fall to the ground beside him. He then proceeded to let out some gasoline-fluid to the right of him, covering the street beside him in it. He lit the fluid.
Aaaah aaaAAhhaAA!!
OOOOO that was close! Gotta get out of here, I need to survive, everyone depends on it!
Edwin started shuffling away, back on the way he came from, leaving a trail of blood behind him. Although, he didn’t come very far, since one of the attack helicopters was just rounding the corner.
shit shit shit shit shit shit!
Edwin strayed from his path, and walked towards the front door of the house he had just hid behind. He tackled it down, and forced his way in. Whilst in the hallway, he made his way into the first room he could find, which happened to be a bedroom. Before opening the door, he doused the hallway with his gasoline-fluid. As soon as he opened the door however, he fell down. Now crawling, Edwin made his way to the corner of the room, sat up, and took out his gun, aiming it towards the door.
Think Edwin, THINK! Wtf should I do??? I can’t die, I refuse to! But what can I do? If I get cought, capital punishment is a guarantee. Maybe I could escape? Hmmm, but how? They’ll most likely just shoot me enough times if I do,
The wounds were starting to heal a bit. Which was a good sign, considering the bullets were still in there.
Dont heal just yet!
Edwin dugg his fingers into the different bullet holes, pulling out the bullets one by one.
Whoever is in there! We are the Wisconsin state military! We see that you have-!
AAAAaaahhhhh!!!
Sir?! Is everything alright in there?!
No asshole, you shot me!
As I previously said! We see that you have doused the entrance with what we presume is gasoline! If you light it! We will order one, off our helicopters to open fire on the room you’re in, we clearly see the trail of blood going that bedroom on the right! Although, if you decide on not lighting the fluid, we will issue two medics who will treat your wounds! Do you surrender?!
Edwins wounds started to heal properly this time, which allowed Edwin the strength to look outside the bedroom window.
It sounds like a real threat, better make sure thou-
Edwin was met by a flying helicopter, flying a little over 7 meters from the house, with its guns pointed towards Edwins room.
Okay they’re for real.
Edwin dropped down into a sitting position again.
We have now confirmed that you’re in that room sir! We saw that little peak!
Stop acting so cocky, prick Okay! I surrender!
We are sending in two medics, followed by five soldiers! If you ignite it! We will open fire! Is that clear sir?!
Edwin looked at the wide open bedroom door, he looked down at the doused floor outside the room, at the gasoline-fluid mixed with his own blood.
Guess I’ll find some way of escaping eventually, if iI do end up actually surrendering. Me with an orange prison outfit does look clean though, and prisons are usually pretty populated! I wonder how many I could kill before they stopped me-?
While Edwin was thinking about his future plans, a woman’s voice suddenly made her presence known inside Edwins mind.
Edwin, you really are a messed up man, and stop acting like such an idiot! Really gonna give up that easily?
What the fu- Who said that???
That isn’t important right now, what is important however. Is that you ignite that gasoline.
Since you’re a voice inside my head, I believe you at the very least have access to my ears. So with that conclusion, why would you want me to do that?
This is our first lesson of trust Edwin, I’m trying to help you here. Now light that gasoline you big baby.
But wha-?!
Once again, is that clear sir?!
Eeh? eeh, fuck it Yes, its all clear here!
Good! The previously mentioned medics and soldiers are now entering your house!
Haven’t trusted anyone in a few years, I believe if i went crazy that my inside voice would just be my dad.
The sound of footsteps on a creaky wooden floor got closer and closer to Edwins room.
I guess this does seem like some form of Core-user. hmmmmmm
Edwin saw a hand grabbing the doorframe.
Guess it seems legit.
Edwin lit the gasoline-fluid.
AaaaaAAAaaaHAHHHHAa!!!
You Fucking BASTARD!!! Fire!
Edwin closed his eyes, and didn’t pray.
What are you doin-!?
Edwin heard the spinning motion of a gatling gun. But it seemed to be firing at someone else, Edwin looked outside the window, and still saw the helicopter, although pointed to his right.
Edwin looked down on the ground to the right, outside. He counted a good 30 of the soldiers down,
With the ones I burned earlier, and these 5 guys who I burned now, that should round up to about all of them!
Edwin!! Get out here!
Edwins wounds had now healed enough for him to stand up, which he proceeded to do.
Now up, Edwin extinguished the fire.
Hurry up man!!!
ALRIGHT.
Edwin halted as quickly as he could for the front door, where he saw the helicopter waiting for him. He halted towards it, basically falling onto it out of exhaustion. Edwin laid there with his face staring up against the helicopter’s ceiling.
GO *cough* GO GO you strange voice!
The helicopter proceeded to fly away.
