Time Travel For Dummies
Authors Note: thank you for choosing to read :-)
In a time like no other, a place on the vast universe. A time keepers tale was unfolding.
"Did it work? It should be a month earlier." He thought. He couldn't believe he had embarrass himself, to even confess that he liked her, and be rejected in front of so many people. Oh the shame, but he was lucky to come across a weird looking book. Even the title was weird. 'Time Travel for Dummies'.
He started looking around, and got startled by a carriage passing beside him. Making him lose balance. Hitting his butt on the floor.
"Mister are you all right?" an old man on top of the carriage said.
"I... I ummm..." He looked up and saw not just one moon but two. There were also some strange creatures. Flapping their wings, as they flu beside the old men. They looked like flying chickens. The old men had weird clothes on, they looked like traditional clothes from some unknown country.
"Wa-What is going on. Is this not Earth? Did I not just go back in time? but why are there two moons?" He thought, "I should have only gone back a month, but this. It seems like it's not even earth!" He took out his brand new phone from his pocket, he looked at it, there was no signal.
A thought came across his mind, no wifi, no internet.
"No!, this can't be!" He screamed from shock, as his legs became numb wobbling. He fell backwards and fainted. Who would have thought that buying a $1,000 phone and paying for the full year service would end up so useless. Oh, all those dollars would have been better spent on something else.
The old men got out of the carriage, and headed towards the young men.
"how weird, What type of clothes are these?" the old men thought.
"Daddy! daddy! look, look at this weird man. How could he have been inside the strange light?" the young child asked, as he looked straight at him examining from top to bottom.
The old man was about to grab the young boys hand. He wanted to check his vital signs and see if he was injured. But as he was about to grab his hand, he saw it. He saw the seal. "oh my it's another one" the old man gasped.
"We should report it as soon as possible. But he looks like his alone, since he was in the middle of nowhere. If we report him, he might just end up killed with no backing. But what should we do then?"
The old man smacked the young boy right on the face "hey wake up!" he shouted. The young boy felt dizzy but was coming around as he opened his eyes and saw the weirdly dressed old men.
"Boy, where's your guardian?" the old men Asked. "this late at night without your escort will only bring trouble. Especially since your one of those." He looked at the boys hand, with narrow eyes.
"one of those? what does this old man mean?" he thought, as he looked at the old man. Who was staring intently at his hand. He stared down where the old man had his gaze. Startled by the sudden looking birthmark in his hand. He touched it. "What's this?" he asked, as he rubbed it.
The old men found it strange. Who would not know what that is. Who in this world wouldn't know. And that question, as if it's their first time seeing it.
"Young boy, where's your family. Or your guardian? Are you perhaps heading to the school of kings?" the old men asked, as he looked at the young boy's eyes.
"School of kings? What do you mean?" the Young man asked, as he tried to get up from the floor. Stumbling again, he lost his balance and his vision started to become blurry.
"I don't know... Where am I?" Those are the last words he said, as he lost consciousness again.
"young boy! wake up" the old man kept on shouting, smacking his face again and again. No luck, the young boy didn't wake up, not even a thunder storm could wake him up.
"now what should we do, with him?" the old man asked, as he looked towards his son.
"Let's take him to see Lorin, she'll know what to do," the kid said, looking at his father.
"Okay, let's do what you say,"
"Daddy, do you think his guardian is looking for him? Usually if you're one of those, they never go out without their guardian. Do you think something happened?" the kid asked, as he helped his father move the young boy into the carriage.
"I don't know, from his appearance, he doesn't look like a noble. He might just be a cast away from a poor family. What worries me is that he seems that he doesn't know about the selection of kings, or how he got here?"
"and that strange light... could it be..." the old men thought, as he moved his hands up and down with a leash. Ordering the animals, that looked like a giant unicorn to move again.
The Next Day
The young boy felt the warmth of the sun on his face. Waking up from his long slumber he stretched his hands to the ceiling, without a care in the world rubbing his eyes. He let out a big yawn, as he opened them he got startled to see the old men staring at him as if to shoot daggers.
"Looks like you slept well," the old men said.
"um... y-yes thank you very much." the young boy said, as he started to look around the room that was filled with the aroma of medicine. He saw in a round wooden table there were many herbs, and water with a cloth.
"It seems that, I passed out in the road..." the young boy said, as he got out of the bed.
His feet touched the cold floor. "I should asked where I am first. The last thing I remember was going through the light back on earth, but then I ended up in the middle of the strange road." He thought.
"Yes, you ended up passing out. Good thing we had the carriage, or else we would have to carry you for many miles. The village was very far you know." The old man said. "Why were you out so late without a guardian?"
Looking at the old man many thoughts came running to his mind, "It seems this is not earth, or even a Futuristic place. Should I played dumb, or faint illness of memory. What Should I do? I think I'll say I have lost my memory, or something. That would be the best course of action" he kept on thinking to himself. Making that old man irritated.
"Hay, can you hear me" the old men said, in a irritated tone.
"Ye-yes, it's just that I seem to not remember anything.... What is this place." The young men asked.
Stunned that old man ask "what do you mean? You don't remember anything? Do you at least know your name?"
Startled by the question he ended up saying the truth and spilling the beans. That old man shocked from what he's heard he said "oh, I see..."
"So your name is (Blank?), you came from earth, and ended up here because of a book. Since you wanted to rewrite history because of an embarrassment. Did I get that correct?"
"Yes..." the young boy replied.
"I just didn't want to live through that embarrassment" He continued to say "But it seems that this is not earth, where exactly am I?" He asked.
"Well that will be a long tail to tell, I will start from the beginning. You are in a place called Thieo Village, and this is my house. Since you come from a far away place, you probably don't know what that mark in your hand is." The old men said, as he grabbed a cup of tea, and poured it to (Blank?)
(aka Momo, authors note: I like reading the Legendary Masters wife muhahahaha that's why it's momo, but I may change it in the end.)
"That Mark is not a birthmark, but a soul seal. Every decade a competition occurs. Where several people, either noble or regular people end up with those markings in their hands, and they will have to go through some trials to become king of this realm" The old men spoke.
"Though sometimes those trials are deadly, People take it too far. Even the government has a foot in it..."
"Shut up, old man!" a women came in slamming the door behind her. "You should not speak so much" she said glaring at the old men. "You know even the wall have ears, so who is this young men you brought?" She asked, as she looked at Momo with a concern look. Momo looked at the old men as telling him with his eyes not to say anything. As if the old men understood he nodded...
And told Lorin the truth, the whole truth. Leaving nothing behind, even the most embarrassing parts that momo had mentioned.
Momos whole world came crashing down, almost fainting once more. "Oh dear, you seem to be a very weekly person. Are you going to faint again?" Lorin asked chuckling. You could see her smirking face and rosy cheeks any men would become smitten. Momo stared at her beauty. Snapping out of his shock, he shook his head.
"No, I was just Remembering what this mister was saying. About this mark that appeared in my hand" Momo said, while he lifted his arm looking intently at the back of his hand. Rubbing it again and again.
"Well like I was saying, before I was rudely interrupted. That is a soul seal, and who ever gets that seal. When they come of age they would need to have a powerful guardian who will help the person become king. Usually the guardian is someone from the family, or even an elite if lucky. With out a guardian, or any backing you might just end up 10 feet under." The old men said.
"what do the guardians exactly do?" Momo asked.
"Well they suppose to protect from other competitors that will try to harm their selected king, and some even will teach them many things that are needed to pass the test of kings. It makes the whole process go smoother." The old men explained.
"Well, since I'm not really here to stay or become some king in this world, I just want to go back home." Momo thought. "Do you know a way I can go back home, to my world" Momo asked.
"I don't really know" the old men said.
"I might know of a way" Lorin cut in.
"What way?" Momo asked Lorin with a startled look of hope.
"Well I don't know if this might work, but if you become king. You can go back to your world with just a thought. Or you can ask the current king to send you back. Other then that, I don't know any other way." Lorin exclaimed looking faint of heart.
"If only I new more" she sighed.
"Oh right, since you have a seal you need to register, it's the law, since you came to this world you have to fallow the rules of this world."
"but without a guardian or the backing of a rich and powerful family you are pretty much a goner, so I suggest to find a Guardian as soon as possible" she proclaimed, grabbing Momos hand steering strait at his eyes.
"O-oh okay" Momo said, trying to look away from her twinkling eyes that where filled with curiosity. Momo's stomach growled. Blushing he looked down.
Taking her hands back Lorin asked "Are you hungry? Let's go have breakfast" she stood up walking towards the door "well aren't you two coming I made plenty" She said.
He could smell the faint fragrance of spices, making his mouth watery. "Sit down" Lorin said as she stood in a small cement stove, and a pot in top of the fire. She poured in the small bowl the soup. "After you finish eating, I'll show you around the village"
"Thank You" Momo said.
He could see the house in a western style from the history books back home. Momo was a simple person, a first grade college student. He liked to play games, and read novels. He had read many transmigration novels in his world, and always found them funny.
He had thought back. He still looked the same, and even had his previous clothes, so maybe it was not a transmigration, or reincarnation since he had not died. He thought it was some sort of summoning portal, but he was the summoner or something. His head started hurting from all the thinking. In the end he eat diligently leaving nothing behind.
"Thank You for the food, Lorin! it was delicious" he said.
"I'm so happy you liked it"
"Now lets go and take a look, this village it's very small, so it wont take long. Lets also sign you up for the Kings registry on our way," she continued to talk.
First, she showed Momo around the old men's house. And then they got ready to leave. They gave him the old man's coat, since it was a bit chilly outside. They walked out, and the wind made him shiver. It was cold, as in October ready to snow. But he remember that yesterday during the day, it was not so cold, it even felt warm. Was it since it looked earlier then now. At this time the sun looked like it was setting. The bustle of the day was slowing down. He could see many life faces, those people were wearing clothes in the same style of what Lorin and the old men wore.
The village was small, but filled with things to do. So beautiful to see, with floral trees.
"there's a festival?" Lorin muttered to herself, questioning the crowd wearing masked. "Oh yes, it should be the floral festival of Yunda." She remembered.
"Come, there will be a good show for you to see!" She told Momo, as she grabbed his arm running to one direction.
Momo could hear a faint sound of music coming from the direction that they were running towards.
