Summary

Have you ever done something so bad, you never told another soul? Told a lie so often, you begin to forget what the truth is? In a world of extraordinary supernatural beings, Alexis Beaumont is as ordinary as they come. Or so she insists. But when a surprise visit from someone she never thought she would see again forces her to face her past, her secrets and lies begin to unravel. Set in a world where supernatural beings roam freely, Alexis is a rare and powerful being, with a deep dark secret that she's been hiding for years. While most of her kind welcome their mate with open arms, Alexis is determined to keep hers away. The pain of watching her parents' demise has convinced her she is better off alone, even if that means never feeling complete. But her carefully constructed plans are put to the test when her long-lost mate, Henri, finally finds her after 250 years apart. Henri has spent centuries searching for his mate, and now that he has finally found her, he is determined to never let her go. But Alexis is just as determined to keep him at arm's length, not wanting to risk her heart again. ***** Explicit content 18+****** ----Unedited------

Preface

“Beware of the defenders, with power untold,

Their force shall end a world of old,

When time comes, a soul unites, to save all beings, from endless night.

The warrior, theprotector, light and dark, a bond creates an eternal spark,

This spark ignites a raging fire, to burn all evil upon a pyre,”

- Unknown Author,Prophecy, 963AD–

I

would like to think there is good in all beings, that we are all capable of bringing light into the world. But my life so far makes these ideals hard to hold onto.

Three centuries ago, I was an ordinary spinner, a near-immortal witch, sent to Earth to maintain the balance between good and evil. I lived in Asgard - a world hidden from non-magical beings - with my birth parents, blissfully unaware of the battles they faced.

As with most spinners, we had a good life. My father was a healer at the royal court and my mother a teacher. My childhood was spent learning and exploring, as children do.

I was ignorant of the plight of the other creatures who walk the earth along with spinners.

In 1770, my life changed forever when my parents were murdered and I learned of a curse that had been placed upon my family by The Witches of Endor hoping, to steal our powers.

“With the ties that bind, the clock begins, to drain these spinners for their sins, as they fall, we hear their cries and witches of the world will rise.”

- Nimune, Witch of Endor, 1322 –

My Gran warned me of the curse, after my parents’ death, hoping to save me from their fate.

Spinners, like many other magical creatures, mate for life once we find our ‘twin flame.’ It is the joining of two powerful souls, created as one. They are said to be destined to reunite on the earthly plane once they have learned the lessons of their past lives. Together they can move mountains.

After watching my mother and father, I don’t doubt that. I will never forget watching them together. My early magic allowed me to see auras, and theirs appeared as one shining so brightly, it was hard to look at. Beyond that, their love seemed eternal. My parents truly believed they could break the curse, but it was not to be. They tragically died trying.

The curse means once my mate and I unite we will both die. My parents might have failed to break the curse, but I have a plan. Gran and I are the last surviving Beaumont’s, when we have gone, when we eventually die, the curse will die with us.

I just have to ensure, my mate, doesn’t find me first.
